- Tony Stark’s sacrifice in Endgame cemented him as one of the greatest heroes of all time, but what if Iron Man absolutely needed to perish in that final battle? What if, to preserve the sacred timeline and prevent a major multiversal war, Tony Stark needed to be the one that donned the makeshift Infinity Gauntlet and sacrificed himself. I know that’s sorta blasphemous to say, but in this video I will break down the dark future that would’ve occurred if Tony Stark survived the events of Endgame.
If we’re looking at Tony Stark’s history, he often makes bad decisions in the name of protecting Earth. He created Ultron, he took the wrong side in Civil War and was just generally paranoid about saving the planet. So what do you think Tony’s mindset would’ve been if he was in a situation where our Earth was threatened by a multiverse incursion? Do you think he would think about the safety of another planet or would choose to focus more attention on our Earth and not care as much about destroying an alternate reality? Yeah that totally sounds like Tony. I mean, there’s a few versions of evil Tony’s in the comics and I’m afraid our Tony would’ve wound up like that if he didn’t perish in Endgame.
So join me today as I break down why Tony needed to be the one to sacrifice himself in Endgame. I’ll be breaking down all the dark directions Tony’s character could’ve gone afterwards, and I’ll even discuss how the universe could now course correct itself and give us Doctor Doom as a new version of Tony Stark to be the ultimate bad of Secret Wars. I think the reason there was only one reality where they win is because Tony was typically “selfish” and probably doesnt sacrifice himself in every reality, so in order for that to be the one they win he had to put his own self interest to the side
Tony would be more than willing to sacrifice himself in almost all outcomes, he has bribed this by the amount of times he has sacrificed himself thinking of the future of the world

Thanos army didn’t threaten our universe, they wiped it out. So Tony reversing it just to Thanos and his army isn’t really bad.
He's just trying to give some bullshit reason to back up the content.
If our Tony survived he would've filled out his character progression and been just as much a good guy as Steve Rogers. It showed in Endgame that he finally would put his life on the line to save the world and that ultimately prevented him from becoming superior iron man etc. He wouldn't have been any less than the perfect hero like Thor and Cap after Endgame... they fucked it up in the movie by killing Tony off.
Leave out the characters like Namor and Doom and Kang... we don't need them. They're dull and boring
The real reason Tony had to die is because RDJ wanted to finish acting in the Marvel Universe. If RDJ wanted to continue, you can guarantee he wouldn’t of died.
Kang really coordinated the one out 14,000,605 possibility for Ant-Man’s moment to get stuck in the van and to further accomplish Tony’s research on time travel, in which leads to a version of Kang to succeed at a point for the Kang Dynasty set-up. Tony dying is just a result of Kang’s narrative within the final moments of the sacred timeline.

No tony would not become ok with killing ppl coz he always learns from his mistakes. The guilt would get him and he would go down a path of redemption involving internal conflict out of which he would resolve himself and be the good tony again. Because no matter low much his comforts change his characteristics won’t. He will still learn from his mistakes, he will still innovate and he will still be the iron man in our hearts.
A lot of great points I’m this video that I didn’t think about. I have to say that thr word “evil” is used too lowly today especially in politics; Tony in 616 universe is not evil but makes big mistakes and will do what is necessary to wipe out an enemy for the greater good and for his home universe if necessary, but that is not “evil”.
You also mentioned that Tony died saved the multiverse? What happens in 616 stays in 616, at least up u til endgame; meaning the events of end game do not affect the multiverse directly. It is possible that Tony would have had an impact later on, but there are other Tony starks in the multiverse like the ones mentioned in this video that DO exist and can be a threat to the multiverse, but the question is will they be brought into the MCU. It is a lot for marvel to try and tackle, so I, not sure about that; just want to point out that they probably do exist even if they are never mentioned.
Strange saw that every timeline would get pruned off anyways so he had to less tony stark to did coz others would violate the sacred timeline. He used the time stone to look to the end of the timeline and see all the branching realities get pruned off until he sees he who remains citadel and how time will be forever circular rather than linear.

5:42 I strongly disagree with this statement. Thanos and his army were literally space nazis. His army was made of monsters that didn't even value there own lives. The mindlessly killed for the goal to slaughter half the universe and fought harder to erase everything, including themselves. Anyone would've done anything to stop them. Tony use to make weapons of mass destruction for war profiteering. In endgame, he used to to save the entire universe from a threat that didn't even care if they died in the long run.

Tony was already in the illuminati as shown in I.M. 2. And in theory only Strange made it possible for Tony to survive and no one knows it of course till Secret Wars. Doom wouldn't attack if Tony was alive. Just a theory. Sort of what happened to Parker.

Although I love how you explained it, and this might be a very viable progression of the next MCU movies, this is the exact definition of how big name movie series ruin their stories. People don't want to see their heroes turned enemies, and the universe permanently changed, but that's what happens and then the future movies become lame. It's the problem with movie sequels that always happens to every series. New characters don't mean better, they mean replacement of our heroes.

Nahh I disagree. I don't know about comic but Tony Stark that I know in MCU will never be a bad guy. He's ready to sacrifice when it's necessary. He's a hero and he always will be. Even though he's selfish, in the end he always does what is best for other people. He's not a hero type like Captain America. He does what he thinks is right and he thinks he's always right😑. But he always learn from his mistakes and tries to be better. I'm pretty sure MCU will be better if Robert Downey Jr was still playing Tony Stark Role. He's a legend.

i want to know why is it so imperative, so unpreventable for there to be a multiverse war? Why exactly do they have to fight to save one over the other? Why couldn't they just spin off and become a different place with different results? a new wheel if you will? all wheels but this one is unique . Or am i missing something in the whole thing.
