      Question I’m thinking of buy 2008-09 Taurus/ Sable or the 2013-19 Taurus base on what you mentioned if I were to buy one used that has the water pump replaced would it still be a good buy or not

    • @JrZCarZ

      @@gervonniejones4045 if the water pump was replaced I would ask if it failed and water got in the engine or it was replaced before failure. If replaced before failure, go for it. If water got in the engine, run away

    is the bearing for the water pump a "permanently lubricated" type or does it receive splash lubrication from the engine oil? I can understand why it would fail if it does not have a constant bath of oil for the bearing but it should not fail if it's being lubricated by engine oil. I've never seen one of these pumps so maybe you can check the old pump you had to see how that bearing is lubricated.

    Do you have to take the power steering pump off? Is it mounted to the timing cover? Can you just take the pulley itself off and make enough room or does the entire power steering pump have to come off

    I really like the way you explained it step by step I started my first one today some things I didn't take off that you did but I did ask my customer what the shop quoted him to do the job 1,000 SO I went from there and we agreed on six hundred I tore it down in 3 1/2 hours000 and and tomorrow it goes back together again does anyone think this is a fare enough price I've done the maxima that's worst my opiniona

      Thanks. Yep shop times make it a really expensive repair. You just have to make sure they didn't drive it long with the oil milkshake cause they could have wiped the rod/main bearings out if they did.

    I wouldve replaced that shit 3.5L engine with the more reliable 3.0L Duratec with the external waterpump. These 2 engines are interchangeable with the powertrains. The 3.0L has been around for decades and is a good engine! Was used in the 96-04 Tauruses

    • @JrZCarZ
      @JrZCarZ  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yep, I had a 3.0 Duratec in my 01 Sable wagon and it was probably one of my favorite cars that I owned. The 3.0 Duratec doesn't mate up to the trans (or AWD unit) in the 3.5, and it doesn't produce as much power so it's not as interchangable as you think. I would have much rather thrown a 3.5 Ecoboost in it and upgrade the common failure points to make it a bulletproof 4 tire fryer.

      @MondayNightRAWsRKO2024-xk9ew 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @JrZCarZ I meant in the Fusion Sport 2010-12 the 3.0L Duratec would be the engine I'd replace that 3.5L Cyclone with! Yes lesser HP, but more reliable and I'm sure would mate to the Aisin T80 6speed automatic transmission regular Fusions use that garbage 6F35 6 speed auto

    you are right ,, FORD has screwed this up ,,, and they are getting sued for it,,,, my 2016 explorer with only 56k has this current issue, and yes i am being charged 2500 , i found some cheaper places, but i decided to do it myself, and i am not in a rush so i been 3 days at it, slow and steady 3 to 4 hours ........ its a pain in the ass , and the engineers are extreme A holes for it,,,,,

      The only reason to have a waterpump in this location is they KNOW it will eventually fail and cause more damage leading to big repair shop money. Check out my latest video on the Edge to see what junk I found I the oil after a bearing failure.

    it happend to me twice, almost 5 years between fails, and engine still running after 10 years. It is a pain in the ass to fix it, but I think that desing has a purpose, in case of leak, all antifreeze will mixed with oil, since oil is too hot, it will boil water, that steam from valve cover will go to air intake, and since water doe not burn will turn off your engine safetly. It is a mess, but I think that is the reason to have the water pump inside the engine.

  • @delvinbegay1502

    Sounds like it would be easier just to pull the motor and replace the water pump.

    • @JrZCarZ
      @JrZCarZ  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Honestly, Id the water pump fails and the coolant mixes with the oil, you're better off pulling the motor and just replacing it cause it's a guarantee that the bearings are hosed ......... So many of these engines met a premature demise because of this terrible water pump design.
