Watercolor is probably the scariest medium for me because of its "chaotic" nature, but this video just encouraged me to go for it more often! Thank you Scott!!

Same for me. I've dabbled a little with watercolours before. I prefer Copic markers and pencils because I can control the blending, where with watercolours you have to let them be wild haha

      Need your help,
Also which is better than beginners who shifting from pencils to brush paint? Watercolor vs poster colour vs brush pens. Which will be better for realistic drawing also?
How much sketching skills required for painting? Do we need to outline with pencil 1st?
Because I've seen some artist directly draw or paint outline with brush, not with pencil and they trace their pencil outline. It's necessary to trace pencil outline why directly draw outline on watercolor paper? Should I stick with the pencil drawing 1st? Watercolor painting attracts me because realistic looks

@@shubham_M7777 I also have poster color and gouache but i used them like watercolor. For realistic you can both used them just practice first on small things like fruits and flower to paint and watch different techniques to used the watercolor. For out line its best using pencil then its also depends on artist whats work for them. For my last painting i sketch with pencil then i used brush to make lineart sometimes i used dip pen gnib. Then painting after that i used brush for final art. For realistic i think brush for line art so you can control how light your lineart. Other only pencil as line art just practice and experiment whats work on your style

What about those multicolor pens that we all had and tried to push down all the colors at once?

    • @febblepebble
      @febblepebble 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +9

I do this a lot! I have a set of pastel-coloured highlighters which I use for this. They behave similar to watercolours in terms of wet on wet and wet on dry, so you can kinda blend them if you want. I also will often use paper towel or a tissue or my fingers to dab at the wet spots where the stroke starts so you get less of that initial blob.
it's a surprisingly effective medium that is cheap and quick to use, I usually use it to spruce up my (ballpoint pen) sketches a bit

You are great, I love your shorter videos.
What I would like to see in a 8-10 mins video is "all you know" about portrait sketching. I see you are drawing an oval shape, draw a line in the middle, then two rounds for eyes. I would love to see and hear more of that easy-looking approach. Thank you so much for all you do and offer. You're a great teacher

I like the contrast between the background and the central focus. Because you used wet on dry, the colors didn't mix as much as the background which was wet on wet. Creates this almost out of focus look to the background that is very pleasing to the eye

I knew I wanted to try watercolor. So I got a set of 8 watercolors from Prang, one step above Crayola. And it came with a brush. And a mixed media sketch book probably 5 x 7 . Less than $20

I grew up with colored pencils and digital art and a little bit of Indian ink, but I saw a video of Bernadette Banner (?) where she did historical costumes with watercolor, and I wanted to try it out. I fell in love with the medium pretty hard and it's been a few years now. I had been given watercolor sets of different grades so I started with that; one of them was an imported set of Gansai Tambi, which become my favorite brand and I'm so happy they are more common in Europe now. I also have a pretty big assortment of Windsor & Newton and others now. I'm also doing a lot of wash, with a bottle of India ink I got from a Chinese shop in Paris ages ago and still serves me today! I supplement it with liners and some white gel pens for highlights usually, plus a white acrylic pen, color pencils... I really love the feel of it, being a fantasy writer, it has that traditional vibe.

    • @animae008

Personally I like to use two palettes for watercolors and gouache. One for clean "straight from tube" paints and second for mixing. While you mix your watercolors try to prepare just enough so you can use up this specific color. And do not clean your palette after you are done with the painting, save it. Maybe your next one would use some older colors

I have a question how long do you wait to add more colours without a heat dryer?
As you can probably tell I am still learning about watercolour paint! And I am ok with this all because, you have teached me that I can still be learning about it!
I feel like I am there with you when I go back to watch your videos when I paint!!!!!! 🎨 😊❤❤❤❤😊
