    Giovanni Riccioli in Almagestum Novum first came up with the 30 degree maximum for pendulums. If you swing further than that it measurably affects the timing. If you go further the string loses tension at the top of the arc. Like swinging high in the playground you can feel yourself fall briefly until the rope comes back to full tension.
    You can overcome that with a rigid arm but then you need to account for the weight of that arm since the pendulum length is measured from the centre of gravity.

      Period of a pendulum depends upon two things: gravity and length; the amount of swing is irrelevant. It doesn't matter if it's 180° or 3°. Of course air resistance and friction apply, as always, and will be what is responsible when, not if, you measure a deviation using practical experiments.

    • @SacredGeometryDecoded
      @SacredGeometryDecoded 2 ปีที่แล้ว +60

      @@tonyfremont there is a huge difference in the string between 3 and 180 degrees. You can see the difference just by swinging a pendulum between shallow angles (where the string appears to be rigid) and broader angles where you can see the string bow.
      I mentioned Riccioli because of his experiments

      The period of oscillation is independent of the mass of the oscillating body. For small oscillations, the period is also nearly independent of the amplitude. Here, the pendulum exhibits an almost harmonic oscillation, the period of which is determined solely by the length of the pendulum and the prevailing acceleration due to gravity. The period extends infinitely as the amplitude approaches 180°. If the kinetic energy is just enough to reach the point of unstable equilibrium at the top without friction effects, an infinitely long time passes until the pendulum comes to rest. If the kinetic energy is greater, the pendulum body moves periodically in a circle. So it would be 1 sec. for 17°, 33 or 76° as well. This explanation is BS.

      No such thing as coincidence. This reality is a design with rules. That much can be observed easily. If something happens, it's within the rules even if it seems odd.
      You don't have intimate knowledge of this place we exist and neither does anyone else so who are any of us to write it off as random or ironic.

    The king of confirmation bias

      @zakpodo 2 ปีที่แล้ว +922

      Seriously.. Nothing he said in way rebuts the comment he was disputing.
      Ironically, rather than discussing harmonic motion and pendulum mechanics, you prove the comments point by instead focusing on the relevance of 12 and 30° in other situations.
      (The commenter is actually largely correct)

    • @billmcavoy5056
      @billmcavoy5056 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@zakpodo : ‘Nothing he says rebuts his comments’ … that is a key feature of confirmation bias.
      The uploader of this video got seriously lost up his own anus. Now if he produced a falsifiable event, or demonstrated how his conjecture ONLY worked in base 10 and ONLY with 30 degrees, then the presented hypothesis could indeed be presented as a working model.
      Then it could be investigated where it falls short and how to improve the predictions the model could make.
      He has done NONE of this. NONE.
      What he has done is taking data and observations to suit his conclusion. He should be basing a conclusion on his data.
      This makes his presentation an interesting opinion at most, at worst it can be construed as an attempt to deceive.
      Quite honestly, take any base system (not just 10) and you will see the same patterns emerging, because if a universe is made from lego blocks, then every measurement is scaled up from the basic lego block.
      Using base 8, you would find the number 36 repeating itself in such a manner.
      As for his lines drawn on a globe model of the Earth showing significant historical events and sites, well … go ahead and squiggle several lines around the same globe model and I will absolutely guarantee that the lines will intersect with sites and events of historical significance because … and this is important … our planet is FULL of historical events and sites.
      If you present a model (and this upload was not EVEN a predictive model, just a confirmation one) that other models can also espouse, then NONE of the models can or should be acceptable as a working hypothesis. Only the model that makes unique predictions that can be confirmed with tangible measurements and / or observations, can be acceptable as the working model.
      This upload is so far away from any reasonable scientific methodology, that it is laughable and should be dismissed as anything anywhere near serious.
      The only scientific application of this upload, is to conjecture where on the Dunning Kruger scale the uploader should be.
      The uploader could do with reading even a synopsis or critical read on the body of work of Karl Popper. I doubt he could handle a whole book, but he should be able to grasp a basic understanding of the regime of scientific method and the concept of a falsifiable event.
      Personally, I’m going to block his channel, because such rampant stupidity really annoys me.
      See you around elsewhere maybe, just don’t take what this upload professes to as a unique or true claim … because it is not.

      Who are you gonna believe? All of recorded history's obsession with sacred geometry or the postmodern movement's scientific disinformation that's only existed for about 60 years.
      Also important to note, knowledge is power and in the current "information age" the powers that be have tried and largely succeeded in undermining all of history's knowledge with post modern chaos theory tripe.
      The age of enlightenment was just the opposite of what it claims to be. It was a time of vast knowledge going dark because for the first time education was happening on mass. The powers that be weren't about to lose there position to the newly educated masses. They succeeded and the result is you claiming pareidolia when presented with weighty coincidence.

      Physicists are numerologists do you have a problem with them? They sit around and using an arcane language make prophetic predictions, say like the Higgs Boson, which they can never see or feel but by pushing protons around a circle with invisible fields and smashing them into each other they tear them apart but another apparatus built with much greater precision than this guys image and formula talks about and for what? How do they know the ritual has worked? Because the original prediction/prophecy said to look for a certain number.

    • @zhubwat
      @zhubwat ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@EdTube444 This is an extremely ballsy comment, which I actually kinda admire. If you're actually interested in this stuff, there are legitimate physics questions regarding this.
      You're absolutely right that it's strange that numbers like the gravitational constant is one particular number, for example - these factors have to be exactly the number they are in order for the universe to function. This leads some to believe that our universe could realistically be a computer simulation, in which someone outside programmed those numbers.
      There's a difference between this, and what numerology is, however. Physics numbers are based on the reality of the universe, and things that happen inside the universe. Numerology is based on numbers that HUMANS make up. For example, even if humans made a bunch of things related to the number 30 (like the landmarks in the video), it would be just as easy to destroy one (or all) of those landmarks, revealing the number 30 as not something protected by the universe.
      It's a little harder to change the gravitational constant. Where that constant comes from, fundamentally, is a legitimate question, but numerology doesn't help us solve that question!

    • @EdTube444
      @EdTube444 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@zhubwat
      "Ballsy"? I'm not to worried about Brian Cox or Brian Green coming and hurting me for suggesting physics has aspects in common with numerology. What separates physics from numerology is whether or not you believe you are predicting the primal nature of the universe or the nature of divinity. For guys like Newton and Kepler they were one and the same.
      There are other flavors of numerology like giving letters values and using that to try and predict something but that's an added distinction.
      I dont think this video is about numerology. Maybe if some folks looked deeper or just weren't ignorant they would see that or atleast be curious about it. This seems to be more about ancient cultures who built their megalithic structures based on a line 30° to the equator not trying to predict something with numerology.
      Did anyone look up those sites and see if they more or less follow that pattern before opening their holes? I doubt it. So maybe the guy is crazy but they are just mouthy idiots.
      But here is some pure numerology you might find interesting. I invented this system about 30 years ago and put it online almost immediately after the internet became a common thing for the mouth breathers. I've seen it copied since. But that's neither here nor there.
      Here it is. Bear with me.
      So you take the ENGLISH alphabet and assign values based on the perfect number 6. A = 6, B = 12, C = 18, etc. It's a linear progression even the smooth brains in here can understand. Not you. You seem astute.
      So take these words. JESUS, JOSHUA, JEWISH, MESSIAH, CROSS, GOSPEL, CUBITS, LUCIFER and do the math. ***spoiler alert**** they all equal 444. Coincidence? Sure. But look at what they represent. Jesus is the English translation of a Greek and latinized name which comes from the Hebrew word Joshua which is Jesus's real name except it was Yehoshua or Yeshua and prior to that squiggly Hebrew. Point being all these words have different origins but when translated to ENGLISH which is itself a 444 word they all become 444 words. Odd? Sure. But there's more. The Jewish or Hebrew numerology is GEMATRIA a 444 word but it has non linear values for its letters. Like one letter can be worth 40 and another 5. There's a whole other set of "mysteries" about that. But in GEMATRIA the name Jesus is 888. Which is weird given the two systems are totally different.
      But it doesn't stop there. I worked on this off an on over the years as a programmer. I write pattern searching software for my own amusement like downloading the entire Human Genome files looking for patterns in the a,c,g, and t(s). It's good mental exercise.
      Anyway so its based on the perfect number 6. And what is the 6 sided polygon? The HEXAGON. (For all the slow people everytime I do all caps its an important word. Most likely 444)
      And what is the feature at the top of the 6th planet we found recently? Yup. A HEXAGON. Look it up. And what is the backbone of life? The ELEMENT that organic chemistry is based on? The 6th element.
      So really is this more about the perfect number 6 than finding 444 in a cluster around a biblical myth? I can't say. It's just weird.
      Like for instance one day I asked myself is there a sweet spot in the alphabet where 4 letters in a row equal 444. And there is. QRST. So I googled it. It is the Egyptian word for Christ. Saaaaaay whuuuuut?
      Blew me away. Freaked me the f*ck out. Totally never heard of that before.
      How about this? CUBITS. Roman cubit is 444mm. The Roman Numerals for 444 are CDXLIV. Do the math. Its easier to just count letter positions and multiply by 6. So 3, 4, 24, 12, 9, 22 = 74. 74 x 6 = 444. Also if you notice the Roman Numerals for 666 are the same letters. DCLXVI.
      What about elsewhere? What is the constant for circles? Pi. 3.141 and the constant for squares sqr (2) or 1.414. Pi x Sqr(2) = 4.44....
      But Ed you say I am not convinced. Well how about the 12th prime being 37. Well that's 12 x 37 = 444.
      And there are others. Obviously the sample that is not 444 is a lot bigger. And finding 6 in lots of places is actually too easy.
      But here may be the weirdest thing. Who replaced Jesus as the focus of Christmas? Well SANTA CLAUS of course. Kind of an "anti-Christ". LOL do the math for SANTA CLAUS yourself. It's a hoot.
      And before all the dimwits who fire back with blah blah blah. I dont believe any of this means anything. I am just pointing out what the guy in the video was doing was not numerology. What you just read is numerology as you've been taught.
      Incidentally the Sun and hence solar system is tilted 60° degrees to the ecliptic of the galactic disk. 90° - 60° = 30°. Maybe that was on the minds of the ancient builders who could actually see the Milky Way across the sky.

      Exactly, and this is also an example of what happens when someone doesn’t have a good education in math, so they are easily blown away by how so many things are related mathematically. I can could go on for hours about these types of nutters who will make random connections simply bc whatever it is share a common number between one another and then surmise it must be some profound hidden secret instead of realizing that math is math and when you have two numbers that are the same it’s just that…. Another great example of thinking like this are the people who freak out when they learn about the digital sums/roots and how it’s related to the 3,6,9, (it’s a whole thing that some of these crack pots are into bc of Tesla….) I’m forgetting exactly how, I think it is something like you always end up with 9 as the digital root when doing applying it to the products of the base 10 times table (when you do the times table of 1-9, take the products and apply the digital root you end up with 9 as the answer to all of them….. but anyway there is a very simple explanation for why that ends up happening instead of what these ppl concoct to be the reason of why you end up with the results, simply it has to do with modularity but none of these ppl have a clue about what that even is and why and how that is. I wish that these people would take their curiosity and all their energy they devote to studying stupid things and drawing ludicrous conclusions from it and instead put that energy into actually studying whatever subject that they may be slightly interacting with, so in this instance he should be actually studying mathematics instead of wasting time doing nonsense exercises that are self evident at the end of it all and not profound in and meaningful way. It’a like being blown away that a circle has 360 degrees in it or the sum of a triangles angles are 180, these are just geometrica facts that are inevitable from the constructions of these’s objects ie they are an inevitability…. Anyways cheers!

      But the length of the pendulum swinging 30 degrees is determined specifically by the fact that the 30 degrees is calculated from the center of a circle. The center of said circle is where the pendulum is mounted and the length is the radius of that circle.
      Therefore, the length IS taken into account.

      @@grantmcdougall7801 you’ve mixed up a bit of information between the Julian calendar and the Gregorian calendar but you’re somewhat correct. The Julian was introduced in 45BC and the calendar added January and February making it a 12 month system. Another thing it did was introduced leap years because the lunar cycle of the Roman calendar no longer matched with the phases of the moon. There was still a problem though and that is the fact that a year isn’t actually 365.25 days but around 365.2425 days. While a seemingly insignificant difference it would make it so there’s a missing day every 128 years and by the time 1528 came around the vernal equinox was ten days behind. And the Gregorian calendar was made to be more precise by introducing century leap years if you divide the 400 years by 3 you get 133.3 which is very close to 128 years for the extra day. So every 3 out of 4 centuries a leap year is skipped. For instance in 1700, 1800, and 1900 the leap year was skipped but in 2000 it wasn’t. The rule is if the year is divisible by 100 but not divisible by 400 then it is skipped and if it is divisible by both 100 and 400 it isn’t skipped. I think the Julian calendar also had something to do with lunar cycles as well but I don’t really know anything about that.

      none of this explains why its divided in that way, the 15 degrees per hour is already a derived value rather than some fundamental property. 15 degrees already assumes a 360 degree circle, same with an hour. any set of values could have been used for these, as long as they divide neatly

    I realized the sacred geometry of my poptart when I measured each corner as 90 degrees. You know what else has 90 degree corners? The holy Bible. Not only that, the poptarts sit inside a box which also contain 90 degree corners on all sides.
    I first realized the holy significance of this measurement when I saw that each inside angle of the cross is also 90 degrees. The sides of a cross point: up, down, left, and right, these directions correspond directly with the sides of a poptart box: up, down, left, right.
    Legends also indicate that Jesus was frosted and filled with delicious fruit goo. This is why he shared his body with the apostles during the last supper, literally saying: "take this and eat; this is my body".

      For example, there's a correlation between the number of people who drowned in a swimming pool each year and the number of movies Nicholas Cage appeared in per year. It doesn't mean that Cage is responsible for people drowning in pools.
      A 30° angle is not significant in any way beyond what we, humans, are willing to put in it. Maths are a language that WE invented to better explain the world, 30° is just a number and a unit and doesn't mean anything by itself. The reason it's found in several cultures and histories around the world is that all of us humans have the same brain, so the same things tend to look good. 30° is an angle that is used to draw shapes that look good.
