- The 2024 Southern California Bluefin Tuna season has officially begun as several boats have ventured offshore & made some good scores on excellent grade fish. Venture with me on a 3 Day Offshore trip on the Polaris Supreme out of Seaforth Landing in San Diego, California on March 7th, 2024, as we hunt for the elusive Bluefin Tuna. The target is always Bluefin Tuna, Yellowfin Tuna, Yellowtail & Dorado while fishing offshore approximately 30 to 40 miles out to sea. Ya Man Danny recently acquired a passport, so be on the lookout for more trips soon. Big thanks to the Polaris Supreme crew for working hard to put us on & help us catch these beautiful fish.

Yes brotha, the E-Bomb is legit! Was definitely inspired last year on the Pacifica when Dustin was just slayin' 'em. This summer is shaping up to be a banger, should be a wild trip for you in July 🤙🏼

Tuna fishing is off to bang pretty early this year
Absolutely! They're already catching some Yellowfin Tuna as well, which is pretty early season. Thank you for the comment @natesal5037 🤙🏼

Fishing in Cali has plenty of options for sure. How's the fishing out in Kentucky?
@user-xm3ux6es3h
Nice class of fish! Chunkers👏👍🎣Congrats
Sic video and catch! I’m going on a 1.5 day trip in May. Can you please tell me what kind of set ups should I bring? Lines, jigs and rod and reels? Ty in advance keep slayin em!
Thank you! @TheLaosak47 What boat are you going on? I would bring
100# nighttime jig fishing setup 200-400 gram jigs + Eddie bomb 16oz
80# daytime sinker rig setup 2/0 hooks 4 to 10oz torpedo sinkers
60# setup if u have it for jig fishing
40# flyline setup mutu circle hooks 2, 4
30# flyline setup mutu circle hooks 2, 4
Bring everything you have, basically. The Bluefin are anywhere from 20 to 220 🐟 I use an Avet reel w/Phenix Rail Rod for the big boys, need heavy leader for the jigs at night at least 200# 🤙🏼
@@SlaycationFishing dammit I can’t sleep after watching your video. Reply 5x’s already😅. I’m going on the Pacific Dawn on May 15th. I can’t really afford much of the expensive gears. I got a Penn Fathom 40LDS on a Daiwa Proteus 80-unlimited rail rod. I hope this will do. I also got some 20-60 lbs setups for the day. Ty for the advice brother much appreciated. Keep slayin em!
All good brother, I couldn't sleep much while editing the video 😳 You should be good with the Penn Fathom for nighttime jigging. Bring an assortment of knife jigs, but I would drop the Eddie bomb rig first. You can also use that setup in the daytime just switch from the knife jig to rubber band or dropshot sinker rig. Ask the deckhands on the boat & they'll get you set up 👍🏼 I'll be on the San Diego Full Day trip that day let's go get 'em 🎣 @TheLaosak47
@@SlaycationFishing I keep hearing about this Eddie Bombers, where can I get one?
They have them over at Seaforth for about $40. You can make your own of course, but you need a wired thru sinker, which are expensive Not bad for a chance at a giant BFT 🐟 @TheLaosak47
Dang dude! 18 bluefin? Talk about slaying! Congrats. Did you get most of your fish on the E.B.? How was the day time fishing for you?
Actually, the boat caught 18 Bluefin as a whole & I got my personal best BFT. 1 for 2 on the E-bomb + other anglers were catching them on 300g to 400g jigs in Katy Perry & Red. The daytime fishing was tough, there wasn't much going on
Thanks for the response. Personal best makes that trip well worth it.@@SlaycationFishing
Absolutely. The previous best was 97# on the Pacifica, so let's see if we can get another PB next month 🤙🏼@JoshSuman
I will say that their Skipper is a good guy. We've fished a couple times with him shadowing us on our 50' out of Mag Bay. 20 guys cramming the stern and tangling each other with their Mauraders. Gotta have sharp elbows and no brains for that kinda nonsense...
The captain has a solid reputation, no doubt. I will say that fishing on a sportboat is a big challenge & it can get difficult & frustrating most the time. That's why I fish on the bow 😆 Less tangles if you can keep 'em from turning their head towards the stern 🤙🏼
Lime green and hot...
🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼
Do you jig fast or more of a slow pitch jig to catch em?
During the night time we like to drop the jigs on 'em hot & fast cuz they're down quite deep & you have to get vertical in the zone to hook one. Slow pitch jigging is done more in the day time to create a reaction bite as they're visibility is increased
How heavy were the jigs you were using?
The captain recommended 200 to 400 gram jigs, and most of the fish were caught on 300 to 400g in Katy Perry & Red color. I dropped down the 16oz Eddie bomb sinker rig & got bit twice in a row as the sinker will get down to the zone fast 🤙🏼@etuttle514
How much per pound does the processor charge to pack and freeze the fish?
I believe the current rate is around $2 per pound for the 5mm bag. Prices have gone up considerably in the past 3 years, but they'll do the best job possible 👍🏼
@@SlaycationFishing how long is the turn around on that in general. I’m planning on coming down from Alaska to catch and bring some back if it all works out 🙏
After you book your trip, your next call is to the processor to make a reservation for same-day processing. Frozen is about 24 hours, so you can pick up the next day & pack it for travel. I'd be cool to see ya down here checking our fisheries 🐟
Nobody caught much for a stupid priced trip. 18 for the whole boat. Landings pay only about 60% of fuel costs that you and I pay at the fuel dock. The landings have been gouging us for more than 10 years even though there is little fuel tax for commercial boats. I've caught more than 100 and maybe 200 BFT in my life and they can stick their $2,000 trip prices where the sun doesn't shine. No mas for me!!!
Definitely pricey & we didn't catch much (Bluefin being Bluefin). If we had limits of all species then it wouldn't be that bad. I can recall 4 years ago the price of a 3 day was 900 & even a few years before that 175 for a full day trip. Can always just go slay them 100 miles out in our own rigs instead. Thank you for your input & keep slayin 'em 🤙🏼 @peterking1412
