    One rule note. Movement in Rough ground -4" so infantry in woods is 8"-4"=4" movement in woods. You seem to be only taking 2".

    I would have thought that if Grant wasn’t on the field yet that he wouldn’t be able to use his priority points to bid on the clock.

    Just getting into TableTop Simulator now and I found this very interesting. I like your presentation, done very well. I also like the AoF rules set. Now, if I can just figure out to make wargames in TTS. Keep up the good work. Looking forward to more of your videos.

    Brilliant video. Liked it very much. Good way to learn to play these rules, which I like just as much as you do.

    Very cool software program. I came here looking for ruled clarification regarding he turn clock, priority point spending, etc. not only did I get that but got to watch a cool battle watch along and a desire to acquire that program. Great work guys, thanks for the video! 👍

    Great game, thanks so much for publishing it!
    On the scenario, I am not sure I like the Altar of Freedom Shiloh scenario as the Union player is allowed to set up so far back. As the Confederates it is fun to pounce on the sleeping Union troops and drive them for half of the board :-)
    I think you guys forgot to roll for Leonidas Polk every turn -- he is 'unreliable' and you have to roll for his priority points. On a roll of 1, he gets none that turn. In most Civil War Battles in the west it was a crapshoot just where Reverend Polk (he was a minister before the war) was going to drop the ball. Also I think only artillery can 'silence' other artillery, if they get hit by infantry fire it can only cause a recoil, not a recoil and silence.
    Confederate General, you are going to have to be more aggressive, get in there with your full force and go after the Yankees. Keep Johnston up front shoveling anyone who falls back right back into the line after the turn clock expires and dont get bogged down at that sunken road. It is hard enough to just move across that field all the way to Pittsburgh Landing, let alone fight Yankees the whole time you are doing it!
    The different colored trees on the map- historically that was a peach orchard that was fought over for quite a while. It was in full bloom the day of the battle and many soldiers wrote about the blossoms falling in the middle of so much death and destruction.
    Great game, really enjoyed it :-)

      1: Absolutely forgot the Leonidas roll, not that I needed another impediment to victory
      2: Absolutely learned the hard way about the need for aggression -- particularly via those end of turn adjustments. The other video of the same scenario played by different folks reflects a better approach!

    Awesome simulator! I have been looking at Greg Wagman's Altar of Freedom rules set and have been weighing whether to get that or David C. R. Brown's Pickett's Charge. I'll definitely have to pick up Tabletop Simulator so that I can play around with the rules while slowly amassing and putting together my miniatures. I agree that someone should do a Napoleonic Wars and War of 1812 mod for Tabletop Simulator. Can you solo play Altar of Freedom using Tabletop Simulator, or does it require an opponent to play?

      You can solo play much as you would on a tabletop. There’s no A.I.

    Wow. This is great. 14 mins in and I love your presentation. I have all the rules and scenarios and have built ALL the forces in 6mm for both sides. With my job it is hard to find time to game as I am always on the road so would love to be able to get the program for this. I assume it is proprietary unfortunately. Love the ruleset. Love what you have done here.

      Quite to the contrary, this is Tabletop Simulator for the PC. Available for less than $10 if you catch it on sale.

      Jim Owczarski thanks. Will look for it. Were the AoF ordbats et al in there? I love the game too.

      Being new to this computer system, I was wondering if you would be willing to do a game with me? I can host or not. If not, can I pick your brain a little on the side about how to run these? I have been learning the controls but am more of a learn through doing person!

    • @JimOwczarski1824

      @@themajor1103 we could certainly have a go at it. Any particular game you'd have in mind?

  • @jameswright4694
    @jameswright4694 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Can this be played solo (controlling both sides)? The only issue from what I can tell is that the other side's OOB etc are hidden. Is this changeable? I want use this system to learn the rules properly, before I go about getting a load of miniatures and roping in a wargaming friend to play.

    Can you play this with the new “epic scale” by warlord games?

    • @JimOwczarski1824
      @JimOwczarski1824  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It depends how readily those troops can be cut apart and how much sprue fits on how much base. I've had problems in the past with Ross and similar matching without cutting troops off their sprues, and, I gather, those new figs don't lend themselves to that.

    • @nigelchapman5095
      @nigelchapman5095 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think the answer will be yes. I am going to try and do this. Just need to decide on basing. Will look at 6x4 or 7x5 table...undecided yet until I see the figures close up.

    Corps commanders...not divisional.
