For me "staying alive" is the way I play herbivores and "Feeling alive" is how to play carnivores. Because that's kinda how they work, as a herbivore food is abundant, you don't really have to earn it, it literaly grows on trees free for you to take. As a Carnivore you have to chase or fight your food, it takes effort to fill your stomach, and that's where the fun part comes from, as a carnivorous dinosaur you have to hunt in order to stay alive, which is fun and makes you feel alive. As a herbivore or a smalelr carnivore that is being hunted by another you either run or hide (which is also fun) or you can decide to fight back, which is again, fun. Which is kinda where it ends unless you really like dinosaurs and watching them behave like dinosaurs including doing nothing at times. I do, as a carnivore player I wanna be able to relax and do nothing as I heal after a hunt, I don't want to jump into the next fight as soon as one ends.
wrong carnivores can't control the urge to go on a mass killing spree when there's 20+ bodies around. The isle really has a shitty community. Ruled servers are the way to go when you want a realistic survival experience.
most of us carnivore players DO want to immediately jump into the next hunt/fight. That's the problem with this game. The devs are actively trying to deny us that ability, or at least slow us down as much as possible with the stam changes, and how long it takes to heal bleed and health.
I have massive respect for RP'ers. For example when a carnivore is eating a body, and a bigger carnivore comes along to contest the body by 3-calling. The smaller carnivore can either 4-call and give up the body, or also 3-call which starts a fight between the two. Unfortunately most players don't behave like this, the bigger player just kills-on-sight, there's no interaction or realistic scenarios played out... PvP boils down to doing what is most optimal regardless of realism or not.
In Legacy, I got enjoyment from exploring the map, without fear of starving to death if I went anywhere other than hotspots. And while there were still hotspots in legacy, they were more spread out across the map. It wasn’t the same singular spot in the middle of the map. And this was nice, I could go find other players if I wanted to, by visiting one of the multiple popular spots, but that wasn’t where every single player was. I could encounter other players just about anywhere. In Evrima, the hotspots are so bad because if you go anywhere else on the map you die. So then they have to force players to move around by moving the food, dangling the carrot in front of your face. This just makes the same hotspot change location every now and then. Diets were supposed to fix bush growing, but instead it serves as an extra punishment on top of starving to death. I almost never grew in a bush in legacy, I would cautiously explore around or try to meet up with my groupmates further away on the map. In evrima you have to walk up to other players only for them to cannibalize you cause they’re bored. Evrima’s stamina makes it so eventually you’re just hopelessly walking and sniffing, waiting for death to end the miserable experience. The game tries so hard to force you to be a dinosaur, it is no longer enjoyable. It’s just a stressful experience juggling countless different meters in the name of realism.
It’s not that the game forces you to be a dinosaur, it’s that the supposed “fixes” to legacy’s “problems” made matters worse, if you look at gateway, like you said, if you don’t go to the hotspots then you’re screwed because there is no food, if you go outside of these areas there is no reliable way to get food, no AI spawns and no players Also, gateway is quite big, and its hotspots aren’t near each other, but thing is, compared to a map like V3, it feels less welcoming, the middle of the map is an extremely dense jungle that covers a lot of the map, water sources are scarce, and even if you find something like river delta, you always have the chance to find a deino and instantly die (this is also a complaint towards the deinosuchus playable since it basically ruined the game, because now you’re tied to “safe drinking spots” or else you have a chance to completely lose your progress because someone decided to click RMB on you, limiting exploration as a whole) But with V3, the map feels more welcoming, the forests aren’t as dense, you can navigate yourself using the immense rivers, there aren’t mountains and hills everywhere in the middle of the map preventing you from going anywhere like in gateway, it doesn’t feel as overwhelmed by the forests, and it feels like it was meant to be explored, not only that, even if you don’t find players, there will always be AI spawning around you if you need food It’s not that the game wants you to be a dinosaur, it’s the game “fixing problems” that either weren’t there in the first place or the fix worsened the problem
Finally someone who went to the trouble to explain in-depth this problem. I've always seen it in The Isle but I never wanted to go to the trouble of typing out the paragraphs necessary to vocalize my thoughts. I agree with everything in this video.
It is, survival in this game is more like "survive starving due to migrations giving nothing and ai spawnings under map, also i hope you like our todays sponsor: anti cheat, we literally cheat in our game."
Isle's dilemma: Survive to Fight vs Fight to Survive. Most people choose the former they don't want to survive they want to fight. Running away is fight for survival, surviving of one party means death of other. A hungry carno chases a dryo, the dryo has full control over carno's fate if dryo runs away the carno dies if dryo fights the carno just for sake of fighting its an easy meal.
Good points here, For the moment Diet and MZ are in total contradiction with Nesting. I would have preferred the Devs to focus first on Nesting and a way to find companions. This would avoid boredom (and the desire to kill everyone) and it would involve the players more. My best moments on Legacy were having adventures and bonding with complete strangers. This is very difficult to achieve on Evrima. For now, everything is painful: Nesting, fighting, eating, drinking... We need some break. All can’t be difficult. Basically: taking the best of the two versions !
Great points you bring up! Some examples that of how the mechanics feel to me: Guidance such as the migration zones take away the exploring aspects and constrain my desire to explore the map. The perks that diets deliver are so great, such as 100% growth boost, that it feels extremely punishing not to seek the perfect diet. Survival in nature is this 'staying alive' you described but you also mentioned that at least some carnivores go weeks without a meal. In The Isle one is currently forced to take care of this diet all the time which restrains the human desire to explore. Also not having any diet prevents you from enjoying nesting, further discouraging to engage in it. Let's look at another game from a different genre, Minecraft. While this game has way more gameplay options because of the human focused playstyle it doesn't tell you what to do. What the game provides, for example the End has to be discovered through gameplay, as opposed to a marker at the top of the screen. In contrast the guidance that migration zones force upon herbivore players are shown to the player like a nav computer in a car. There is no need to explore because you already know where to go and what to expect once you arrive. It would be a lot more rewarding having to explore and find diets without such obvious guidance. This might require less punishing lack of diets which I think would be a good thing anyways. Thoughts?
It's kinda crazy that not only not having Diet is a punishment in itself but the game really had to give you negative specs for not having any of it just to double the punishment. And of course we can only activate a diet hexagon at 100%..
think they just need to add more aspects of survival so that people will actually want to partake in said activites instead of pvp battle royales at hotspots by fixing ai, adding more ai interactable mechanics (such as foraging or an actual tracking system), and adding more benefits of actually staying alive while fixing the remoteness of migrations relative to commonly player dense areas
this one video (and some comments) has summed up most all of the nebulous icky things i feel about evrima and nebulous reasons ive had more fun in legacy that i hadnt before been able to word. well done.
I think this game would greatly benifit from aome PvE. I dont mean PvE as in "no one can attack each other" i mean it as "Player vs Environment." If they want us to behave like dinosaurs, make behaving in that way fun! I do think this video kinda made it sound like that's impossible, but k het the point. At the state of the game now, it isnt fun. The only time the game is fun is when you are soing something- and the only time you are doing something is often when you're fighting. Give us environmental stimuli. Give us more interesting ai- even if it isnt commen. Give us weather that matters more than a sinple 'its a bkt harder to see' give us flooding, droughts, ect. These environmental pressures would have people moving- and things like flooding could make crocs more dangerous for a time, when droughts might catch them out without a big enough body of water to hide in if they weren't careful. Thusly, other creatures who didmt want to die to these crocs, or perhaps wanted to prey on them, would interact accordingly.
I don’t agree, the game adding mechanics so each dinosaur is more complex and interesting isn’t forcing you to do anything, just because carno can use its charge doesn’t mean you have to use its charge, it’s just an advantage and another tool for your kit Also, migration zones aren’t an issue, they incentive exploration of the map, and you get rewarded with food, thing is right now they are quite flawed because they don’t fix they problem they were intended to fix, which is hotspots It’s not that the game wants you to act like a dinosaur, it’s that evrima, while trying to “fix” issues with legacy, made it worse
Well you bring an interesting point there But i believe the solution to the problem would be fixed naturally with time Remember that the game isn't going to be just dinosaurs We'll have humans aswell and if the problem is that the game forces you to behave like an animal You can always switch to a human, which should solve the issue by creating two different factions that play completely differently from one another So in a way it be a player who plays like a human vs a player who plays like an animal Which is a very interesting idea imo
@@itoyokocho.mp4 well not necessarily you can find a gun, but then you have to find a magazine, than you have to find bullets that fit said weapon, and all that while being on an dinosaur island as a defenseless human And even when you find everything, it isn't guaranteed that you won't die while going around the island So i think that people are overreacting a bit to much about humans
Not to mention playing as a Human while it's pitch black outside (on some unofficial servers) it's terrifying, even with a flashlight it's hard as hell to see while the dinos have incredible NV. While playing I came across a small pack herbivores they saw me probably b4 I did them since it was storming and midnight but they didn't attack me just seemed curious about a Human where as when I saw a Raptor it was curious at first then pounced me so I think humans in the Isle would be interesting if the devs don't announce it and just unlock it and have ppl come across it that way even if there are no role players or ppl that "act like dinos" will get that initial curiosity of Oh a human? In the first interaction
I do agree with some points, but the complaint about having to use your dino's abilities is just silly. Its like saying "oh you picked a necromancer this action rpg? now you have to use minions and you can't just kill everything with auto-attacks! how terrible!"
@@thepatriarchy1637 a lot of people think I’m complaining about the abilities. By saying the devs “force you” to use the abilities to do better with the dinosaur, I don’t mean that as a complaint. I meant that as in, and taking Carno as example, back in legacy all dinosaurs just left clicked, but now by using carno’s charge, you get reminded “hey! I have horns cause I’m a Carno! Right!”, which makes you feel more like a Carno than just another dinosaur. And considering carnos might have charged in the past too, they make you feel like a Carno now every time you use the ability :)
I like about POT that fact, that rp servers are quite popular there. Arazoa, wwd, obsidian, you can choose which one you like the most, and act like a dino because you wand it, and not because you are forced to. The isle, both evrima and legacy, don't hace the community for rp, and there aren't even nonoff rp servers, not even one, so it just about the audience. People want just to fight, and that okay, but the devs try to "fix" their own players, insted of matching their needs.
tbh i almost never get bored of the isle, i like acting like a dino sometimes, sometimes as a galli i just like running away because i just hear something behind me, or a dilo chasing me, and sometimes i just say fuck it and fight
The biggest issue I see with most carnivores is starting out with an almost empty stomach and very little AI food source. I die starting out mostly due to starvation than I do to predation unless I start at the Southern Plains where food is abundant due to predation. I'm not complaining but I think more abundant AI food sources for the young ones would be a quality of life and more attractive to new players who come in lost, weak and starving. Maybe bring in something equivalent to the way grazing works for young carnivores like eating bugs or something? Great video! 👍+sub
In my opinion, they should halve (or more) the time it takes to grow bigger dinos and halve (or more) the time it takes to heal and regain stam. At any given time, in a server of 100 people, probably 70-80 of them are not adult, which means only a handful are actually "playing," i.e. fighting.
i think its bc i always do the same cycle, spawn go to the most poblated area and eat the 3 nutrients scavenging then go to a bush and afk for 30 mins to go drink and afk till u hungry , thats it until u get to adult stage then u start enjoying the game fighting everything until u die and repite the whole cycle i think if u spawn as adult from the start i would enjoy the game a lot more bc i skip the growing part wich its really boring when u already explored all the map
@@sku4d_942you should def stop afk growing and start exploring even as a juvenile, I always do that and I have a lot of fun, either finding others to group with, watching the chaos from afar, escaping some pesky Herrera trying to catch me Also this is why they need to add sandbox back to evrima as soon as possible
If you don't enjoy behaving as a dinosaur, then why are people playing a dinosaur survivor game? If I don't enjoy racing, I don't play Formula 1 games. If I don't enjoy behaving as a football player, I don't play FIFA. If I don't enjoy behaving as a soldier, I don't play COD or stuff like that. I never heard someone complaining that "I picked sniper class and the game forces me to play and behave as a sniper". Then why do people complain here that certain dinosaurs require a certain playstyle? If you don't like behaving as a medic in a shooter game because the game forces you to revive friends instead of mindlessly run and shoot, then don't play as a medic. Btw if you want to explore the map, there are dinos that are suitable for that. The only punishment will be the growth time, but if you want to explore, then that doesn't matter anyway, right? So what's the problem?
Tell me how The Isle is not about feeling alive after me and three other people, playing stegos fended off numerous attacks by a group of three ceras and one raptor for an hour. My heart was pounding after that fight.
3 Ceras and 1 Raptor are so insignificant to even a halfway grown solo stego, that you should have been able to ignore them completely. You literally 1 shot all of them. Now a pack of 3 Allos against a solo stego, yeah that would get my heart beating fast.
Эта игра создана для меня, и я в восторге от нее. Ничего не нужно менять кому не нравится должны уйти, вы найдете другую игру а я такую нигде не найду.
Humans are animals too and driven my instinct as much as any other. Literally, the urge you mention to go back to our human behaviours and the feeling of being cramped by behaving like a certain dinosaur is our own instinctual migration to do what comes naturally to us humans, the very same instinct as dinosaurs being drawn towards their own respective resources and places. I feel like the Isle has made effort to really give players the immersion of thinking outside of themselves, and place them in the mind of a dinosaur with very different urges and mindsets, and is THE game to play if you want to be as close as you can to being a dinosaur. This is exactly why I play it, and presumably others too. For a game which is more lax, and gives far more leeway for casual play and Land Before Time roleplays, that game is Path of Titans and its community servers.
@@igris6672 Dude We're literally called homo sapiens 💀💀💀 it's a latin binominal name Wich means we're classified under a kingdom of living beings, aka animalia. And everything in the Kingdom animalia is an animal
@@igris6672 it's not about whether I believe it or not. If you believe in science even a little bit it's literally one of the basic things you need to learn about humans. We're animals of the family of mammals, and the group of the great apes, obviously we have very advanced intelectual capacity compared to other animals, it's what makes us so different. But it doesn't exclude our roots, unless you believe humans just poofed out into thin Air or smt
What they need to do is spread the diet items out more. Not necessarily get rid of migration but make it so, even if you don't go for migration, you can reasonably expect to have at least one diet box filled at any given time if you look for it. I don't mind having an incomplete diet while traveling but being forced to have empty diet constantly because the map decides to only spawn items that aren't on my diet is annoying. This is kind of why I like the piscivorous creatures. There's always fish around so you never dip into the -75% growth that you get when you go without diet for a while. I took a diablo around the perimeter of the island and it sucked. I was constantly having to graze and only got a few percent worth of growth over a whole hour. I did find some cool scenery here and there but it's not enough to make it worth doing again. But also the map needs more unique features. Places that players will actually want to go. The bushland all feels the same as do the grasslands. The swamp is just frustrating to traverse so nobody goes there. Give us some cool rock features to climb around on or something. Legacy's map had this nice little secluded mountain pond you had to hike to in order to enjoy (you never spawned near it) and the one lake with the big rock in the middle that players liked sitting on. The only spots on the Gateway map that really captures that is the waterfall in south plains and the wave-break by the southern delta. I don't know what it is about the wave-break but I just enjoy walking along it. I go out of my way to do it. But it could go further than just making nice locations. Imagine if the map broke down the more players interacted with it. Kind of like the tred paths in animal crossing games but a little more impactful. Bridges could collapse after so many steps have been taken on them, human buildings could have more plant life grow over them the more collective time players spend within its radius, or rocks could close the pass in highlands if enough individual players go through there. There could be boulders to shove or trees to knock over just for the sake of it. Maybe they could cause damage if the fell or rolled onto another player. Idk.
My only opinion regarding this is that I hope Afterthought actually starts focusing on the human faction so that there is a "feeling alive" option at some point in the relatively close future (compared to the development lifespan this game has been through). We have herbivores, carnivores and omnivores now, soon enough we'll have Allosaurus and after that our first pair of apexes. I could not imagine a better spot to start introducing and developing the human aspects of the game that lets players play like a human instead of forcing the dinosaur behavior. I don't hate that it tries to force dinosaur behavior, it would be a shitshow otherwise. Mixpacking and hackers are still running rampant through servers like the damn Doom Slayer, if there weren't forced behaviors like migrations and defensive mechanics like running away to water, a tree or a burrow those problems would be even more rampant. It's what happened in legacy, constantly. There are consequences to being forced to act like a dinosaur but there are also benefits. Most notably, immersion. You genuinely feel like it's a dinosaur and not just a stat sheet beating another stat sheet. Interactions are way more lively and controlled, we no longer have to scour the entire map hoping to find *someone* or *something* to eat, with zero guarantee salvation is in the direction you're heading. There's no longer a singular hotspot that 80% of the server sticks to, as all species are forced into set areas of the map. There are actual habitats that you can find certain species at, which were not a thing in legacy. Players also have control over there growth rates and their diet buffs to a decent extent, and with the addition of mutations, this allows a great deal of personality and manipulation of the "set in stone" ways the players are meant to use their specific dinosaur. Before the introduction of mutations, my pteranodon would be forced to live inland instead of on the coast, it would suffer greatly if it relied on a sea-faring life. It doesn't anymore, because it can feed and drink on the coasts of the island now. Deinosuchus would never have been able to utilize the ocean like it does now. There are plenty of ways to approach mutations but at the end of the day it's changed the way Evrima itself functions as a whole. If you have an idea for how you want your dinosaur to live, you can probably do it now, within reasonable limitations.
@@misterionorman9764 Dinossaurs were segregated in tiers back then, Tier 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5, you would always start playing with a small tier dinossaur, for example if you wanted to play spino, you would pic Velo, then Austro, then Bary, then Sucho, and then Spino, to progress to the next dinossaur you had to survive for a few minutes, and you could switch in between dinossaurs anytime you wanted to play something different after you had already progressed, but if you died, you would reset to tier 1
Idk i had ALOT of fun on semi realism servers back in the day on legacy. When community servers like isla nycta were still alive. Back then we had the choice between acting like a dino or not. Buuuuut inam a fan of the unique playstyles as it keeps me from feeling bored and keeps dinos from just being reskins of the same thing. And i like how diets discourage cannibalism asode from cerato but they are overly harsh. I may feel different than you to a small degree but inlove that you still think the mechanics are cool. Keep up the awesome vids
and the isle is just an game :P. but yeah i agree you cant make people behave as dinos cause we are humans. i love the game too. and i wont stop playing it, just take a break in between sometimes for new updates and so on :)
You don't even need to force players to conform to being animals like this. migrations and shit is something the evolved to do with reason. Many games manage to simply simulate the environment of an animal, and before you know it, meta player be moving in herds and migrating to green grass. Look at games with trade routes for instance. This shop sells this cheap, and buys this at a high price. Boom. Everyone and their mom is now perfectly nestled into the trade route caravan life style. That was all it took. (it would probably help if they made simply surviving more fun.)
I actually really like the "surviving physically" aspect of this game. I play this game to shut off my brain and just be an animal lol. I found legacy very boring due to the amount of things that just don't matter, such as where to travel.
2:48 Do not wanna complain, but saying "forcing the player" makes it sound as if having these mechanics, making the dinosaurs feel more different or even unique, would be a bad thing? Not that you were implying it, but what would specific playstyles for each dinosaur "forcing" the player more than having the choice between classes in an RPG or unit types in an milsim game? 3:12 About the migration zones: You know that in Spiro at certain times it was a big problem that the majority of the map felt empty, because over 50% or even more of the server population were spending the whole day (or timespan of their respective sessions) on one spot, forcing all the players to either hang around these spots or walking alone without any encounter for hours. You might have the total freedom to be whereever you wanted, but as a carnivor, esepcially when AI was not respawning or not giving enough food, you were constantly force to walk around against the starving clock. While at the beginning that was also still a problem with gateway, it was only due to the fact that so many migration zones were not established yet, but now I have always an encounter every 30 minutes, if I do not deliberately choose a remote place, where I can speculate to have at least an hour for me (and nesting pals)! I think you are overly stressing this dichotomy without having a middle-ground in mind. If you give 100% Agency to the player when it means you give them NOTHING, what they have to actually work for! Survival needs to be earned, or it is just existing! Players got bored on Spiro and were KOsing and attacking for no reason, because there was nothing preventing or incentivizing to not to. The other extreme is to give the player tasks, goals or areas to be at certain times to keep them busy moving and not giving them time to hang around and relax at a spot with the danger to make the whole experience feel like grind or stress all the time! I personally think the only problem is to balance that experience in a way that it does not feel like a choir, but keeps the player on foot and also enable them to either relax or divert from an area for a while (which is necessary for some migration zones, since they have no water source). So I have to kindheartedly disagree with your analogy with a tesla driver. At least for me that is not how it feels.
Bro thats actually an incorrect comparison I play the isle cuz i do want to be a dinosaur why would i live with human mind and choices, i enjoy living like a dinosaur that is trying to physically survive. Im not a human im a dinosaur and thats what makes me love and play the isle at the first place
Evrima is currently unplayable for a carnivore nothing interested just running stimulation through the migration zones. You are not allowed to explore the map freely you just run mindlessly to migration zones hoping that you will find someting to eat. The most annoying part is that some migration zones are just so stubidly designed and you have to cross three mountains to get there which is impossible, meaning that you will starve to death. The world feels empty, with no players outside ''hotspots'' as ai spawns only in migration zones. I would love to bring back the old classic way to feed yourself when the ai spawns around the carnivore player every 10-15 minutes. I wish they had rabbits and more goats for smaller carnis to hunt, but all they care about is fixing the ''bugs'' and design the dinosaur. The whole game crap and should be free or at least 5 pounds, because it is fucking awfully designed. Legacy version is much better even with all the hackers and cheaters.
Sry, but i can t relate to this opinion, i mean if you don t like how the game is developing, just simply dont play it, there are enough survival games out there, with the aspects you want to have. In addition i think from the realistic aspect the isle is doing great, the devs telling us that they want, the isle, to becoming a realistic dinosaur survival game, and they developing as good as they can to make it immersive for us. I also think that they need to improve a lot, but no one is perfect, so we have to have patience and see what the future brings.
I personally like the whole realism they go for. Maybe some things don’t fall in place just right yet but I’m not against them. I just wanted to talk about this, not necessarily say it’s bad or good. :)
what they have to do is go back to how health, stam and growth worked before gateway was added, since gateway this game became drastically unfun (except for the realistism sweatlords that arent even really good at the game)
The Isle has become incredibly boring for me, I wish the devs would put more focus on extra activities and reworking migrations but it appears those are not on the priority list despite how much we need them.
I've definitely been "falling out of love" with the isle ever since gateway released. It just feels less and less fun with each update. sure there's cool new dinosaurs and mechanics but every choice the devs make is just so out of touch. They don't seem to be making a game for it to be fun, but simply as an art project or something. The community's feelings and requests are not taken into account and it feels like a lot of these "features" are merely there just to waste your time. I would much rather play a game that respects it's community
What is your point???? Adding complexity and mechanics that resemble survival in a survival game is bad because it makes the game less sandbox?????? Animals behaving like animals isn't boring, the actual problem is the game is badly designed in it's gameplay loop.
Bro wants a game with zero mechanics and nothing to do YAGUYWGD Migrations, diets, unique abilities- its what has made The Isle actually start to be fun, for the first time ever imo /start/ to. AI is always inconsistent and migrations need lotsa work and yada yada yada, but if u want a game with literally zero rules just play in the Unreal editor or something segfu games have in-game rules, its how they work. Otherwise its not rly a game, its just a walking sim. Which is what The Isle has been for most of its existence. Boring as all hell. It's been a dino brawler combat game since forever due to the fact that there is literally nothing else to do in it. its not balanced or made for that tho so the combat was always realllllly bad, also cause it was just bad anyway (tail riding, right click spam..). Only now are we seeing some additions and changes that is helping it fall a litttleeee more into the survival game category rather than [wants to be a survival game but only has combat and is otherwise a walking sim]. Anyways no hate but basically, nah fam
@@mrbeardmTV Weird cause you argued that what The Isle is currently doing is striping away player agency and is against human nature. Which doesnt make sense anyway. If you strip away everything in a game that makes it that game then they all turn into boring ass walking sims with this false sense of 'you can do anything' You can only ""do anything"" because the game has no meat to it. So its more like you can do nothing actually PFFF
@@MyUniverseinaBox The best way I can put it is a comment I've seen on this video, which says "The Isle's gameplay feels like playing a documentary at times", which I can't argue against. Making the dinosaurs very realistic and behaving like animals isn't good or bad, it's just the dev's decision for the game to be how they want it to be. I enjoy Evrima. I made this video to bring up the idea that while they aim to make the game very realistic, in reality the life of animals can get very boring very fast to a lot of players (not all) because we're not animals. Compared to legacy, where we chose to act like animals, not being forced to, was a choice made by each person. Do I enjoy Evrima more than Legacy? Yes. I think it's better. But that doesn't matter here. As I said in the video, each can have their own opinion to what I talk about in the video :)
No Im not okay, if you want that all the dino are just different model with variating stats about just damage, speed etc go back to Legacy bro. The devs want each dino to be special, because they want that when you play the pteranodon you feel like you're playing a pteranodon and not a just a smaller and weaker Quetz, but if you want as a pteranodon hangout with cera (real dino will not do that) you can, unless you do the spy birdand then f u but you can also live you're RP ptera life make children be afraid of everything, or go bite the steg and troll everyone u choose. I was dreaming about being a T Rex when I was younger, so when T Rex will come out I'll want to have a badass things in my hand with a big roars and I want that everything is scared of me I want special mecha that only Rex have, I'll be special, I'll not have the impression of playing an obese allo. And yea, nesting is not a safety features, and I don't see why picking up sticks is that traumatising for u. MZ is a safety features, because we need them a little bit, but it's not absolute, like yes as a herb it may feel like a guidance and it is but I think you'll not be glad when your trike will take two days for grow just cause you don't know where the potatoes are. Also diets make life harder, so no it isn't a safety features. And no the isle is not playing the game for u because if you go at the MZ as a sub steg like you'll go at McDo a carni will eat your intestines, your heart, your lunges and maybe your bones. Yes Im genuinely don't agree with you. All the mechanics are not here for Eloned Musked the game but just make it more complex and complete.
Im sorry man, but what?? Both your Surviving Mentally and physically are playstyles in The Isle, it depends on a playable since they are not just skins with sigtly different stats. Every dino has optimal way to play, just like every tool is good for different things, It's like being upset you cannot be fast on land as a crock. Migrations are there so you cannot afk grow (ironically, you cannot do what cows and snakes are doing irl) and they are not a problem for half the playables to begin with. Incentivising players to do what gamedeveloper wants you to do i basic game design, even skyrim does it (Areas game devs dont what you to go from the start have minimal lvl of 20+). Possibly the only resonable thing in this video is nesting crtique, cuz it is simply too taxing on parents with no benefits (except social interreaction and cute babas). You really didn't cook with this one.
My thoughts exactly.
Well said
wrong carnivores can't control the urge to go on a mass killing spree when there's 20+ bodies around.
@@kenshinhimura9387 Well I guess the game is more geared towards me than you then.
Im a dinosaur
W survivor of the asteroid
Hello GTA dinosaur officer

It’s not that the game forces you to be a dinosaur, it’s that the supposed “fixes” to legacy’s “problems” made matters worse, if you look at gateway, like you said, if you don’t go to the hotspots then you’re screwed because there is no food, if you go outside of these areas there is no reliable way to get food, no AI spawns and no players
Also, gateway is quite big, and its hotspots aren’t near each other, but thing is, compared to a map like V3, it feels less welcoming, the middle of the map is an extremely dense jungle that covers a lot of the map, water sources are scarce, and even if you find something like river delta, you always have the chance to find a deino and instantly die (this is also a complaint towards the deinosuchus playable since it basically ruined the game, because now you’re tied to “safe drinking spots” or else you have a chance to completely lose your progress because someone decided to click RMB on you, limiting exploration as a whole)
But with V3, the map feels more welcoming, the forests aren’t as dense, you can navigate yourself using the immense rivers, there aren’t mountains and hills everywhere in the middle of the map preventing you from going anywhere like in gateway, it doesn’t feel as overwhelmed by the forests, and it feels like it was meant to be explored, not only that, even if you don’t find players, there will always be AI spawning around you if you need food
It’s not that the game wants you to be a dinosaur, it’s the game “fixing problems” that either weren’t there in the first place or the fix worsened the problem
Finally someone who went to the trouble to explain in-depth this problem. I've always seen it in The Isle but I never wanted to go to the trouble of typing out the paragraphs necessary to vocalize my thoughts. I agree with everything in this video.
I think they really need to fix migration, and everything else will probably start to fall into place
It is, survival in this game is more like "survive starving due to migrations giving nothing and ai spawnings under map, also i hope you like our todays sponsor: anti cheat, we literally cheat in our game."
you can also describe The Isle as more of "an experience" than a video game at times.
Immersion.. play and feel as a dinosaur
Good points here,
For the moment Diet and MZ are in total contradiction with Nesting.
Some examples that of how the mechanics feel to me:
Guidance such as the migration zones take away the exploring aspects and constrain my desire to explore the map.
Thoughts?
Yeah it would be cool to have a lot of things offered to the player, but in the end the player chooses how to use them :)
I think the only reason they added migration zones was to group up herbivores so carnivores don't have to look so hard for them
It's kinda crazy that not only not having Diet is a punishment in itself but the game really had to give you negative specs for not having any of it just to double the punishment.
And of course we can only activate a diet hexagon at 100%..
spiro was like that you had to figure out where food was changed on gateway
@@JimChumly yes, thats right. Migrations also helps herbivores to form herds.
think they just need to add more aspects of survival so that people will actually want to partake in said activites instead of pvp battle royales at hotspots by fixing ai, adding more ai interactable mechanics (such as foraging or an actual tracking system), and adding more benefits of actually staying alive while fixing the remoteness of migrations relative to commonly player dense areas
this one video (and some comments) has summed up most all of the nebulous icky things i feel about evrima and nebulous reasons ive had more fun in legacy that i hadnt before been able to word. well done.
I think this game would greatly benifit from aome PvE. I dont mean PvE as in "no one can attack each other" i mean it as "Player vs Environment."
If they want us to behave like dinosaurs, make behaving in that way fun!
I don’t agree, the game adding mechanics so each dinosaur is more complex and interesting isn’t forcing you to do anything, just because carno can use its charge doesn’t mean you have to use its charge, it’s just an advantage and another tool for your kit
Also, migration zones aren’t an issue, they incentive exploration of the map, and you get rewarded with food, thing is right now they are quite flawed because they don’t fix they problem they were intended to fix, which is hotspots
It’s not that the game wants you to act like a dinosaur, it’s that evrima, while trying to “fix” issues with legacy, made it worse
Well you bring an interesting point there
But i believe the solution to the problem would be fixed naturally with time
Remember that the game isn't going to be just dinosaurs
We'll have humans aswell
and if the problem is that the game forces you to behave like an animal
You can always switch to a human, which should solve the issue by creating two different factions that play completely differently from one another
So in a way it be a player who plays like a human vs a player who plays like an animal
Which is a very interesting idea imo
Yeah time will probably make everything feel better
and now the dinos need to start worrying about long ranged attacks from the gun wielding humans
@@itoyokocho.mp4 well not necessarily
you can find a gun, but then you have to find a magazine, than you have to find bullets that fit said weapon, and all that while being on an dinosaur island as a defenseless human
And even when you find everything, it isn't guaranteed that you won't die while going around the island
So i think that people are overreacting a bit to much about humans
It makes sense to me, especially considering you can play as a human in The Isle eventually.
Good video
I don’t really think that making dinosaurs unique with different mechanics forces players to behave like a dinosaur, its just an advantage
Remember guys, You cannot make 🎮 behave like 🦖, because 🎮 are not 🦖, thay are 🚶🚶♀️ beings
I LOVE YOUUU MR BREAD!!! i did not type your name wrong
:))))
tbh i almost never get bored of the isle, i like acting like a dino sometimes, sometimes as a galli i just like running away because i just hear something behind me, or a dilo chasing me, and sometimes i just say fuck it and fight
my thing is no one plays like a dino know every one is just at south plains and no one goes to migration points anymore
That's why you should play every server and have a different dino per server so if you change things up as you grow multiple dinos
If you don't wanna act like a dinosaur then PoT is a great option for being rewarded for "acting like a human playing a dinosuar"
The migration thing stops it becoming Path of Titans, a bunch of toddlers hanging in GP.
I like these comparisons
The biggest issue I see with most carnivores is starting out with an almost empty stomach and very little AI food source. I die starting out mostly due to starvation than I do to predation unless I start at the Southern Plains where food is abundant due to predation. I'm not complaining but I think more abundant AI food sources for the young ones would be a quality of life and more attractive to new players who come in lost, weak and starving. Maybe bring in something equivalent to the way grazing works for young carnivores like eating bugs or something?
Great video!

In my opinion, they should halve (or more) the time it takes to grow bigger dinos and halve (or more) the time it takes to heal and regain stam. At any given time, in a server of 100 people, probably 70-80 of them are not adult, which means only a handful are actually "playing," i.e. fighting.
so they should go back to how stam health and growth was before gateway, which is what I been saying since the new disgusting stam system dropped
after 2k hours in the isle im finaly burnt
i think its bc i always do the same cycle, spawn go to the most poblated area and eat the 3 nutrients scavenging then go to a bush and afk for 30 mins to go drink and afk till u hungry , thats it until u get to adult stage then u start enjoying the game fighting everything until u die and repite the whole cycle
i think if u spawn as adult from the start i would enjoy the game a lot more bc i skip the growing part wich its really boring when u already explored all the map
@@sku4d_942you should def stop afk growing and start exploring even as a juvenile, I always do that and I have a lot of fun, either finding others to group with, watching the chaos from afar, escaping some pesky Herrera trying to catch me
Also this is why they need to add sandbox back to evrima as soon as possible

I never said moments like that don’t exist anymore.
3 Ceras and 1 Raptor are so insignificant to even a halfway grown solo stego, that you should have been able to ignore them completely. You literally 1 shot all of them. Now a pack of 3 Allos against a solo stego, yeah that would get my heart beating fast.
Humans are humans and not animal but if you feel you have sort of animalistic nature then you are an animal don't talk on behalf of humanity please

Idk.
Is Legacy still available to play?
@@PowerBalancetheKitsune yes! I think
It is no wonder that animals suffer in captivity when people believe that they do not need to survive psychologically.

I’m definitely the first one. Not the second
and the isle is just an game :P. but yeah i agree you cant make people behave as dinos cause we are humans. i love the game too. and i wont stop playing it, just take a break in between sometimes for new updates and so on :)
BS you need both to have fun!
I actually really like the "surviving physically" aspect of this game. I play this game to shut off my brain and just be an animal lol. I found legacy very boring due to the amount of things that just don't matter, such as where to travel.
Like I VERY much enjoy that the mechanics actually make you act like the animal.
I have a pc
Bro thats actually an incorrect comparison

The isle balance is fuck*d
I would much rather play a game that respects it's community
counterpoint, if you dont enjoy pretending to be a dinosaur, maybe dont play the dinosaur simulator

Animals behaving like animals isn't boring, the actual problem is the game is badly designed in it's gameplay loop.
Bro wants a game with zero mechanics and nothing to do YAGUYWGD
Migrations, diets, unique abilities- its what has made The Isle actually start to be fun, for the first time ever imo
/start/ to. AI is always inconsistent and migrations need lotsa work and yada yada yada, but if u want a game with literally zero rules just play in the Unreal editor or something segfu
games have in-game rules, its how they work.
I’m just talking about this, not necessarily to say I want something or not :) I enjoy Evrima
@@mrbeardmTV Weird cause you argued that what The Isle is currently doing is striping away player agency and is against human nature. Which doesnt make sense anyway.
If you strip away everything in a game that makes it that game then they all turn into boring ass walking sims with this false sense of 'you can do anything'
You can only ""do anything"" because the game has no meat to it.
I didn’t say I want Legacy. I prefer Evrima.
