Love that the highlights end with about 9:30 left on the clock in the fourth quarter. Pretty sure mercy rule was put in to effect and they played with a running clock the rest of the way!
Agreed, but I think this was the most disciplined of those teams. Solid tacklers on D and a steam roller offensive line. Heupel was as good a college QB as you can have. Certainly not pro material, but was smart enough to manage the college game to perfection. The last few years we seemed to have lost discipline on D. Bradford should have won a title. He was the best pure QB we've ever had but the D let him down. I am longing for the days of the dominant OU defense.
The crazy thing is, of the four OU teams that went to the national title game between 2000 - 2008, this was probably the weakest of the four (not that it was weak; just not as good as the other 3) and yet this is the team that won the national championship. Go figure.
I was 8 years old and in attendance. It was a chilly and rainy day. 49 degrees I think. I have to say as a Texas fan that this was truly Stoops' best team. We just weren't good enough to beat OU that year.
Yeah no argument here. But the 2003 defense and a Heisman performance from Jason White at QB....that was the year that all logic says we should have won if we were ever going to. Who knows...
Yeah, I know, you guys could have beat us how bad you wanted to. I wish they would finish the investigation so that your title would be stripped, but they never will because it is USC.
@bitmopro and 1 more thing if you dont look at the turnovers first downs yards or the scoreboard what the hell are you gonna look at the grass because when i looked at the players all i saw was OU players dominating texas players and quinton griffin in the endzone the whole game was a blow out from the start dude
Yea, sometimes though, you just need luck. But looking back at this team, they were better in that non of them cared about the NFL, playing time, or ego's. They all just wanted to win with pride. I think that's why Stoops has gotten alot harsher on his players and cleaned house last season. You can't have kids playing that only care about themselves, no matter how good they are, they'll never get to the finish line.
"If they still use VCRs in the year 2050" 😂
Dude had the foresight to know vcr’s were on their way out lol
My daughters went to high school with Rocky Calmus. I watched him throughout his high school career at Jenks. Great player and a great guy.
I just wanna win another national championship. :(
I’m the 8th like for the 8th ship we’re looking for
"Well, Texas has been a great forth quarter team."
Bevo " Wild Turkey 101 please, and leave the bottle."

Heuple should have won the Heisman that year
If they still use vcr's in 2050 lmao

Damn, just think of the type of player Michael Thompson would have turned out to be if he hadn't had his accident.
Causing turnovers
The Sooners fell short of UCLA's 66-3 victory over Texas in 1997, a game played AT TEXAS.
What a wonderfully entertaining video. Could watch this on a continuous loop

Roger Coley 😂
Nobody wasn't 14 0 homie.
Mike Stoops did have an ominous defense.

One of many Mack Brown embarrassments. It was these games that tarnish his legacy. No excuse for losses like that. On the coaches.
6 conference championships in a roll and Texas only has 2 in 24 years HAHAHAHAHAHAH
Why the hell did we still have our starters in!!!
I love how they say “if they still use vcr in 2050”
I love J T Thatcher! I have his autograph on a sky picture of Owen Field.
" Well Dan, Texas... has been a great 4th quarter team this year " Dan: " Hah"
LoL at the 2:29 part when they were talking about FSU. Ironic.
Oklahoma scored more points than Texas.
Lock Shock and Barrel By just a little
"They don't call him the best color man in the business for nothing."
17 turnover is 5 games..wow

OU--the greatest EVER.
great video. I was there!
lol it's 2011, and VCRs are already gone!
I still use my VCR :)
@bitmopro ya i know what ya mean dude 63-14 cant get much closer than that.
and 42-7 at the half was a nail bitter down to the finish
Chris Simms....LOL!!!
Does anyone know where you can get this full season?
yes lasooner has them
haha, if they still use vcrs in 2050. Heck, they didnt use VCRs in 2005. You cant blame him though.
Tommy Bailey 😄

Whoa...........
Chris Simms was freaking TERRIBLE!
Yes.
Griffin wanted his 6th touchdown. If you don't like ou, then why are you watching this video? Stop being jealous.
Both of Texas’ touchdowns came off very questionable pass interference calls too. Coulda been a shut out.
Good grief, with, TX does the very exact same - hello!!
They did beat Connecticut it the Fiesta Bowl. Yeah, Connecticut. LOL
Great times. Let's see if riley can bring us #8.
He can’t.

We suck now!
OUs never been as good since this year. I blame 55-19
Garbage time -- the whole second half.
and old Bob Stoops hasen"t done shit since 2000 except lose every major BCS bowl he coached in ....Pahahahahaha!
About a dozen 10+ win seasons, 7-8 Big XII Championships, half a dozen or so home losses, etc.
tauras88d He's won every BCS bowl games fuck you mean only coach to do that
