Yeah rhey had rheir own unique sound/style but Motorhead was and will always be #1 to me as they have the most marerial i love then any other band. Actually saw Trouble and Motorhead with a local band The crusties in my home town in the 80's , a great show.
RIP Eric. Watching this again reminds me how powerful his vocals were. This band was a powerhouse and I’ve said before say again. Their 1990 album is one of the greatest if not greatest metal albums ever. The album just keeps coming at you no clunkers all killer. And I’m in full awareness the previous 3 albums were perfect as well !\m/!
Great upload! Fantastic musicians from waaaay back when the music mattered. They were larger than life back then and in their prime. Incredible talent and such a solid unit. Eric Wagner's vocals are legendary and really defined the band. I grew up on the west side of Aurora, IL and saw them at Malo's alot as well as other venues around the Chicagoland area...always a great show.
Me too. I'm still here. I remember Eric coming to my buddy's basement playing pool. He was kind of a big deal at the time. Mid-80's ish. Great Band...Psalm 9 is a killer record!!! Brings back memories.
I remember quite a few trips from Malos to their Labyrinth rehearsal space on the south side!! That was a great little bar, and Trouble were good friends for years!! Years later, my band ended up playing there with MadDag(formerly The Playge) and another band I can't remember the name of, but had a demo called "Disgruntled Postal Worker". We ended up at the same Labyrinth rehearsal hall on the south side, and partied with MadDog, Trouble, and had a blast!! Good times.
@@carlsimons6616 That is so cool. I wish we knew each other back then so we could go to shows. I used to frequent the Thirsty Whale in River Grove as well... legendary 👍
I came here because of a recommendation from YT and was so happy to see this video because im 54 and loved this band back in the day . now only to find out Eric just died .. Gonna have to burn a few and crank up some Trouble and shed a few tears .. RIP
I am sooo! Proud to be from Chicago knowing that this band is one of the heaviest around drawing there power from the LORD!!! Long live Trouble forever!!!!!!!!!
a lot of people misunderstand trouble. their christianity isnt a traditional one. its born out of the depths of hopelessness. It's all he has left in this world, i'm not christian but i think troubles lyrics are very human and altruistic.
They are well-known in the Doom scene. If you are new to the style and not familiar with them then I get it. But they're not underrated, let alone "extremely".
Great memories of the Chicago rehearsal spots and watching them practice and write songs. All of it great...yet Troubles self-titled 1990 release is one of the best all-time metal/doom masterpieces. Ricky & Bruce such an underrated guitar duo...with a distinct, unique sound. R.I.P. Barry Stern and Eric Wagner...such cool brothers. Ricky & Bruce are still shredding to this day. Hails and Cheers mates!! 🔥🤘🔥
Came across this by accident and I'm glad I did. Massive double bass drum kit, Marshall stacks.... all the elements of a true metal band. The gritty basics from the beginning. Awesome!!
I always considered Trouble as somewhat of a quasi-Christian group....and respect them for that......They were a big underground band til the end,so to speak, and I`ll always have a place for them in my collection............You are missed Eric........
I gave away Trouble Psalm 9 and Witchfinder General Death Penalty albums to my bro's.They were hooked for life..The best drug ever. REAL MUSIC..Kept the Mint one's..lol..
No better band for me..Was down with these homies from day #1..It was all Trouble and Witchfinder General in my youth..And i love them to this very day still..
Holy shit how have I been deprived of these guys for so long? I love everything about this video. I love their sincerity in the interview, I love the local news channel beat reporter doing her best to get them talking.... And I LOVE THE MUSIC!!
So many memories of driving around with my older brother listening to Trouble. Countless hours as a young 13 yr old metal head. Then turning my friends on to them partying at the woods. So many great memories. Miss those days.
Thanks a lot for placing this video here. This band is outstanding in many ways, didn't know them unil now (what a shame). Got a little bit of Sabbath but just enough to start their own style, guitars are doomy great and so is the excellent voice. I am impressed... but the interviewer is so cheesy conservative omg :D
Bruce Franklin is during the second interview talking about his favourite song 'The Skull': "A new song that isn't on our album". Since their debut album was released in March 1984 (and 'The Skull' was released in March 1985), this can't be a show recorded in 1982, but it's more likely somewhere from 1984. Nevertheless an awesome upload, so many thanx! And rest in peace, Eric.
This video was taken from the bonus dvd included in the 2006 CD reissue of Psalm 9 by Escapi Music, and there it says that is from 82, maybe it was a label info mistake, who knows, i just posted the video with the same info included in the CD. REST IN POWER ERIC WAGNER (1959-2022)
First, thank you very much for uplaoding this....from whatever vault you found it in, LOL. Thanks....seriously. This music was nice. Very fine to see the band doing its music in this early time and even though it was not the best scenario for the band....(interview, interviewer, etc.) it was overall, great. Good tunes. Brought back a lot of really good memories from a simpler, more pleasant day and time. \m/ \m/
Psalm 9 and The Skull are often cited as the cornerstones of doom metal as well influencing other bands of the uprising metal movement during the mid-1980s. A famous story states that James Hetfield and Kirk Hammett from Metallica entered Trouble's stage after a concert, trying to figure out how their amplifiers were set to produce their unique sound.
Discovered these guys two days ago. They are just brilliant. I love they are doom, but not black Sabbath - master of reality - doom. It refreshing to hear a doom metal band that isn't sounding like British doom bands , and at the same time is not trying to emulate Black Sabbath. Too bad Eric Wagner had to pass away, so that I could hear about him and his band on the radio.
HAHAHAHA😂😂!!! Yes my sister! Love it lol. Love Trouble! Hows it going out there? They went nuts the other day over by your neck of the woods huh? Haha. Hope you are ok out there! ❌❌❌❌❌❌
Lil Bro 👋 hahaha How ya been? Hows ya music coming along? I been just gravy 😂. Went nuts here? Don't let the media lie to ya bro hahaha. Nothin new😉 and yeah i guess i am out here, cause i sure as hell don't want in 😂😀🌀⚔💛
Great band! I have a been a fan since the beginning. Back when they were a badass Heavy Metal band, before they were called Doom Metal. I miss those old days sometimes. At least we still have the music. It really is timeless
Love watching these guys from back then, setting the bar of overall skill and style playing together; far higher than 99% of much more commercially successful bands between then and now could ever hope to attain.
I have loved this band forever, even when the world found out about them and love the couple of hits that’s all right, I’m in Jersey the other night I went to see iron maiden, of course excellent as always, I wore my trouble long shirt, pretty cool to get the old, head nod, like how we metalhead always do, nice shirt, nice shirt, talk about Metal, that’s what we are all about
All these guys are geniuses on there instruments. Including Eric (RIP) with those vocal pipes. Everything just so fucking right. It's great. I love it!
Other then dopethrone and holy mountain, when I think of the best doom metal albums, my mind automatically jumps to troubles first record, Pslam 9. The Song writing is so good and I love the more Christian influence on the lyrics, Eric’s voice is angelic, the drums and the bass just beat the brakes off your ears and add to the heaviness, and the guitars have the perfect tone. I love this band. Rip Eric🤘🏻🤘🏻
I forgot how good these guys were. Real tight sounding. A great band sounds awesome and tight live. And Trouble was all that. So underrated shoulda been alot bigger. There better than most bands who hot bigger than Trouble
Another criminally underrated band from the underground scene. These guys were so original in the 80's and still are.
In CCM they are appreciated, but maybe not by general doom fans.,
The hell they're not! Not respected in the metal scene? Maybe not YOUR little scene.
I've met Trouble for the first time in prison "91
"Criminally underrated" now that's something I've never heard (or read) before and as it pertains to this particular band-I agree.
wuh whabbout jutn bieb was in if he was in a mettleband?
Nobody sounded like this in 1982... NOBODY!

The fact that they were so underrated yet when they get in stage they rocked like they were on the bug screen.
I remember quite a few trips from Malos to their Labyrinth rehearsal space on the south side!! That was a great little bar, and Trouble were good friends for years!! I can't believe this is 1982.
TROUBLE. An incredible band, no doubt about it.

I only got to see them once! 1992 Nov, in Vancouver! Was a great show!
Songs from my #1 album of all time. Has been since it came out! So heavy it's ridiculous.
Wow. My first time hearing this. Extremely under rated band. Especially that early 80's guitar shredding.
Rest in Peace Eric Wagner
