a lot of us were calling pay to win the second they started prioritising that bs 'paid mod' system addition over actual content we payed for, with a couple of lame excuses for it being for creators.
If only they added dinos.., but this isn't even a dino, so they are not only stepping towards PTW, but also towards making Ark even less of a dinosaur game then it already was..

It's not unimaginable that Wildcards method to help curb real money transactions between players, is to allow players to give that money to Wildcard instead. It's against every ToS in every single online game, and guess what those games have done? Added methods for the devs to get that money instead of players. It's not the devs fault that games are like this.
The most messed up move is the fact that you can still get treasure maps off creatures but when you try and use it you get a fat “would you like to buy bobs tale dlc?” Screen pop up

@@robertkessler2574 its a scam when you pay for it multiple times, and they are also not working on the content we DID pay for. The second time payment (which we were origionally told was free) was meant for the game to be improved and built from ground up, all we got was a huge downgrade in gameplay , with a lot of features removed only to be replaced by garbage cut and paste content and pay to win creatures to fix the now (probably deliberate) downgrades. ...that, by definition, is a scam. You seem like one of those very obvious snail/wc mouthpieces that pop up with a generic account spouting apologetics any time there is criticism.
A remaster for a game is not inherently a scam, but it'd be nice if, you know, the remaster wasn't also full of bugs

What is your point? we have 1/4 of the structure, 1/2 the creatures, less than 1/4 of the render distance andy more features than you can count removed entireley, that is the very definition of downgrade. where is the upgrade? the couple of assets they sprinkled on top to make people who had never seen the game think it 'looks pretty'? Also interesting take given I have not reacted to criticism in this thread anywhere, lol.
The real issue is there are enough people who don't care and will still buy it just because they think it's cool.

As it's added to the base game I'm fine with it! Instead of having to constantly update ark additions mods for them to function. I'll gladly buy it!
I mean if you play pvp you are at a severe disadvantage fighting people when they have a shoulder flame thrower and pump.
I did that. I only play single player and my only thought was:
"Huh, cool creature for 5€. I'll buy it."
Mean the Train system thing is cool and really if it was just Cosmetic things like Unique saddles, structures but dont have a power advantages just skins you put on the items then this would not be a big deal, plus doesn't the Bob's Tales the DLC's with mainly the Cosmetics or is Aberration going to buff creatures or give exclusive creatures for those who buy it.

I have no issues with it if you could keep it under control. But let's be real, no company can or will. Greed corrupts this world so bad. The best move they could do is... after a couple of months, the paid for dlc becomes included in the game. But I'm sure that won't happen. I, for 1 don't mind spending money on games for cosmetics added later into the game. Same time, I want shit fixed before I get new stuff. So many basic issues they never fix. Maybe EA bought all of arks stocks to control its micro wars

steve said a few months but thats a lie. the last expansion litterly had a oasis saur that was pay to win. you could drop structures . carry golems etc. Its been ptw since extinction.
@dk229910 but the thing is... people like me value their time. If I can work for 1 hour and save several hours of in-game headaches, then it's worth it to me as long as I have the extra money. But these stupid companies take things way too far beyond necessary. Games were considered successful for making 20mil from sales. Now billions aren't enough. my last straw was when they released the DLC season pass and said it would cover all future DLCs but in the end didn't. in the end still need to pay for DLCs

I miss the days where Ark just had dinosaurs (and other actually prehistoric creatures). Were they all scientifically accurate? Nope. But it feels like the fantasy creatures outnumber them now and it kinda kills the feel.
I completely agree. I only use actual dinosaurs that existed, not fantasy. I absolutely despise all fantasy creatures in the game.

Wild Card knew exactly what they were doing releasing this with the Center. Without being able to uncryo, carrying or running a tame all across the Center map to run a cave is ridiculous. Making buying the DLC the only option.

@@KatieW-mf4mw I dont know what he's talking about but in patch notes what i have found is that they reduced activation timer of Cryofridge from 300 seconds to 90 seconds and you can no longer deploy creatures from cryopods that you were not supposed to tame like Alpha Raptor. Apparently that was possible due to a bug that got fixed.
@@KatieW-mf4mw , I believe the reference is to what cryopods were in ASE versus ASA. In ASE you could throw a cryopod out anywhere on the map as long as the dino could fit in the space you were throwing. In ASA you have to have a cryofridge within range. People would have "pocket gigas" or other pocket dinos on hand they would throw out and use, then cryo back up. That isn't as possible now due to cryofridge range restrictions.
Its not the only option, you just have a skill issue like every other grown person crying about this

What I hate is that even on single player they include the paid dinos, and bobs tt in the game even if you didn’t buy them to rub it in your face.
They are essentially organic advertisements within the game. I don't even want to play on the new maps because of it.

At least on PC you can probably go into the .ini and disable the spawns for single player.

I just wanted to put some early counter-points out there I know you're going to get because H.O.D and others have WC sycophants that will defend this (which they have a right to of course).
1) Many people will argue that there wasn't as much controversy within the community when the original paid map expansion DLCs came out, and I'd like to note that's a false narrative. Kishko notably stopped playing becuase he recognized how much of a detriment to the original game Extinction was -specifically the managarmr. However many players before then, notably those that either couldn't afford to, or didn't want to, buy the DLCs found it unfair - you could be raided from a map you couldn't access, dinos and equipment were added that continuously tipped the scales, and many balance patches needed to be applied. It was ALWAYS an issue. -Here's the counter point to that: Eventually free DLC maps were added that gave access to many of those engrams and dinos. Unlike the Pyromane, you could still use any dino/equipment yourself from DLC you didn't own if someone gave it to you (freely or in PvP), and those maps were, well, maps! Is the shadowmane as (1) dino, really worth 1/4th the content of say, Aberration? Of course not. It's substantially more bang for your buck AND it expanded the game content which led towards Ark as a completed game - the collector's edition which contained all DLC.
2) "Developers need to get paid, they're a business" and you're absolutely right! They do! However, the devs of Rust, Fortnite, myriad other survival and PvP oriented games have managed to integrate paid mechanics that don't tip the scales in the favor of those who either have the funds, or have the desire to support them. The cambridge definition of P2W is as follows: "involving or relating to the practice of paying to get weapons, abilities, etc. that give you an advantage over players who do not spend money" cut and dry, the Pyromane & Bob's tall tales, some could argue even more-so than the previous DLC maps, are P2W content. Specifically because as previously stated, you cannot access this content whatsoever unless you pay for it. The issue ISN'T the community not wanted the devs being paid: why would they have bought the game in the first place afterall? That argument is purely a straw man fallacy. The issue is that ASA promised all the previous DLC for free, and they are obligated to keep that promise. The paid DLC now unequivocally adds an advantage over those that don't give in, to those on the same map. Those that don't have BTT had the Oasisaur drop golems and titans dropped on them. Those that don't own the Pyromane will have their walls rocket ran and selves set on fire. The devs need to be paid of course, but that's what premium mods and cosmetic items are for, as well as their deal with Nitrado which SHOULD have been to their financial benefit, and of course the initial purchase of the game.
3) It's only 5 bucks. Correct, good catch, it is only 5 bucks. It's only 5 dollars that everyone individually needs to pay, from the CEO who plays in his off time to the 11yo kid in poverty playing at his friend's house. As long as all current roughly 45k people playing ASA buy it, then it's an even playing field! But then what? The next 5 dollar, 10 dollar, 20 dollar P2W dino/item/engram comes out. By the end (assuming they ever stop) you'll have put over 3-4x (135-180usd) the cost of the original game JUST to either have an advantage over the regular player, or to "support the devs" on a handful of dinos and items, when originally half that price granted you 6 whole maps with their associated tames and items. ASA is currently 45usd. BTTs is 30usd and the pyromane is 5usd. With JUST those 2 DLCs alone we're at 78% the cost of the initial game - does that sound like it's a fair deal to you? The issue isn't it only being 5 dollars. The issue is it's a slippery slope that isn't just a fallacy, it's a historical trend for developers to push the envelope AND you're being objectively cheated.
4) it's not that op. This one is almost self-explanatory. Shoulder-pet to ridden on a dime, can bypass enemy foundations negating the cryopod changes, infinite shoulder-mounted flamethrower, pre-saddled with 60armor, will be able to/can be bred for mutes, is entirely fire-based which is the current meta, AND is a passive tame that you can get almost immediately if you make a trap for it. Is it going to beat a giga or carch? No, but neither do most if any previous DLC dinos. What it will do is give a clear and definitve advantage in PvP that bypasses all the current mechanics in ASA and again, isn't accessible to anyone that hasn't paid for it.
5) stop crying. Why? If your neighbor gets their roof's shingles re-done and thinks the job is poor while you don't, your opinion doesn't negate nor trump theirs. They have just as much a right to demand more from the service they've elected as much as you do a right to be content with yours. The issue with this argument is quite literally, constructive criticism will always be to the benefit of the whole, while sitting back in complacency will only benefit the originators of the service. The community at large doesn't like what's going on - and presumably if the detractors left à la "if you don't like it, get out" you'd be left with a truly dead game, as that opinion is the current minority. For every mesh hole fix, for every PvP rebalance, for every DLC that became a free modded map, for every cheater that got reported, behind them all was someone raising the flag of discontent and concern. You don't complain about something becuase you DON'T care about it, you complain because you do - that applies to everything in life. From a dino survival game, to your job, to marriage, to life, you should want to fix what's deemed broken - to better. Content creators are there to give a voice to the people, because they've put the work in to build a platform, and they've promoted the game a LOT more than bob-schmo beach-man.
Lastly, I'll just say this. Most everyone that's watching this video, and HOD, and Shane, and Xavii, and every content creator that isn't simply meat riding - we all want the game to succeed, and by extension, studio WC, and to a lesser degree for obvious reasons, Snail Games. We love Ark. It's truly a bang for your buck game and unique - but there's a limit to what the community can/should take. If the detractors of this argument TRULY believe in what they're saying then fine - go and buy copies of ASA for the people you know, go to the WC store and buy their merch, and buy every premium cosmetic mod you can - it will ALL support the devs in a way that doesn't support unfair gaming practices or encourage their implementation. You can tell from the lack of Ark videos from your favorite or even lesser known YT'ers and streamers that the game is essentially on life support - everyone needs to encourage WC and SG to benefit the community in a way that can actually garner them a desire to support the game - becuase currently, most are feeling cheated. Literally, and figuratively.

Bro, I'm speechless rn, you have a major point right there. Honestly, it surprises me that they don't listen the criticism people throw at them, mainly any DLC/MTX to be purely cosmetics only. Like I don't mind paying $5 for a skin pack about Norse Culture that adds Viking Armor Skins, Nordic Furnature, Skins for Weapons and Structures, as its purely cosmetic and doesn't give me any advantages over people who don't pay for it. They kinda had the right idea with BTT, key word KINDA, but still fumbled the bag. Simply the Pyromane was one of the worst idea they had, and while the creature admittedly looks cool, it's just scummy to put out a DLC just after releasing a different DLC for a free DLC map in a EARLY ACCESS GAME. And Honestly it saddens me that they are prioritizing Premium Mods and their DLC over adding the remastered ASE maps and making sure said maps have the least amount of bugs possible.

Ark Ascended is LITERALLY just Ark Survival Evolved with glitter. WildCard literally just piled a tub of glitter onto shit. I like Ark SE, but I'm sure as hell *NOT* gonna spend a single penny on it, or on ASA, or any fancy ass new dinos WildCard shit out. They never fixed anything with the old game, so why tf would I trust them with anything they say about the new game.

I refuse to buy ASA or anything they sell. I already purchased everything for ASE and I shouldn’t have to pay AGAIN for the same dang game with better graphics. If the Ark community would have stuck together and refused to buy their update, they would have been forced to change their ways. But instead, they continue to get away with whatever they want because the community continues to eat up all the s*** SN and WC feed them. I love ark. It’s my all time favorite game. But I refuse to fall into line on this.
I don't expect you to change however calling it essentially a copy and paste game is subjectively incorrect the oasisaur isn't old nor is the additions to each of the maps quit complaining because you CHOSE to buy it I refused to get it until it got remade because I heard a good amount about ark from diehard fans; accept you made a poor decision and move on.

I dont mind buying remasters at all personally, it's what they're doing with it. I should be able to repurchase it with all the prior dlcs, and the new maps shouldn't be terrible compared to the maps they once made on ASE. But mainly any new creatures they add shouldn't be bought separately and should be readily avaliable in specific maps. Im just bothered by their low effort in map design and cash crab creatures. Remasters have been around for awhile and I dont mind those at all as long as they're honest.
I felt that way for a while too but I like the changes it has made for instance the building is so much better.
I refuse to give anymore money to snail. I prefer the original the new ASA is so empty the original center was teaming with dinos. The only bonus is a graphical upgrade.

I haven't bought the pyromane, so i can't tame it. I won't say i can't interact with it though, because even though i haven't bought it, it can still kill me. I understand that people who buy it are rewarded with the ability to tame it. However those of us that haven't still have these overpowered monsters running around our maps, so it's kinda like we're being punished for not coughing up the dough. Are they game developers, or the mob? "If you pay we can make things real nice for you, but if you don't pay up things can get more difficult for you."

Wild Pyromane are weak af. Barely have 4k hp when High lvl, dont do much dmg, are only on a single island like no they arent running around relax

I'm much more upset about the soulless "remaster" of the center. It barely resembles the source material in many places and feels super bland.
I'm strictly a single player and the main reason I was playing ASA was for the beautiful, nostalgic upgrade to ASE.
It does bother me that paid creatures spawn on the map whether your purchase them or not, but again, as a single player, it doesn't affect me too much. I feel for anyone who plays on servers though
Thankfully the guy who made the Gaia's Potions mod made a mod that removes the Pyromane as well as the Oasisaur from your maps.
@@JuanCarlosSanchez-oo3sz Oasisaur isnt that strong anyway since it pretty much doesnt do anything and its slow. Pyromane on the other hand has some good utility but its not that strong with damage as some might expect. Thyla or later Shadowmane are still stronger in my opinion. Having them spawn on the map is mostly issue for PvP but since Pyromane doesnt have that much hp you can kill it fairly easily. I've seen lvl 90 rex kill 150 Pyromane in under 30 seconds. Both wild. Also if tamed Pyromane dies it explodes dealing most damage to its rider. Havent tested it in a while but i think last time it happened the explosion did over 100 damage and 30 sec fire DoT that hurts quite a lot too. Pyromane could be good for caves but for those you would take it you can easily do with any other tame you can get inside and for the rest you would need an army of them to do anything like hard ice cave. And if you just run through for the artifact you might aswell run it naked at that point.
yeah I bought Asa when it first came out but never played because how ugly it felt and how clunky the ui felt, I DL it again the other day because the center was my favorite map but now the whole map is unrecognizable. Took the charm right out of it 😢

Nekatus had a really good take. In some years we will be playing Fjordur and every 5th creature will be a paid dlc that will send you to a storefront when you try to tame it. Wipes away all the immersion they have spent so long building in this game.

This is the saddest news. I was an Ark boy way back since game preview on Xbox. I remember free Dino updates like they were massive events. ASA was a kick in the nads, but I said, “Hey. One of my favorite games in 4k 60fps, why not?” The game looks horrendous on my series s. And now paid DLC after we already paid for an incomplete game twice? Steve is 1000% right. What a rip!

There's a very simple fix for this just make it a premium Mod and take it out official servers and the make to new fantastic creatures also premium mods

Definitely feeling the regret for picking up Ascended. I could begrudgingly overlook Bob's tales and paid mods, but the cash-grabby creature DLC's was the straw that broke the camels back. Anyone who bought this incomplete and unoptimized engine update already paid their tithe for the extra content with the price of the base game and bob's tales. The fact that these "Fantastic Tames" series of DLC are not even offered in a season pass style DLC like Bob's tales should raise a lot of red flags about their intent. It's very likely these DLC are not going to end at just five or so, but more well over a dozen before Ascended reaches its EOL. Serving as a carrot on a stick on top of the 'premium' mods they'll dangle in front of you.
This predatory DLC is completely inexcusable, Its about time for the consumers to stop bailing out and defending Wildcard and Snail Games for their countless mistakes.
This is by far the skeeziest move Studio Wildcard has ever tried to bust out. Makes me so sick I'm no longer excited about the Power Rangers announcement coming up tbh.

Wildcard money grabbing has honestly ruined my entire view on the game and I have refused to play it or support a cluster for years now. I personally don’t mind honestly. Paid dlc isn’t a new thing and as you stated it’s optional for you to purchase. It is their job at the end of the day and they have to constantly find ways to make money. That’s the whole reason they redid Ark. it wasn’t for a better game. It was for a way to generate ongoing revenue. I saw this coming when they introduced paid mods and made a lot of other poor decisions. Luckily for me, I hate the plastic look and feel of the ‘new’ game. WC really needs to go outside and take a look at some real vegetation. I’ve also never been a supporter of micro transactions. Expansion packs that add new life into a game by expanding on its content and by opening new gameplay is always welcome, but piece-mealing is not something I’ll support.
What Ark really needed was content: more building and decor options, more food and gardening. maybe some smaller and less noisy utilities. Some added gameplay would have been nice. Instead all they did was mush as many stones and vegetation as they could onto a map without breaking it, and jack all the rendering settings as high as they’d go to make a clusterfuck mess. Good on them.
My 11,000 hours in ASE will remain with ASE. ASA just isn’t good enough to justify its own existence. I haven’t played ASA since the xmas event. I’ve literally only gone in and glanced at the newer maps before finding some paint to watch dry. There is literally nothing to see here.
Oh, and I disabled the pyromane spawns on our servers. The sooner I can shut this shitshow down, the better. I’d rather host a game worth hosting; not some pathetic attempt at a bald man’s comb-over.
Everyone can blame everyone else for why this happened, but at the end of the day, shit is still shit.

for me the thing that i hate the most is not that its p2w, the p2w factor was back from ase in the DLCs were you have op dinos, op farming resources etc. the thing i hate the most is the lack of effort, the dino have 0 effort put into it and its just a copy of the shadowmane for money, its not like back in ase where you get an entire new map with entierly new creatures and mechanics, its just a a shadowmane reskinned and for money, yeah im not buying this shit
That's a good point too, it is just a shadow mane reskin. But, the idea of DLC on a paid game is more digestible than paying for just one Dino. This is the lowest Ark has been and no sign of it getting better.

I feel like this is mainly a dispute between pve and pvp players cuz withe pve it's just new content for them to enjoy but for pvp it's more of if u need this tamed to stay on top than u have to buy which it shouldn't be even when they added new dinos to ase they were never payed for unless it was the dlc itself but they'd come in a l8r free dlc map
I'm a PvE guy and this bothers me. Snail chose not to reinvest the massive profit back into the franchise. Now they are chopping Ark up into tiny pieces to keep development going. It's not even clear if the money from these DLC's will actually be spent on development. That money will probably go into Snails pockets.

@@youtubecommenter_ I totally agree here. We are Pve players now on official move away from pvp awhile ago. for us this is a new nice tame to play with breed up and play with colors. For pvp however it is a broken must have and needs to be address somehow. I would be very upset if they removed the cat now as we do really enjoy them. They are a really strong tame but I feel its one of the few creatures in years I've had fun riding even more so than the shadowmane.
@calgrissom9181 that's what I figured what they should do is have a kind of setting to where the creatures purchased with money are an option in pve and just as default not included in official servers or atleast official pvp servers cuz imo the creature are good but they're not broken like oasisaur rebirthing dead dinos u don't really get the Dino u lost back as of it was a raised tame its more of what it would be in the wild and u have to raise it all over again and u can't build any defense on it so having it as a base spot on pvp is just dumb and pyromane I don't think it as a mount is op but more so the ability of it being so easily shiftable between mount to shoulder pet and it is as well as it being a shoulder flame turret but my counter to that is we had the tea shoulder cannon so...... cmon it's just that but fire and u get to close the distance more

The issue I have with the new MTX in ASA is that if you do not buy it, you can not use most of it.
Ark was always P2W. However, if you did not buy a DLC map, the only thing you lost access to was the map, bonus levels and tekgrams from beating the boss since the other creatures and items could be given/traded by people that own the DLC.

Because of the way wildcard went about it. They were purposely shady this entire time leading up to this whereas star citizen have been extremely transparent from the beginning. that's what the problem is

If the Destiny 2 devs can scam an entire industry to follow them over the live service cliff and somehow Fallout 76 can live through record low player numbers then ASA is going to ride this gravy train into a low player sunset and survive. There's no way it can't. The franchise has been out too many years for it to fail outright even if they put a low price tag on everything which is all they'll need to keep the whales happy. Especially with the news of Aberration probably having airships to explore the planet surface and Extinction getting vehicles we never got from ASE.

The one dino I believe everyone would pay for is an early access Maewing for $5 , or Maewing / Incubator pack for $10... free when Gen 2 comes out, but early access use now if you pay. That is what everyone really wants.

Maybe the community is forgeting that when Ark was released there was NO crypods, they just added cryopod early to the games cause there's much more players today than almost ten years ago when ASE was released, and the servers would be dino capped too fast. They have already lessened the time to release creatures and they problably will remove the necessity of bein near a cryofridge when they release Extinction, the original map of pod...
Pyromane is not p2w cause it's not a game changing mechanic, you can just wait for the pod map for the restriction be over and wait for magmasaur that do almost the same thing with lava except for meat and the Ferox for shoulder mount thing.
All games on earth require you to download the DLC in order to even see it in game. Wildcard forces it into your game, call it a dlc, and psychologically mind trick you into paying more money. 5 bucks isn't much.......but the lie is woth a lot. On PVE single player / private servers this is less bad. It's quite bad on public servers. As for the Bob's Tell Tales DLC: Talk about emersion ruining.
So basically you will pay for the full game package that includes base game, Bob dlc packs, possible future dlc map (29 dollars, and 99 cents), and Fantastic creature for every unofficial map at least 134 dollars, and 97 cents. I am not counting premium mods here, and possible future additional microtransactions.

100% agree. I won ASA in a giveaway, as I can't afford it I was over the moon. Pay to win is never okay. At least give us the option to disable the stupid pay to win DLC's instead of forcing us to encounter it constantly, rubbing in our faces that more than half of the ark community can't afford to keep buying things just to play the base game with things included in the base game.

Imagine if the had done that with wyverns on ASE, you buy the scorched dlc, find out you have to drop another few dollars just for a dino for that map, and the maps they spawned on afterward, like rag. Or the damn Reaper on Abb, same thing, I don't think players would have stood for it. The game would have gone under very quickly.

I get that servers cost money and for them to keep running every year there needs to be some kind of flow of money and not just a one time purchase. What they needed to do was make it a monthly subscription to play official. I know a lot of people wouldn't want to do that but be realistic. But I also don't like the unbalanced dinos

It seems to me like many games of its age, the need for constant growth to keep everyone’s paychecks coming in was given bandaids in the form of “bigger, better” creatures and tech, rendering many old tames mostly useless, and like any cancer out or control, it is killing the host.
Ill pay 100 dollars for a dlc that adds npc, towns, missions, the ability to dodge with player and dinos, and the ability to climb with characters without using picks.
In other words, you'd buy Ark2.

Makes me wonder what they are doing with the Phoenix. They "messed up" Scorched Earth weather events where there is maybe one heat wave every 24 to 30 hours, and Phoenix are next to impossible to find (on official) now since they released Pyromane. Maybe a new variant of Phoenix will launch under their new "Fantastic Tames" category of dinos, be able to shoulder mount, and other abilities, all for $5? Hmmm ...
Don't forget their spin off game of pixark....had potential and now it's a game that hasn't been updated in years. The servers were lively, but game breaking bugs made them abandoned after the first month.

First, he already talked about how the money this creature makes is likely not going to Ark in any capacity.
Second, ASA is already a Paid Game. so adding any microtransactions like that is scummy itself. but at the very least they could have looked at any popular ftp game and made any Microtransactions purely cosmetic. but making an already paid game P2W in any capacity is possibly the worst thing a developer could do.
Third, the fact that you can not disable the Pyromane without mods makes it even worse, because now the developers are pretty much just taunting you like "Oh you see this cool tame? it's right in front of you. but if you want it, then you better pay up". Think of it this way. if the DLC maps ended up being paid DLC again, I guarantee you that, for example, when Ragnarok eventually comes out. they would have done this exact thing with Scorched Earth Creatures. all of them still spawning in but you can't tame them unless you buy the DLC. Imagine flying into the Wyvern Trench, but trying to pick up the eggs sends you to a store to buy the DLC, that's pretty much what the Pyromane is.
And fourth, you saying that it doesn't do anything better than any regular dinos is just completely false. A fire wyvern can't shrink and turn into a shoulder pet, to be used as a shoulder mounted flamethrower when raiding bases (While also able to ride on a different creature with your shoulder flamethrower). which, in PVP, are most likely in places that would be pretty much impossible for a Wyvern to fit in. I'm not a PVP player myself, but PVP is a big portion of the community, and this thing is absolutely busted in that sense.
Last, but certainly not least, this sets a precedent which he explained in the beginning. "It's just $5". well soon its gonna be another $5.. then another.. then another.. What's stopping them from adding more creatures, maybe even more scummy and p2w than the Pyromane, and making them cost more? $10? $15? $20? Snail Games is gonna turn Ark into a worse microtransaction hell than it already is becoming. this is just the beginning.

Something else I don't think people are aware of is that the original arc game I tried it about 2 weeks ago or so it's starting to have graphical glitches and errors so obviously means they're not up keeping it anymore so eventually anyone who still likes original ark like myself it'll become the prehistoric overhaul mod and eventually break and become unplayable
I'm probably in the minority here, but I figured I would share my opinion. I love ARK, and I remember paying $15/$20 for maps back in the day. I wasn't fazed then, and this doesn't bother me either. Players pay $15 a month for World of Warcraft, or the fiasco that is the Madden series ((those are players have something to be pissed about)) or even sims 4, a free game with over $1,200 worth of DLC to get everything created for the game... People who care about their games will pay to support them. And if Ark is going to give me a map for free, and an option for a $5 dino, or a $15 expansion, I'm going to pay it and support my game. When it's all said and done, the hours of entertainment and time I spend playing the game, it's well worth it to me.
No, you're not in the minority. We do love supporting our games that we love and treasure. However, we do not want to support SnailGames and their cashgrabby behavior to fund their next EV or whatever he plans next.
I used to play ESO, paid the $15 a month for the bag and bank upgrade, put money into cosmetics, pre-ordered new story content with all the bells and whistles. I play 7 days to die on PC, if they would tell me I would have to buy the game again with the rollout of the 1.0 version, hell yeah, I'd do it! Why? Because I want to support my fave games! I want my fave games to be worked on, to get new content, I want them to succeed! As long as the money is going to the game, the developers, future games by the developer! A publisher that wants the game to succeed! That's the problem!
The streamlined build mode, creature tracker, and true cross-platform play between Steam and Xbox were the only reasons I bought ASA. These should have just been quality-of-life updates for ASE. Had I known that Wild Card was going to give ASA the cash-grab treatment that is far too prevalent these days, I don't think I would have bought it. It is infuriating to see something in the game that I paid money for and can't use because I didn't pay that little bit extra. If there was an option to turn off the paid DLC items/creatures, then it wouldn't be anywhere near as bad. But when I look in my inventory and see a treasure map, click on it, and get a popup telling me to pay money to actually use this item, that's unforgivable.
Lets look at this on the company side of things.
-First, they are a company and need to make money to keep going and working on games and projects
-Second, ASA is much cheaper than ASE originally was, along with that you get every map dlc for free.
-Bob's tales a 30$ dlc that will include a bunch of stuff for every story dlc map.
You get good content for the game and most of the stuff is decor/cosmetic(Rust has/does the same thing)
-The fantastic beasts if assuming all are gonna be priced at the same as pyromane is 5$. Thats fairly cheap.
Overall I don't think its too bad. People tend to forget that company's make games and they need money to continue with games.
I've been playing Ark since early 2016, it was my favorite game ever and maybe still is, it's the home of all of my best gaming memories and maybe even some of the best memories of my life playing og ark with some friends on a late Saturday night. I've invested thousands of hours into the game, bought every dlc and the game on multiple platforms. Over the years tho they killed what made ark so lovable to so many people and ruined that charm it had whether that be because things felt rushed or because it just became a someway pricey game to play if you wanted to play the new dlc maps. The release of ark ascended was the day I feel ark died for many people as it was a tell that there was no going back to just a fun little survival game to play with friends, and now is just a corporate cash grab. Not that anybody cares probably but I stopped paying for snail games bullshit and I think you should too, all we're doing is killing the game we once grew to love, maybe if snail finally goes to shit, ark can be left to rest in peace instead of being beaten like a dead horse
Everything you said is so true. I've played Ark from day one. like many people made friends all around the world and had a lot of fun over the years but now I feel the game has turned into a complete scam. Your right that they're making us pay 3x for the game and to be honest it's not much different, still lag, still rubber band, still blue screen.

You are right. Paying again for ark ascended already had me asking questions........first thing I saw was bobs tall tales, that made it worst for me. At first I didn't buy it but all my friends had it so I gave in after a couple of months. Then the 5 dollar dino.....that is where I draw the line and said Heck No! So many bugs still remain, they don't fix it yet they still keep squeezing the money from us. I didn't know about the car company they were working on. Wow, just wow!!!
You're 100% right on all of this. It is a money grab so Snail can pay their debts and work to kill Ark. As to your question of whether or not I will get the Pyromane/other Paid DLC creatures and other DLCs similar to Bob's Tall Tales, the short simple answer is no I won't. I can't buy stuff for a game that I don't own.

You know whats sad? SG/WC arent doing anything differently than most corporations are doing to consumers, and the majority of people are none the wiser. They get to collect our data for free and use it to profile us for ads, and they can keep pushing outrageous things like asking for more money for shiny low-effort mundane things until it becomes normalized. I imagine the game won't die, and there won't be a large enough boycott to get SG/WC to reconsider their approach. Personally, I loved ark since ASE, and I do enjoy the improvements to ASA (especially building), but I'm annoyed by the whole interacting with a paywall thing. I'm just waiting to see how this all unfolds at this point.

I got in a debate with someone on twatter arguing it wasn't pay to win because it "has a counter" (the Pyromane, they meant, though they never said what said counter is or how people would work around it. I assume they meant water, but the thing reignites very quickly, veritably flies, and has a shoulder form) and it's only $5 whereas World of Warcraft sells mounts for $30 so we weren't allowed to complain unless we got ripped off that much. Mounts are purely cosmetic for the most part. They don't change the entire meta of the game and how people play it. Really goes to show how unintelligent these bootlickers are when they're trying to gatekeep how people view money and games. Also I just found it so funny that "well Blizzard is worse" was their argument as if people haven't been actively hating on Blizzard for that crap for years.
yup, started with the oasisaurus. the moment the pyromane released watched the trailer, the pvp flamethrower and the character laugh, "pay to win" flew outa my mouth

I for one, have not and will not buy any ASA DLC. I had a plan to buy the new story DLCs, but that's long gone now. No thanks if this is Ark's monetization scheme. If they immediately pull a 180, then MAYBE, but they won't. The Center was completely screwed up, so i doubt there's any hope.
Although, this entire debacle is hilarious, getting some good laughs watching people cope these monetization methods will save Ark and make it better. Reddit so far has been the best clown car of "yes man"
It's so bad. Lets say, even if ARK 2 get released, what happens to ASA? Imagine we payed 50€ for ASE, 50€ for ASA, 25€ for DLCs and Pyromane. As soon as Ark 2 is published, ASA will be over. It says that in their yearly report, the license is valid until the release of ARK 2.
So, as soon as ARK 2 is published, all that money ist gone, and the DLCs arent usable anymore.
Maybe they had a few lessons at EA about money grabbing...
Thanks for your point of view and this video. You don't even have to bring up the point of whether people can afford it or not because thats irrelevant for the seller. As you mentioned in earlier videos first they announced ASA as free upgrade from ASE. Well it's clear that they need money and they try to find ways to obtain it in a manner that is resulting in an ASA that is just a game full with microtransactions to finance other projects. I totally agree with you and it's sad but I personally thought of buying bobs tales but in the end I asked myself how often do I enjoy ASA as it is now, well I have a RTX 4090 and an I9-13900k and the game is crashing and stuttering and so on, I didn't bought it and that was the best decision because in the long term I'm guessing we won't receive the full maps as they mentioned in the roadmap if not enough money comes in via microtransactions. ASA is a gamble for official content in my opinion.
As a pvp main on official i can confirm the pyromane is indeed OP. If you have 2 or 3 against your enemy that’s 3x that flame attack that drains health. Shreds soakers and dps tames

Still playing og ark here. Still having fun. trying to create new strategies and handicaps. Been thinking about getting ASA for a little while now but this pretty much staked that in the heart. The "Games as a service" mentality that EA started has now spread into Ark like the worst case of game killing AIDS we could see. Such a shame. I was excited to see ARK 2.

I bought ASA while I wait for at least gen1 to hit before I start playing through the story, did grab the bobs tales since it said it's gonna introduce more stuff for more dlc later... and flying base dino(?) hoping either someone makes a cryopod that can hold it with a full base in place for easy server transfers, or I might have to crack open the DevKit for the first time since ASE (Well it's a different devkit, but you get the idea) and try to do it myself.... But based on release schedule I have a good 6+ months to wait anyway XD
Question is, if they exist in the game... can't mods do anything with them?
Then again... I have a funny feeling once every DLC is out they'll just either 'unlock' them for everyone out of the kindness of their wallet or bundle everything together into a price similar to the game and sell it that way so waft off the microtransaction smell

I am done with Ark and I haven’t played it in months. I love the game even with some of the bugs and is why I still like to keep up with new and updates about the game. Their business practices are crap. Missed deadlines, expectations, and pay to win. Plenty of other games out there to play and more survival games competing in their genre. Elden Ring DLC is coming out. I hate it for some of my favorite ark content creators, but appreciate the honesty in this vid and all the vids you create ❤!
i like ark. i want the game to stay alive. If we want content and make them work on the game they need money. we dont have to pay for all the maps, they need to pay there ppl, do we want Ark 2? and more ASA stuff? we dont have to buy it if we dont want.

I very much agree. Ark is a wonderful game and I feel like not only did they not take the creativity to possibly make it better in terms of just applying to the story and adding more depth like being able to clime with your bare hands for the amount of time you have stamina and I'm sure theirs more, but now they are requesting money for mods. Where mode creators where just doing it for fun, and giving us something to enjoy and we could honestly admire the work of those just starting out or those who wanted to express themselves. That's partly why I haven't bought it. Thanks for creating these videos and showing those of us not able to keep up with the hubbub of what goes on, and just giving it to use straight.
