    In my Daily Dozen checklist, I recommend eating a quarter cup of nuts or seeds or two tablespoons of nut or seed butter each day. nutritionfacts.org/daily-dozen/

    I woke up yesterday with a craving for nuts, so I spent the day with my folks.

    Thanks so much for another great video. My favorite dessert is almonds, pistachio, or walnuts with a tablespoon of blackstrap molasses or maple syrup. The nuts taste better if you soak them in water overnight, then store them in the refrigerator. Drain the portion you wish to consume and add molasses or maple syrup.

    Does anyone know how to request a topic from Dr Greger to dig through peer reviewed studies? I've seen the ones on caffeine, but I am really curious about digging into quality traditional teas without any milks or sugars etc. In Satvic foods that I study a little, they stay away from it - but I haven't been able to determine if that is because Indians follow the milk and sugar thing Brits do. Curious about Gong Fu Cha

      Hi, Carmelo Santini! You can find everything on our site related to tea here: nutritionfacts.org/topics/tea/ We receive many topic requests daily. For some, there is not enough evidence to produce a video. Even when there is enough evidence, it takes time to research and produce all of the videos. If your question is not already addressed on the site, you may request your topic here, and I or another volunteer will send it along to Dr. Greger. I hope that helps!

    Hey, on the other hand something similar to Mario Volpstein's homepagw explains the best thing there is to rotating back the hands of time and feeling young again. Maybe try his blueprint to see if it does the job for you as well.

    ok, so the takeaway on this is.......baru almonds are decent but eating regular almonds is better because there are a lot more studies showing its effectiveness than these baru almonds, which, most likely are impossible to find on USA store shelfs to begin with let along finding them in "raw" form.........does these sound right?

    What about steam pasteurized cashews sense you can't eat them raw?

    • @NutritionFactsOrg
      @NutritionFactsOrg  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi, Jake Murphy! As far as I know, moist cooking methods such as steaming do not produce appreciable amounts of advanced glycation end products. In the video, Dr. Greger suggests eating raw nuts, "when you have a choice." Even roasted nuts tend to be much lower in advanced glycation end products (AGEs) than animal-derived foods. You can find everything on our site related to AGEs here: nutritionfacts.org/topics/advanced-glycation-end-products/ I hope that helps!

    Do acorns- they’re the healthiest!

      What do you base this statement on?

    • @broddr
      @broddr 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Acorns are super high in tannins, at that level tannins are anti-nutrients. Native Americans grind up acorns and then pour boiling water over them to reduce the tannin level, which also makes the taste more palatable.

    our body also makes AGEs. from sugars. even from whole sources. apples are found significant in that. should we stop eating apples? genuine question

    • @NutritionFactsOrg
      @NutritionFactsOrg  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, Aanya Chauhan! Apples are not significant sources of advanced glycation end products, as shown in the video. No, we do not suggest that people stop eating apples. I used to love this channel, good advice about what to eat or not, but it has gotten more esoteric... discussing food items that are not part of a normal diet and often not even in health food stores; a lot of space given to subjects further and further outside the normal concerns or availabilities of vegetarians.

    Nuts are not a health food in any form imho. They are full of Aflatoxins/Mycotoxins because of where most nuts are produced in tropical, subtropical climate - by the time they are picked, stored, packed, shipped, could be months (or longer, much longer) - plenty of time for oxidation and the creation of molds.

    • @AussieRon
      @AussieRon 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Correct. Nuts are full of oxalate and anti nutrients. Humans cannot digest nuts properly, they leave the body as they entered.
