    Just wanted to say a big thank you as I’m looking at these rules. They are interesting in their movement. Not plotting out a move per se with inches and turn movements. Also have you made this available through Tabletop Simulator, because I like the way you use the counters from ASL?

      This will be the question and each will have to answer for him or herself. I can say, though, that I did often think throughout the playtest of "Grande Armee" and how it became "Fast Play Grande Armee" and then became "Blucher". I note that there are those who still prefer FPGA.

    Hey, I don't know if you'll read this, but I just created a script to hide objects in Tabletop Simulator from certain players based on their color. If you go on the Tabletop Simulator workshop and search "hide objects", my mod is the one titled "Hide Objects From Players by Color" by RameyNoodles and has a picture of a wooden chess pawn with "HIDE" on it. I made it because so many people have been wanting something to hide objects from players for so long, including myself. I would love to see it used in some games, and I particularly had wargames in mind.

    I believe you misread the observation rules at the 44-45 minute time. Page 9 of the RFR rulebook.... The chart for Chance Tests states on its top line, "Observing Targets in Cover that have NOT Fired" (Emphasis NOT fired). Since the vehicle behind the hedge did fire at the Stuart (causing it to retire away from the enemy) the observation Chance Test to observe that target in cover is NOT taken as it has fired. The 1st sentence under the Chance Test says, "Targets in cover may be seen automatically"...and I believe this is referring to the case of a unit firing from cover are seen automatically. From what range can they be seen? I believe that the 1st sentence of paragraph 2 applies...."...48"(or 60" if the target fired from that position)." The rules, though written cuccintly, are not written unambiguously. Another example of this is the 3rd sentence under the Chance Test paragraph. If the observation roll is successful, "the target is visible to all the player's units within 12"." I believe it's meaning is all units within 12" of the target spot it also (hence they do not also have to take a chance test to spot, thus speeding up the game). However some are arguing on the RFR Facebook site that it means within 12" of the spotting unit.

    French commander's (Napoleon) comment: It was not my intent to begin the battle at Eylau at this point - I'd wanted the army to wait until roughly mid-day on the 9th, when all our forces in the north would have been in position. Unfortunately, my father passed away just before this moment in the game and, with my attention focused elsewhere, I failed to issue clear orders to my subordinate commanders to hold off on commencing their assault. Once he became aware of this situation our umpire (Jim) generously offered to hold off on processing the turn but in the interest of keeping the game rolling I deferred and said that we should write this glitch off as the Emperor being "distracted" by a stomach ailement or something with the corps commanders then acting on their own initiative to commence the assault without proper coordination. It seemed entirely plausible that the action could develop along those lines, and so I have no objection to how things eventually transpired - but I thought it worth mentioning here for the record that this wasn't what I'd planned.

  • @MisterMac4321
    @MisterMac4321 22 วันที่ผ่านมา

    As Napoleon it's perhaps worth noting that the heavy concentration of French forces in the south was deliberate - the intent was to crush whatever was down there with overwhelming force and then have Davout & Soult march north (once the south was secure) to come in against the presumed Coalition positions from the east while my force (Bernadotte, Lannes, Mortier, and Ney) drove north. I still think this was a solid plan, but Davout and Soult failed to coordinate and act aggressively enough to bring Tolstoy to battle, with the result that they ended up in a protracted pursuit that yielded little.

    Great video. IIRC correctly though you determine whether a ship is a small aspect by establishing where the shooting line from the firing ship hits it. If your firing line hits outside of the target 90° arc it’s a small aspect target. The 90° arc from the shooting ship serves no purpose in determining whether the target is a small aspect, it only determines which quadrant you are firing from and which turrets can fire.

    One more observation. At 1:45:08, when the German side is considering a Deploy! action. The COY CMDR does not use his COY CMDR order to put down new CPs. Each player absolutely can use more than one Deploy! action in a turn. The single special order each COY CMDR gets per turn is only used to increase HQ orders, allow a unit to act again, or prevent a platoon rout test. I've not seen anywhere in the rules where it says each COY is limited to Deploying once per turn. You are not telling the CMDR to perform the Deploy! The order token is placed on the CP when it's placed to remind you that it can't be moved or deployed to in the same turn. Apart from measuing 18" from the COY CMDR when placing each CP, the COY CMDR is in no way affected or involved in the Deploy! action. When acting themselves, once during each half of the turn, a CMDR may fire and move, spot for artillery, etc. But Deploying is not a COY CMDR action, as far as I can tell.

    @JimOwczarski1824 at 56:55, when the British side won initiative, they do have the option of surrendering it to the Germans. Since they kept initiative they should have also gotten an extra order.

    At 25:11 the British couldn't advance after the one-die rally because they are still hesitant (2 showing) and can't close on the German CP. IMHO he should have just rolled 3 dice to rally.
