I absolutely hate the idea of the cannibalistic mutations, especially for the slow moving herbis that can't escape nor defend itself from larger specimens of its own species. Even with sparring, its just a bad idea, and it will have to be meta to take it every single dino just in case. This is what I was worried about with mutations, is unfair advantages. I wanted mutations to be like secret skin patterns or faster growth, slower food decay. Nothing that would affect fights. :/
night vison range increase or animal sound detection increase is the closest i want mutations to be helpful in combat,it will just get min -maxed for combat every time because that's usually the biggest threat too your survival, not food and water drain, too say dondi keeps saying he doesn't want this to be a combat game, he's not going the right way about it.
Devs literally doubled down on one of the most idiotic parts of the game that only exists because of their incompetence and glacial pace at developing species, and then even handed it out to even the things that don't eat meat. Not to mention, now there's a mutation for non-cannibalistic carnivores to become cannibals. Whoever thought these combat/cannibalism mutations were good ideas needs to just...never have an idea again.

The mutations and unstuck button has made me smile while playing the game, improving ur dino with mutations, and unstucking its fat ass when you cant crawl up that 1 inch of rock.

Intraspecific aggression perk needs to be removed entirely. There are so many cool mutations I wanna take on Deino, like extra oxygen, extra swim speed, gaining water while raining, drinking salt water, decreased thirst decay, increased healing, increased underwater vision, etc. but I'm forced to waste one slot on this boring ass flat damage buff just so I'm not at an objective disadvantage against every single other Deino on the server.
This^ it's a bad perk. Shouldn't exist. All flat damage perks should be banished from the game as they're required to become the meta. Otherwise you're at a disadvantage.

Yup, there's a reason I kept to myself and ran away at the first sign of others throughout my growth! I also took the less-traveled paths to migration and did my best to stay away from the main food spawn areas

Right x] interspecific aggression is probably the lamest mutation added, simply because if you get in a canni fight, whether as an actual cannibal species or as a herbivore, if you don't have that mission and they do, losing feels like "oh, I died more because they had a damage buff than because of their actual skill." Same with if you kill someone while having it "did I win because I fought skillfully or did I win because I had a damage buff?"
I haven’t even encountered a canni dibble yet. I was just running in the pitch dark while it was thunder storming for 2 and a half hours trying to get to Metta running at a mind numbing pace before I inevitably had to log. The next play session we had was okay. Until we got separated and I died to a cera overpack. I couldn’t find her and I just rage quit XD
*since it rains 90% of the time you might as well pick your first mutation to be the one where you regen water when it rains, it lessens water trips and risks of being spotted by other canni diablos lol*
Honestly I wish they made the babies skinnier and had them gain the bulk as they grow. Then they could have smaller ones be a little more agile or something to help dodge the bigger ones.

You'd think after like over a year of development on dibble alone they'd manage to catch at least a couple of the massive oversights like knocking food off trees but that's probably giving them way too much credit lol

I've actually started playing Ptera on hordetest because of all the Dibble on Dibble violence. The free food is great and I can pick my favorite herd to give callouts to lol.
Gotta say, the Alt lmb attack is key in the dibble v dibble fight. When you look down, you do a stomp, and it's insane how much damage it does. If you look straight, you'll do a directional attack that's great for turning on people when they chase, too.

At best! I think instead of increased damage, mutations should increase defense against same species as an anti-cannibalism mutation. Make it harder for cannis to kill you, so it is more skill-based combat
Dibbles fighting mechanics are kind of ridiculous rn, yesterday I was a full grown cera and I got knocked down by a juvie dibble that was like, barely the height of my ceras knees💀
Yeah if they're running when they hit you, they do a stun on things much larger. I believe based on current numbers, they can stun things up to three tons as adults

Because there's no carnivores to fight and smaller dibbles are too slow to flee. They make the excuse that it is population control, but honestly in most cases it is simply because they want to troll
the kos dibbles , mixpacking at the max and even worse the fast asf sub stegos with their charge attack running around killing adults after getting them to 0 stam ( a herd of sub stegs killed my grp last night ) 💀😭

I love all the dibbles killing one another for the free organs. I haven’t gone hungry since they released, though it does bug the fuck out of me seeing significantly grown players wiping out fresh spawns.

In Acro's perspective, he knocks that one down and hits it a few times. So when I showed up, that guy stayed in the trees
Yup! Unfortunately they take the same slots as the normal mutations so I'm not sure how I feel about that. Makes discovering the hidden ones harder as if your slots are full you just can't activate them
It makes zero sense for them to put mangoes and coconuts on diets of things that cant get them down from trees, literally just make it possible for them or put something else on their diet, like it makes absolutely zero sense

I've been running solo dibble cause i like to avoid huge groups, and the chance of meeting mix-packer but sadly i did meet a single group but they failed miserably to kill me only getting me to orange as a Dibble, Cera, and omni tries there dearest to kill me i laughed at there attempt (Dibbles sprint turn is a savior)
I wont lie, this game has become unbearably painful for me to play for a while now. Decided to take a break and just enjoy videos of it instead. Keep up the great work!

When you were afraid of the dilo that just killed you, and you picked the mutation to take 15% less damage from larger species, I don't think that's what that means. I'm pretty sure it means take less damage from larger species, not larger dinos. Raptors weigh 450kg, so if they took that, it would be for any species that weighs more than that. So, pretty much the entire roster. If a steg picked that, it would only work against deino. I know it weighed less in your video, but Dibble is the 3rd largest animal right now so that mutation would only work against stegs and deinos. I wish they would clarify these descriptions.
Yeah, the descriptions aren't exactly super clear on several of the mutations. And with it being in testing only right now, I can't exactly hop on an admin server to look more closely at values and such
Waay back in 2017 i built my first pc just to play this game. Been over a year now that i took a break from the isle. Every time i see new additions to the game my heart aches to get back on and try it , but then i see stuff like the game encouraging herbies to kill each other , my ptsd kicks in and i crawl back into my bed 😭

While a small community, The Isle community remains severely toxic. Diablos killing diablos, stegos killing anything that moves. massive mixpacking. I played diablo the first couple days it came out, got murdered only by other diablos. Every. Single. Time. So i decided to do something different. I have been playing as a troodon, I find a diablo thats friendly, and I become their battle buddy. Honestly its the most fun I have had in this game in a while... and the diablo calls??? So damn cute!
I wonder if I stumbled upon you once! The other day I was a baby dibble with three adults and another baby. There was a troodon that hung out with us from highlands to south plains before getting killed by a cera. He was a very nice fellow :(
For reals. I'm regrowing right now and gave myself the rain water regen perk because if it's gonna always rain, might as well never have to drink again
Evem if there were random spawns, there would be hotspots. The new hotspot would just be wherever the most migration overlap is. If equal distribution, then it'll be the center of the map and/or the easiest place to travel to from anywhere on the map. Lazy changes like that are temporary solutions to a problem with deeper roots. Players want to interact with other players, and the majority of the game lies in player interaction. The game just isn't fun unless you're around other people. They had somewhat of a right idea with migrations-- instead of trying to fight hotspots, create places for it. The reason this is a somewhat function solution, however, is because it adds something to the game that isn't inherently dependent other players. As long as the game lacks PvE gameplay there will be a drive for hotspots. Same for canni'ing, KOSing, mixpacking, etc. The Isle is just an open-world combat game that puts you on hour(s) long timer until your chosen class is max power.
Hotspots in and of themselves are fine. Migrations are intended to be a form of hotspot. The difference though, is that with regional spawning, carnivore players simply choose the spawn that is available to all or most of them (eg. South) and then never leave. Why should they? They can simply eat the fresh spawns and each other forever. Randomized spawning forces people to start moving. If they're headed to a hotspot, fine. But it's still movement around the map. People can find other players more naturally instead of "okay just spawn South and join the slaughter fest. No don't spawn anywhere else, you'll starve!!1!!" That's the mentality that is driven, even though the rest of the map isn't barren and people can be found in most areas if you know anything about different playables and their player base's behaviors. The amount of arguments I've seen against leaving the hotspots simply because people believe they'll starve is honestly ridiculous. Yes. We absolutely need more PvE things to do. Yes, the game needs more of a gameplay loop. But evrima's regional spawning is what I would consider to be a failed experiment.
fighting for food is whatever.. I saw ppl ESP with mixpacking killing juvies, chat baiting, or whole herd ganging up on one of their own bc they got paranoid one of them is cannibal. hoardtesting is horrible. I'm gonna wait till its out on unofficials to play
For me, the sound issues in Evirma are one of the biggest disappointments. The ambience doesn't work 90% of the time, the audio glitch that crashes your game still exists, and sometimes you cannot hear footsteps of bigger animals at all.
You bring up the same issues I have with the game. Stop giving us set spawns as yeah, it makes these hot spots that everyone gathers around. I get the migration zones were designed to fix that and get people moving around, but I find most ignore them and just hang around the same two spots on the map. Instead give us the option for the herd dinos, to spawn near a group (emphasis OPTION) . Otherwise throw us in a random spot. This would also allow us a better shot at surviving as quite a few will camp spawn zones for easy meals. Last is yeah, for a game with realism and all that, like the potatos 'sparing' system... you REALLY think people will care to use that? HAHAHA haha haaaaaaaaa.. eff no. They rather make sure they really remove you then sparing and letting you walk away alive. No matter what you pick, its just a free for all. Grouping? Herds? Packs? That don't exist unless you pick a unofficial realism server with strict rulesets. The only thing that was a good change was the added extra water spots that are not the main rivers so you at least have a chance at water without an ambush waiting, unless a croc wants to push their luck trying to waddle all the way out to these remote places. But then the likelihood of anyone coming by is a bit slim. But really, the devs should be working to discourage cani's, even for carnivores. Even in todays age you don't see many carnivores eating each other. It just makes it harder to effing group with others of your kind.
@@dinometta they also need to add a debuff for eating your own kind. Then it can be a 'last resort' option to carni if you actually need to out of starvation desperation. But then that can also be fixed if they just allowed more AI to spawn. I tried playing troodon and could never find any players that I could eat. It was only risking going in to yoink a bite from something already down or... a lot of starving as all I came across were the big guys, nothing on my 'diet'. If your a small or a baby it shouldn't be pure luck to make it. even to juvi as a carnivore. And going to others expecting them to parent you is a joke, your just an easy snack.

I'll say this, with sparring added, dibble is incredibly fun, but also incredibly deadly in the right hands.
What's the reason for these Players to just go on killing spree?
Because there's no carnivores to fight and smaller dibbles are too slow to flee. They make the excuse that it is population control, but honestly in most cases it is simply because they want to troll
the kos dibbles , mixpacking at the max and even worse the fast asf sub stegos with their charge attack running around killing adults after getting them to 0 stam ( a herd of sub stegs killed my grp last night ) 💀😭
Yeah, the horde test is a disaster. Hopefully most people will get out their obnoxious behaviors before it goes to live branch. And if they don't.... Well I'll be playing on petits anyway to avoid all that garbage behavior

I love all the dibbles killing one another for the free organs. I haven’t gone hungry since they released, though it does bug the fuck out of me seeing significantly grown players wiping out fresh spawns.

In Acro's perspective, he knocks that one down and hits it a few times. So when I showed up, that guy stayed in the trees

Yup! Unfortunately they take the same slots as the normal mutations so I'm not sure how I feel about that. Makes discovering the hidden ones harder as if your slots are full you just can't activate them

It makes zero sense for them to put mangoes and coconuts on diets of things that cant get them down from trees, literally just make it possible for them or put something else on their diet, like it makes absolutely zero sense

I've been running solo dibble cause i like to avoid huge groups, and the chance of meeting mix-packer but sadly i did meet a single group but they failed miserably to kill me only getting me to orange as a Dibble, Cera, and omni tries there dearest to kill me i laughed at there attempt (Dibbles sprint turn is a savior)

When you were afraid of the dilo that just killed you, and you picked the mutation to take 15% less damage from larger species, I don't think that's what that means. I'm pretty sure it means take less damage from larger species, not larger dinos. Raptors weigh 450kg, so if they took that, it would be for any species that weighs more than that. So, pretty much the entire roster. If a steg picked that, it would only work against deino. I know it weighed less in your video, but Dibble is the 3rd largest animal right now so that mutation would only work against stegs and deinos. I wish they would clarify these descriptions.
Yeah, the descriptions aren't exactly super clear on several of the mutations. And with it being in testing only right now, I can't exactly hop on an admin server to look more closely at values and such

Waay back in 2017 i built my first pc just to play this game. Been over a year now that i took a break from the isle. Every time i see new additions to the game my heart aches to get back on and try it , but then i see stuff like the game encouraging herbies to kill each other , my ptsd kicks in and i crawl back into my bed 😭
Let's hope that the devs listen to the feedback we've been giving about mutations. From what I've seen, very few people actually like the combat mutations

While a small community, The Isle community remains severely toxic. Diablos killing diablos, stegos killing anything that moves. massive mixpacking. I played diablo the first couple days it came out, got murdered only by other diablos. Every. Single. Time. So i decided to do something different. I have been playing as a troodon, I find a diablo thats friendly, and I become their battle buddy. Honestly its the most fun I have had in this game in a while... and the diablo calls??? So damn cute!
Also, the increased swim speed mutation has saved my life from cannibals more than once as a diablo. Its worth getting
I may have to look into that one! Dibble already swims pretty fast, so out speeding them is a good advantage
I wonder if I stumbled upon you once! The other day I was a baby dibble with three adults and another baby. There was a troodon that hung out with us from highlands to south plains before getting killed by a cera. He was a very nice fellow :(
All the canni behavior is why I won’t play the hordetest or official servers. I get canni here and there but it’s constant in the horde test.

I like the mutation system but giving intraspecific aggression to all species was a really bad idea

Evem if there were random spawns, there would be hotspots. The new hotspot would just be wherever the most migration overlap is. If equal distribution, then it'll be the center of the map and/or the easiest place to travel to from anywhere on the map.
Lazy changes like that are temporary solutions to a problem with deeper roots. Players want to interact with other players, and the majority of the game lies in player interaction. The game just isn't fun unless you're around other people. They had somewhat of a right idea with migrations-- instead of trying to fight hotspots, create places for it. The reason this is a somewhat function solution, however, is because it adds something to the game that isn't inherently dependent other players.
As long as the game lacks PvE gameplay there will be a drive for hotspots. Same for canni'ing, KOSing, mixpacking, etc. The Isle is just an open-world combat game that puts you on hour(s) long timer until your chosen class is max power.
Hotspots in and of themselves are fine. Migrations are intended to be a form of hotspot.
The difference though, is that with regional spawning, carnivore players simply choose the spawn that is available to all or most of them (eg. South) and then never leave. Why should they? They can simply eat the fresh spawns and each other forever.
Randomized spawning forces people to start moving. If they're headed to a hotspot, fine. But it's still movement around the map. People can find other players more naturally instead of "okay just spawn South and join the slaughter fest. No don't spawn anywhere else, you'll starve!!1!!"
That's the mentality that is driven, even though the rest of the map isn't barren and people can be found in most areas if you know anything about different playables and their player base's behaviors. The amount of arguments I've seen against leaving the hotspots simply because people believe they'll starve is honestly ridiculous.
Yes. We absolutely need more PvE things to do. Yes, the game needs more of a gameplay loop. But evrima's regional spawning is what I would consider to be a failed experiment.

God this sounded awful. Just another day in The Ilse but it'll never not shock me how the devs just seem allergic to good ideas and testing.
It was an experience. Between the sound bugs, lack of strafing, hackers, cannibals, etc I'm shocked it only took me three tries to reach adult

For me, the sound issues in Evirma are one of the biggest disappointments. The ambience doesn't work 90% of the time, the audio glitch that crashes your game still exists, and sometimes you cannot hear footsteps of bigger animals at all.

Man, these cannibal diablos are ruining the game.

You bring up the same issues I have with the game. Stop giving us set spawns as yeah, it makes these hot spots that everyone gathers around. I get the migration zones were designed to fix that and get people moving around, but I find most ignore them and just hang around the same two spots on the map. Instead give us the option for the herd dinos, to spawn near a group (emphasis OPTION) . Otherwise throw us in a random spot. This would also allow us a better shot at surviving as quite a few will camp spawn zones for easy meals.
Last is yeah, for a game with realism and all that, like the potatos 'sparing' system... you REALLY think people will care to use that? HAHAHA haha haaaaaaaaa.. eff no. They rather make sure they really remove you then sparing and letting you walk away alive. No matter what you pick, its just a free for all. Grouping? Herds? Packs? That don't exist unless you pick a unofficial realism server with strict rulesets.
The only thing that was a good change was the added extra water spots that are not the main rivers so you at least have a chance at water without an ambush waiting, unless a croc wants to push their luck trying to waddle all the way out to these remote places. But then the likelihood of anyone coming by is a bit slim.
But really, the devs should be working to discourage cani's, even for carnivores. Even in todays age you don't see many carnivores eating each other. It just makes it harder to effing group with others of your kind.
At least they listened and removed the interspecific aggression mutation! Now we just need them to listen about spawns
@@dinometta they also need to add a debuff for eating your own kind. Then it can be a 'last resort' option to carni if you actually need to out of starvation desperation. But then that can also be fixed if they just allowed more AI to spawn. I tried playing troodon and could never find any players that I could eat. It was only risking going in to yoink a bite from something already down or... a lot of starving as all I came across were the big guys, nothing on my 'diet'. If your a small or a baby it shouldn't be pure luck to make it. even to juvi as a carnivore. And going to others expecting them to parent you is a joke, your just an easy snack.
These devs... Deadset ego and no idea what the players want or what is actually fun
I think they do take some feedback nicely, but occasionally there's really not great additions
