As a born Cuban I can tell that you outdid yourself. We always mix the beans with the rice. Ropa Vieja is one of my favorite recipes to make. That Caribbean flavor never disappoints.
I said a prayer for you and Cole when I saw you add 3 Serrano. Serrano are 10,000 to 23,000 Scoville scale. Jalapeño 2500 to 8000. Bless y'alls heart. Love watching your family. I will admit I do have a hard time watching now. I felt like I lost my own cat when Miss Gracie Lou passed. I grieved right along with y'all.
I was literally coming here to say the same thing! It’s a green bell then a poblano then a jalapeño and then the Serrano… lol, I was yelling at the screen when she said she used 3 bcuz they were more mild then a jalapeño!
I can understand if you did not do the Crocktober video, especially after all the hurricane issues. Prayers are still with all that suffered and are still suffering. We Love you Mandy. ❤
Garam Masala has cinnamon in it. It is delicious! I make roasted sweet potatoes and toss the peeled cubed sweet potatoes with olive oil, garlic powder, & garam masala then roast on a tray at 400° until tender. They are so yummy! All these recipes sound delectable. I can’t wait to try them!
Hi Mandy and Steven! I make homemade sauce too and for many years now I add a half a stick of butter to it rather than sugar. The butter actually replaces the sugar and mellows out the acidity of the tomatoes. I am not a fan of a sweeter sauce so the butter works like a charm in my opinion. Thank you for all of your amazing videos and the hysterical interaction between between you and Steven. 😁 God Bless
Yay! Butter Chicken!! Indian American subscriber here waiting for you to try Indian food 🙌🏽 Love your family and all the amazing recipes you share. The Ropa Viejo recipe looks amazing. God bless 🙏🏼❤️
Yay! I have wanted to send a recipe to you for a long time, but hesitated because I didn’t think you liked Indian flavors! So glad to see you guys try the butter chicken. My family’s favorite is chicken tikka masala which is very similar to butter chicken. Maybe I’ll send the other recipe I got from my mom that has curry in it. 😊
To answer your confusion about the minced garlic, the more damage done to the cells of the clove, the more garlic flavor, and aroma that is released into the dish. Cannot wait to try some of these recipes, as always, I love your family and your content. 💙
Wait 15 minutes after crushing to increase its health benefits. Heat will destroy some of its potency, so adding it last in the cooking process will make it more pronounced (in your face). I tried eating raw crushed garlic on its own before, and it burned my throat. Do not recommend, lol. Unless you cover it in honey.
Butter Chicken is one off my favorite dishes. When making it, I use the roasted tomatoes with green chilies, and just before serving squeeze some fresh lime on top. Game Changer!! I also leave the tomatoes and onion chunky.
I’ve been cooking butter chicken in my instant pot for about 4-5 yrs and love it. I do use coconut milk instead of the cream but I’m sure it’s good either way.
As a musician (played piano professionally for 20 years), let me congratulate you on the accompanying music for the Cuban Beef crockpot dinner. Superb!!
Two suggestions to up the spiciness of the butter chicken. Add some cayenne pepper, or make a very similar recipe, Chicken Tikki Masala. That recipe is a bit more spicy. You’ll have no problem finding a recipe for that, as it’s most likely the most popular Indian dish. I’ve even made it in the slow cooker, and it turned out great.
What wonderful recipes to try! Definitely going to make them. Steven's enthusiasm makes us smile so much! His descriptions have us wanting to make all three of them tonight, lol😂 Mandy, you are amazing! Thank you so much for this video. Love and blessings to y'all! Have a wonderful week!❤😊
Today I made the Butter Chicken. I live in the rural part of central US. The closest I could find Indian food would be 100 miles away so I have never had or attempted to make it. I've been hearing about Butter Chicken online though. Oh My Goodness!!!!! I had a bit of trouble finding the Garam Masala, but I did. I was a little hesitant on it all while preparing it, but is divine!!! I just found your channel by the way.
Tips from my Italian MIL on Marinara: Add a few parmesan rinds, freeze them after grating and just throw in when cooking your sauce. I may add about 1/2 cup grated pecorino romano but it is so pricey now or hard to find, so I have to leave it out. Add at least 1 or 2 bone in chicken thighs or drumsticks. Add in at least one or two Italian sausages. Fish all those things out when done, throw away the parm rind and make a meal of the chicken and sausage or just eat it right up when you fish it out! 😂 You can also cook your browned meatballs in there too, depending on how big your pot is. I don't if using crockpot because they take up too much room and I want more sauce for freezing. Always make in advance because it just gets better and better in the coming days.
My Italian friend likes to add a few pork chops to her red sauce. She makes large meatballs, beef and pork, but doesn't brown them. They're simmered in the sauce. Always a treat to be invited to Sunday dinner!
I absolutely adore and appreciate the way Mr. Steven assists you and compliments you, is always eager to support you and try new things! I hate that you had a headache. I suffer from severe migraines and it's the one thing that can render me useless and bedridden. Probably a good idea to go with the (less aromatic? Not quite as bold?) smells and flavor that day. Glad that worked out. I love INDIAN and CUBAN foods. We try at least one new country each month. It's a way to help my foster children experience the world and flavors. You took home the gold with this video!
Hi Mandy and Steven, I just tuned in after a very rough day! But I am 100% confident you guys will cheer me up! God bless you both! And many thanks tot all your hard work!
I love watching your videos. I made the corn bread the other day. I have eaten it mostly all week, but that's the best corn bread I have ever made. Thank you
I have been watching your videos for years and I just had to pop on here and say how much I appreciate that you leave drips of food on the plate. Keeping it real! I love it! Thanks for sharing. TTYL, my friends. ~~~~ Tina
Tomorrow’s butter chicken and my son has a pungent chili powder from an Indian spice trip that he did a while back, he loves curry and I’m so happy it’s a crockpot meal🎉
When I would make my own sauce, I always had butter in it. in addition to what you already have in the pot, I would have some chopped green peppers, and a Bay leaf or two. Yes, I always did add sugar to just like you. I always started my sauce with tomato puree and tomato paste, plus water. I too always added some crushed red pepper flakes . I love adding cooked ground beef to the sauce too and some black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Yes, that's in addition to the minced garlic and the chopped onion
I was making my grocery list when you popped up. The ingredients for all 3 are now on my list. I can't wait until Friday when I'm shopping. My son even said yes, please. Thank you for the recipes. Have a wonderful week. I wish that I knew that amount of spices in marsala. I have all of the spices that you mentioned
I am adding all of these to my menu next week, they all look delicious! There are so many great dishes out there to use Garam Masala, I’ll look at my recipes and send a couple of our favorites. We love Indian flavors and I buy Garam Masala a couple times a year. Blessing to you all ❤
Mandy, it is pronounced "Ga Rum". LOVE Indian food. So glad you ventured out and did something different for you! If you are not familiar with it go to a buffet to try many different things and see your favorites. So delicious!!! I too like spicy food and buy the hot curry powder vs the regular. Steven sure has lost a ton of weight I noticed today. He's so sweet to gush on every dish you make. Serrano peppers typically range between 10,000 to 25,000 Scoville units, while Jalapeños fall slightly lower in the range of 2,500 to 8,000 Scoville units. I prefer the Serranos! Well done Mandy!!!
Indian butter chicken is SUPER underrated with so many Americans still lol ITS AMAZING!!! even my picky kids, family and friends love it!! If anyone reads this thicken the sauce a little too and sprinkle with cilantro if you like not everyone likes that herb but I dooo!!!
👋 from Southwestern Ontario Canada 🇨🇦 We love Indian food & are lucky to have lots of Indian restaurants. For a little more authentic butter chicken, I would recommend thickening the sauce with a cornstarch slurry. Also, my Italian hubs says no to the twirling the pasta on a spoon 😂 I always add my cooked ground beef to the marinara sauce to let the flavours meld for about an hour ( like hubs nona did) Dont forget the shredded parmesean for on top.
Butter chicken, love it! Was always intimidated to make it home made, but you've inspired me!! Note to Mandy: add red pepper flakes next time for Hubby ❤️
I purchased a jar of pre-made Butter Chicken sauce recently and brought it home. I expected it to be spicer and was surprised with the slightly sweet, cinnamon, flavor. My husband tends to be picky and actually said he would like to have it again! I'm sure your homemade is way better. Your other recipes looked amazing too!! 😋❤️
I was craving that cuban shredded beef ever since I watched the video. Oh my gosh!!! I made it for dinner, and it was absolutely delicious. Everyone in the family loved it!!!
I am really looking forward to making these recipes this week. We have an Italian family in town that has had a small store for 60’ish years. They have always offered fresh homemade pasta for sale. I think I will do Mrs. Ritacco proud by using her pasta with that wonderful sauce. Thank you so much Mandy.
I have found heaven on earth because I was given a chance to have you as my friend. You are a true blessing. I can't wait to try these delicious recipes.
If you want to make the butter chicken spicy you can add casmere chilli powder or chilli's into the blender, it's also really good with coconut milk, also if you're into those flavors try chicken Tikka masala next! It's a bit spicier. When we order Indian takeout my kids get butter chicken and I order spicy lamb Tikka masala. When I make it at home I add cubed potatoes and carrots
I love Indian food! If you like chickpeas make it with chickpeas and add peppers! I make a cucumber raita and serve it with the chicken samosas from Trader Joe’s. So good! All of the recipes sound amazing!
Yay, you said ropa vieja perfectly! It’s a delicious dish. Funny enough, ropa vieja means “old clothes” though it doesn’t taste like that at all 😂! Have a blessed evening. Arlene
I’m so happy you have finally made an Indian dish. We love Indian food in our house. Here in the uk an Indian takeaway is very popular. You should try Chicken Tikka Masala, it’s a British national dish and absolutely delicious 😋
First off, Mandy I love your hutch. You do such a nice job with the seasonal displays, lovely. I always look forward to seeing it. Next Thrive Market has a Butter simmer sauce which is for simmering protein in, like chicken. I bought it but haven't tried it yet. I'll try your recipe too. I love Indian food. I used to make what I referred to as my base sauce. Just like your marinara sauce, sans the butter and vinegar. I'd freeze it up and then it was ready for me to use whatever protein, meatballs, sausage or even anchovies or tuna. Once you put a protein in the sauce, it's no longer marinara since that is a veggie only sauce. These recipes all sound so delicious and crockpot cooking is so satisfying.
Oh man, those recipes looks so D-E-L-I-C-I-O-U-S😋! I can't wait to try them! Thanks for sharing these recipes with us! Love you guys and love watching your videos! ❤
I live in Cajun country and we mix our beans and rice also. And we cook the beans until they are soft and creamy, usually red beans, or white beans or pinto beans, and add smoked sausage or andouille.
Hey Mandy! It's Rachel from Welwyn Garden City UK here sending you my love and warm wishes as ever. I'm glad to see you 'dipping your toe' as it were into Indian food and butter chicken is a good flavourful dish to start with. I don't know if you know but Indian food is huge in the UK, so much so that the English national dish is chicken tikka massala! (Google it, it's true!). Now that you have the basic spices you could try some of the more spicy dishes (Steven would love them!) Like a balti or a rogan josh, you wouldn't be sorry, give them a go! Love the channel ❤
I made your marinara to go with some pasta we brought home from our trip to Italy in October. I served it with some meatballs and it was amazing. I made chicken Parmesan the second night, and it was really good too. Thank you for the inspiration! I do so enjoy your channel! ❤
Ropa Veija is my favorite Cuban dish! If you ever get to Miami, eat it there! Then after you get up off the floor because it’s so good, dip some Cuban bread in the juices! 🤤
Hello Mandy and family. I'm from Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada. I just stumbled on your channel. I LOVE it. You cook and then have your husband taste test!!! Your such a sweet couple!!! I look forward to many more recipes!!! P.S. I am making the Ropa Viejo right now... my house smells amazing too!!!!
Garam masala has cinnamon in it. I was just in South Carolina as my son graduated from boot camp at Fort Jackson. I live in the Southern California desert. I fell in love with the Carolinas. You may have a new neighbor!
I’m a Pinterest kinda girl! I watch it every couple of days just to find different recipes. Butter Chicken is one that I’ve been wanting to try so I’m so glad Y’ALL did first! lol I was scared of some of those spices bc I’ve never had Indian food either. After hearing y’all describe those spices I’m no longer scared to try Butter Chicken so thank you!
Hi Mandy. I really enjoyed this video. I love Butter Chicken. I get it from a restaurant and I’ve also made it at home. It’s really delicious! Next time get some Naan bread to sop up that sauce.👍🏽 Thanks for sharing.🤗💕
I cannot wait to try the wonderful Cuban pot roast that translates into old clothes period my son-in-law turned me on to this years ago and I fell in love with it and now I get to make it and blow his mind! I can't wait! Thank-you ❤❤❤😂
Just found your channel and stumbled upon this video. All three recipes look absolutely delicious and I'll save them and try then soon. And with your husband tasting and explaining the flavor profile, so enthusiastically - just great to see A big 👍
I follow you from Scotland, where Indian takeaway and food is very popular and Butter Chicken is my husbands fav! Next time you make it, get some naan bread and brush some butter and miinced garlic (garlic naan) and put under broiler. Love your recipes, Thanks for taking the time to share.
That's exactly what I ordered from our cities Indian restaurant and it's funny how I knew/understand exactly how you both described it. It's way more subtle than I expected, and yummy at the same time. The others sound phenomenal. My mom used to make sauce by paste and low & slow all day. The house smelled amazing 😍. My aunt Nell would even call and ask mom "you're making sauce aren't you!?" She'd say "yeah why?" "Because I can smell it over here!" 🤣They lived blocks away 😂
Oh Mandy great recipes again, If I also had a man that praised my cooking the way Steven does then I would cook alot of recipes that you share plus others that I have cooked for years. You are such an adorable couple and I really enjoy watching your channel all the time. Have a blessed and beautiful day, sending love and hugs, bye! 🥰😍😊😋🙏🙏🙌💕💜💜💜💜💜
Wow Mandy !!! Think you hit the ball right out of the park with these crockpot dinners !!!! Your recipes certainly are an inspiration for me. I was getting sick of the "same 'ole chicken or burger" dinners. YUM !!!!
Love, love your channel! The recipes look great, too. Also am loving your new style. Keep up the good work! I always look forward to Tuesdays and Fridays. Sending love from Minnesota! ❤😊
Mmmm! Such interesting and different dinners. Can't wait to try the Butter Chicken and Ropa Vieja. I love spicy dishes like curry. Thank you for sharing these recipes❤️
Mandy, your husband is a man among men. When good men look to a man to be better, they look at him. Same with my daddy and my Bob. All great men. He makes my eyes well up with tears he is so sweet to you. He loves you SOOO MUCH! And I know you feel the same way about him. I don't have my men anymore they have left the earth. And yes I miss Gracie. Ugh. Thank you for the delicious dishes! OMG!!!!!!!!!!!
All look delicious and I love Indian cuisine. But all that spaghetti needs is some French bread to dip in some of that great sauce you made. Happy eating.
I married a 1/2 Cuban (1st generation born here). I’ve made Ropa Veija ( old clothes) & I think once an authentic recipe handed down to his mom. Cuban ropa usually doesn’t have jalapeños, but I’d like to try this recipe. We like spicy. Cuban is less spicy than Mexican food. I like both. I was so excited you tried Cuban. FYI: You pronounced it correctly.
All the dishes look delicious. Serrano peppers are notably hotter than Jalapeños, packing a more intense and fiery punch. On the Scoville scale, which measures the spiciness of peppers, Serrano peppers typically range between 10,000 to 25,000 Scoville units, while Jalapeños fall slightly lower in the range of 2,500 to 8,000 Scoville units. I love serrano peppers! 💕
Butter Chicken is one of my favorite dishes! You can kick up the spice a notch by adding cayenne powder, which is what my recipe calls for. I bring it to work functions and have introduced Indian food to others. It is fantastic! If you squeeze a little lime on top it is also really good. That Ropa Vieja looks sooo yummy! Definitely trying that one. Thinking it would be tasty in soft taco shells with some cheese and sour cream.
I’m tellin ya, if I had a man that praised my cooking the way your man does I would cook all day too!! You two are adorable together!! ❤
Amen!!!! So would I!!!
You are so kind. Yes, I love his enthusiasm for my cooking. It definitely makes it a lot more enjoyable!

Thank you! I'm having so much fun trying new things!

I saved this video for future cooking!!!! I will definitely make the butter chicken and the Ropa Vieja!!!!😮
We love butter chicken in our house. Everyone loves it when I add a can or sometimes two of chickpeas.

You are good people. Please do a dinner freezer meal series. Please
Oh my does that butter chicken look absolutely lovely! Yum!
Love watching u two in the kitchen
I love your fall display near the dinner table, its perfection ❤
I’ve had chronic migraines since I was 20 (now almost 41). It’s so difficult to function! Great job mama
You've convinced me to try the Cuban shredded beef and I'm going to the store today! Love your videos as usual!
Mandy, I just made the Butter Chicken. OMG! That is so DELISH. The flavor is amazing and it was so easy. Thank you for sharing.
Garam masala has cinnamon in it.
I was just in South Carolina as my son graduated from boot camp at Fort Jackson. I live in the Southern California desert. I fell in love with the Carolinas. You may have a new neighbor!
I LOVE butter chicken! Thank you so much for this simple recipe! Can't wait to try it!
Mandy, you are so awesome! Thank you for the recipes! God Bless you and your family.
Can't wait to try these!!!!! ❤❤
Hi Mandy. I really enjoyed this video. I love Butter Chicken. I get it from a restaurant and I’ve also made it at home. It’s really delicious! Next time get some Naan bread to sop up that sauce.👍🏽

I love y’all!!!! Love your videos ♥️🙏🏻♥️🙏🏻
I will definitely be making that Ropa Vieja! That looks so amazing & by y'alls reactions alone... how can you not want to try it?!
Everything looks so delicious and when you add Steven’s reaction, how can we not want to try making these dishes!
Omg I love Steven!! Thanks for allowing us into your day.
My hubby is gonna love these recipes! Thank you, Mandy ❤
Yay! I'm so glad! Hope y'all enjoy
Mandy I thoroughly enjoy your videos and the tree of you are so precious! I love your little family ❤definitely making that roast!
