Good video. My husband and I purchased the same bed. We just returned the mattress today. It doesn’t work for us. He slept better on our old mattress as did I. Purchased another Bedinabox mattress and happy. We also had to keep the base which we can still use the moving features. Thankfully we got no arguments from SN with the return. Maybe it will work for you as you’ve had one before. Good luck!!
I just purchased a King size I8 with just the regular base the mattress sits on. I was lucky they gave me 20% off everything being I'm a veteran, also they were running a special with no delivery / setup charge. When all was said and done, I saved over 1k but still paid over 4k lol. I'm getting it delivered in a few weeks hope it's worth it.
I have an Avocado mattress, I love it!! Unfortunately, I was unable to go to a showroom out here in SF. I had been researching for some times.. Let me tell you, it was worth every bit of $1800… And I also bought cube pillows. My neck and back truly have thanked me for it!!!
I’m a wound care specialist and in the hospital we put in orders for patients at high risk for pressure ulcers to have certain mattresses. The best ones are air mattresses. Alternating pressure or low air loss similar to the sleep number where it consistently keeps a certain firmness. The basic mattresses that patients receive when they are at minimal risk for pressure injuries are foam mattress. The point of this story is to clarify the comments and video downplaying that it’s “just” a “glorified” air mattress. This same technology is used for some of the best mattresses you get at the hospital. So I wouldn’t be so quick to knock air mattresses. Everyone is probably thinking camping when you think air mattress. It usually goes spring/foam/air as worst to best in the medical field. There’s sand like (clinitron) too but we won’t get into that lol.
I didn't say air mattresses are bad, but you can get a decent air mattress for couple 100 dollars and throw a foam topper on it and you have basically the same thing.
@@TheRealDavil not really, the low air loss technology is not there. A regular air mattress will lose or gain firmness with temperature fluctuations and with different weight on it. It would be nothing like an air mattress with a foam topper
Good review and I Enjoy the humor. My wife and I purchased this bed a week ago(Split King I8 at $8800 final end of the day price)full package including the $200 delivery,$600 sales tax and cotton sheets will run$95 per side and the mattress pad $195. Wife loves it for the most part. No more back and leg pain for her. She doesn’t feel me toss and turn and when I snore there is a button for that, it gradually raises my head a few inches and shuts me off without waking me. The bed is also very quiet. I am able to adjust it all night long without waking her. I on the other hand cannot get the right feel number of softness or firm of our previous bed which I loved. Feels too much like a air mattress that we take camping for me, with the exception of reclining of course. And with the split I feel as I haven’t much wiggle room on my side without feeling I’m going to roll off the bed. I like to sprawl and cannot with this (I’m 5’8” 150lbs).The sleep IQ app is cool, not sure how accurate though. Says I’m getting a good rest but I disagree. There is a 30 day free trial but beware, the base is non refundable and cost around 5 grand. It’s not a bad bed but it has more negatives for me thus far and my wife is 80% on likability. We won’t be returning it. I just hope I’ll adapt.
Yep I agree with most of what you're saying. I slept on an air matress with a foam topper on it for the longest time that was basically the same thing. The only thing I really like about it is the base because it does feel pretty comfortable in the 0g position for me. I'm surprised you don't have much room though, we're about the same height and I feel like I have plenty of room. Things we do for our wives right?
thanks for the review! besides it being informative, i was highly entertained by your review. I have an appointment today at the showroom, and now I have a better idea and understanding of the bed. thanks again i hope you are enjoying your bed.
im 27 with a bad back looking for a new bed. my nectar mattress is like sleeping on granite. leaning towards the sleep number 360. being able to change how firm or soft seems perfect for me
One thing that justifies the price a bit is the warranty. 15 year warranty and they are completely modular so if something breaks after the warranty, the individual part can be replaced
You do realize it's a PRORATED warranty. It's not 15 year warranty it's a 15 year limited warranty where the first year is free and then 20% the 2nd year the 5% each year after that. You have to pay for parts and labor after 2 years. That is not a great warranty if you ask me.
@@TheRealDavil No sarcasm directed toward you. You were honest in your review. The other reviews were super positive about Sleep Number but then I read in the description that they received their mattress for free for their "honest" review. Right.

Hey, so I have a purple mattress. And I want to buy the sleep number i8. What would you prefer ? Whatever I buy will most likely be the last I buy . Help
Purple was way too hard for me, sleep number is nice because it adjusts. It also had some other features like sleep tracking which are nice. The people mattress weighs a ton too whereas sleep number comes apart pretty easy.
@@TheRealDavil what purple did you try? I have the purple hybrid 3 it’s very heavy which I don’t like but it’s very responsive and it sleeps cool. I just tried the sleep number i8 and it was really good as well.
Hey Davil, now that you have had your sleep number for a while, how is it holding up? A couple of my concerns is the gap in between the mattresses. How big of a gap is it. If I am cuddling with my wife, will we be having a big gap after a while? I currently have a Leggit and Platt adjustable platform and a hybrid mattress. Over time, the gap is about 2 1/2 to 3 inches. Very noticeable and uncomfortable to lay next to her without rolling into the gap. I guess one thing that I saw in your video is the edges have foam. I am concerned that within a year or so, the edges/sides will start on the outside where I would be crawling into bed or putting on my shoes in the morning, or it will start wearing out where the gap is making the gap more noticeable and me falling into the gap as my current mattresses are doing. If you and/or anyone else can share their experiences with this, it would be helpful in me making my decision whether to just get a tempur-pedic mattress for my current Leggit and Plat platform, or spend the money to get a sleep number. Is it worth the almost $9k? Another reason I am considering a sleep number platform and mattress, is because my Leggit and Platt mattress moves backwards away from the footboard when I activate the different positions which pulls the king size bed spread I have on it from my wife's legs, and really makes a mess of the bed in the morning for making the bed. Any comments would be appreciated.
The gap is not really noticeable laying on it. But when the fitted sheets loosen up it is visible. I haven't noticed the edges getting soft either, it does feel and look pretty much the same as when I bought it. As far as being worth it that really depends on you. I'm happy with a $200 foam mattress from Amazon so I don't really think it's necessary, but my wife really likes it and that's why I got it. It doesn't have any issues with the mattress moving, it's attached by strong magnets to the base so it stays put very well.
Honest review i think they flat out arent worth i just left their mattress store...😅 $4500 for the i8 and it feels good but also feels like a air mattress....dont think thats 4500 hard earned big 1s
Hubby and I enjoyed your video review. We are considering a Sleep Number. What is your opinion of the mattress now after sleeping on it awhile? Thanks!!
My wife who always complained of back pain says she has no issues anymore. The movable base has come in handy many times to get my wife to stop snoring because I can just elevate her head a bit and it stops her snoring, same for me if I'm being fair. The mattress by itself is nice, but when you get down to it, it's a foam topper over some air bags. You can buy basically the same thing for cheaper, but it is nice.
@@TheRealDavil Ya'll keep saying this, but what's the alternative? Foam? Innerspring? Idk, the fact it relies on air doesn't mean anything. "An innerspring is a glorified cot, A memory foam is a glorified bean bag".
I'm on the fence. How has it held up over time? Being that it's just an air bag underneath does it feel like it will last ten years or more? What about when things get a little uh...active with the wife? Can is survive more than a year or two is my biggest concern.
I had one that lasted over 10 years so durability isn't much of an issue. I actually moved several times and it was kind of nice being able to pack the whole mattress in a box
I’m thinking of getting the flexfit 2 base used. I see on the sleep number website the foot area of the base stands/lays level. Some of the bases I see used show the foot area pointing down ward, which is normal?
Do you still like the mattress? Does it sleep hot or cool or neutral? How often do you use the adjustable base features? What do you like least about the sleep number besides the price?
It's still pretty decent, I'm in Florida so it's basically always hot. I adjust it occasionally but really once it's in a good spot I don't mess with it for a long time. There isn't much I don't like about it.
@@TheRealDavil do you use the adjustable bed features like for reading or watching tv? How loud are the air pumps? Have you had any dealings with customer service?
There is a Thanksgiving special today for 50% off the 360 ILE Split King I’m looking at and if we get it today, they waive the installation charge.
