@Nobody Too You Wolf makes zero ammo. They label privately label all their ammo (Whether it be made in the Ukraine, Russia, or elsewhere). Where the majority comes from varies depending on caliber and type. In .223 and 7.62x39 Wolf gets a very large portion from Tula Cartridge Works (TCW). Barnaul has separated themselves from other steel cased Russian ammo manufacturers in my experience.
@@duroisgawd I've had quite a few short strokes on the Tula made wolf .223. Though anecdotal, that would indicate that they are weak loads. The military classic and Barnaul ones don't give me any issues other than being banned from indoor use.
I used an ATI polymer receiver with a Bushmaster A2 upper and slidefire bump stock. Basically a demo gun to use at machine gun shoots and used it in 2013 to demo to some ATF agents at their yearly qualifications. The agents had fun with the slidefire stock and enjoyed themselves. After 20k rounds I did find some stress cracks around the front and rear takedown pins. I have repaired the lower and but had a change to test out the repairs.

I then bought a DB15 CCKM300FDE / 300BO, key mod hand guard, all FDE and its AMAZING! it is my 10 year old boys favorite rifle! the only thing was, the first outing one of the weird hex screws/wedges and nuts, that hold the hand guard on fell out! but Diamondback is AMAZING and sent me one complete set of them for free (3 pieces for one hex screw) and a few extra wedges and nuts so thats cool! And i also bought a S&W M&P10 with 5R rifling which was BY FAR the most Accurate rifle ive shot! but had to go back at first because the gas port wasnt rite, and it was a single shot after the first Mag! looks like the Aero was gassed for real mil spec ammo, I have many Areo based guns and one full factory build. they just work and work some more. this would be my pick of this list for sure.
Don Richter I would agree in this configuration, but all of theirs using free float handguards use a set screw gas block without dimpling the barrel. As Chris said, eventually the gas block will move.
Thanks for a good, informative, non-condescending video! Regarding relative quality with more expensive makes, it seems that 'quality' mainly means durability under long, heavy use. I have over 3k rounds through my M&P Sport II, often with cheaper ammo in multi-hundred round sessions without issue aside from a couple of stuck cases (corrected by cleaning the chamber). Regarding chrome v nitride, Mr GunsNGear started a comparison in association with Faxon, and the impression I got was that chrome is more durable in full-auto, but for semi-auto use, there's not much difference.
The first AR pistol I ever bought was a Diamondback. I’ve never had a problem with it, and it has always been a favorite when I take new people shooting. I also have an S&W M&P Sport first gen rifle that is a good rifle. In the last couple of years, I have used many Aero parts for various builds with nothing but success. In short, good list so far. Can’t wait to see part 2!
My first was a PSA upper on an Anderson 80 percent lower. I've put in a PSA premium nib bcg and an Aim Surplus drop in trigger. I will keep upgrading a little at a time but for now my money is going to ammo
The good thing with ARs is you can buy a basic rifle and upgrade as you wish, as your budget allows, and can usually do all the modifications yourself.
Can't wait for part two. You've changed my perspective on ati. Immense respect for you Chris. Agree in full with aero. One of several rifles I recommend in this price range is the spikes st15 le mid length. Normally around 800 but superb quality.

Chris this is perfect timing... I’m an AK 7.62x39 fan (just what I like for my own reasons but respect the AR platform). I’m waiting on a Meridian Defense custom AK build and that was my big firearm purchase for this year. After getting several AKs over the years I’m finally ready for an AR-15. AK74 just doesn’t make sense to me right now because of cost vs value of the rifles and lack of variety in ammo. Anyways...I want to start with a budget but decent AR-15, and this video helps me a lot. Love your channel and thanks for sharing your knowledge & experience!
Good thing that I put together a aero precision! Before I was going to get the M&P AR15 ! With the upgrade of charge handle and BCG and red dot 🔴, and the soft case, cost me $1200 , here in California ! I am very happy!

M&P Sport II is a fantastic rifle, budget or otherwise. add an olive drab green Magpul stock and carbine length hand guard to it, and you are still under $750.
Smith & Wesson M&P 15 sport superb also honorable mention Palmetto former Army infantry I would trust both my M&P 15 sport has chrome-lined bolt carrier
I have built an ar15 using the omni hybrid stripped upper and lower receivers. 300 rounds within 1 hour of range time with no melting or cracking of the receiver. It's one of my favorites.
John Ross Wilhite - Aero doesn’t have a cold hammer forged barrel with M249 SAW spec chrome lining and a pinned gas block - it’s not on par with Daniel Defense, but’s it a fine budget AR.
I had 3 of the ati receiver sets because I got them stupid cheap and they were all hot garbage. Magazines would just fall out while shooting on two of them tried a bunch of different mags and mag releases with no luck. The 3rd one you almost had to hammer the mag in the well and it was even harder to get out if you ever got it in. Ended up putting a 9mm conversion block into one of them and got a little use out of it until the upper broke where the front take down pin goes. Straight trash
Lead Head this was about 3 years ago I guess so maybe they’ve corrected the issues I had but no need bothering with them when an Anderson/PSA is just as cheap and actually lighter. I do however wana try out the ati 410 AR that looks like it could be cool
@@justa3v619 yeah thats what they were advertising it could be a .22 a 410 and others, when i bought it, but its def a cheap rifle like the hand guard wobbling and the mags wobbling but functions great!
I bought a 18in DB 223 wylde upper that had a bull barrel for a price too good to be true (barely over $200 this year). Well the "too good to be true part was the upper receiver. I tried to mount a scope on it and it canted my scope very noticeably about 3-4 degrees to the left. So I just bought and Aero upper receiver to replace it. Thought about chucking the DB upper, but Im thinking I should just build an upper with a regular red dot.
Wow interesting video :) how much I love to build one of these AR's and make the bullets as a new hobby for those rainy days, there only ideal for urban environments/ or concrete jungles I understand, and body armour becoming more popular.
The M&P Sport II still uses a 1/9 twist. Don’t remember hearing that in the video. Edit: Thanks for making this video! Now I can just send all the people asking me what to buy this instead of lengthy explanations, lmao.
I thought I overpaid for my MP sport around Christmas last year for 7 bills. And now sheeeeeeeeit so glad I got it. Ammo prices can eat my entire ass however.
What is the difference between a carbon upper & lower vs. polymer? I have a Bushmaster carbon 15 that I got in 2012 and I've had no problems so far just wanted to know thanks
I appeal to your experience inside Colt and observance of the QC procedures: When I discussed the critical location of the gas port drill torturing the grooves and lands as it penetrates the barrel wall, I was essentially rebuffed. "With all the other timing issues stacked up, the port location to dodge brutalizing the groove and land it penetrates, we cannot control location of the gas port in relation to the rifling." How does Colt / FN control the burrs raised or half moon port profiles and chrome plate over them to forever be a snag for bullets passing through on the way to the muzzle?
Depending on gas port diameter, there is no way to avoid hitting both the lands and grooves b/c the distance b/t them is less than the diameter of the gas port drill. There is no point in doing what you're asking. As you fire the rifle the gas port is continually being eroded. Any burrs are going to be worn/smoothed away. A quality barrel maker is going to have the drilling process sufficiently dialed in as to not leave burrs, or they will at least de-burr the hole. If you don't believe me, watch the InRange series of interviews with the guy from Faxon. This question was specifically addressed and he said that their testing showed no improvement in accuracy when adjusting the gas port placement in relation to the rifling. He also brought up that it is physically impossible to put a gas port in b/t the lands on a 5.56 barrel b/c the distance is smaller than the gas port size. Hopefully this addresses your question. I really don't think its worth worrying about.
"torturing the grooves and lands" a bit over the top in the drama department don't you think? Its just a small hole drilled int he barrel, these are not MATCH guns anyway. If you want that buy a BOLT action. The hole is de-burred and if if not will naturally wear down. The crown is more important anyway not the mid section of the barrel.
Chris I really enjoy your videos. I would really like to hear your feedback on LaRue Tactical Rifles. In particular the ultimate up her kids when they’re fully assembled on the LaRue lower. And I would really like to hear your feedback on 65 Grendel. I would be happy to send you stuff to try out and look at. What do I need to do, or what can I do, to encourage that?
We use Stag at a duty rifle. They’re very well made. Been using them since they came out in 2003 I believe... No issues. They performed better than the Colts we had.
I still have my Model 3. I've shot riflemen at an Appleseed with it, been through four or five carbine courses with it and it still works. All I did was add a bottom rail and magpul foregrip, a PA 3x Prismatic Scope, and a Magpul RLS sling. It eats the shittiest Tula to Hornady 75gr BTHP. It's still my go to gun.
Why is that??? I cant believe Remington is going bankrupt again! as many 760's and 7600's i buy , they should make it just fine! There the very best hunting rifles out there!
@@leadhead7338 I can agree. At least it's not fair to disagree at a practical level and at their pricepoint. I've learned to appreciate Reminton rifles. Anyways...I want to start with a budget but decent AR-15, and this video helps me a lot. Love your channel and thanks for sharing your knowledge & experience!
Go PSA.
Just my opinion, but if you're buying just one, I'd buy BCM. Good quality and not expensive.
Go Diamondback, or PSA! Diamondback is 100% AMERICAN MADE i believe!
I think DSArms are excellent... very well made.
Just can't find them. I been looking for their m16a4 clone
They make a hell of a bolt carrier group for 95 bucks..I had 50 thousand through one
I bought a lot of DSA products, all good!
David Schaadt I haven’t seen many TH-cam videos in them. Their lowers are awesome.
I have an m-4 upper bolt carrier s,stocks just about everything but the lower, all real good and a great price.
I have a Diamondback DB-10 in .308. Runs like a Swiss watch.
That's a cool AR10.
All I know is.. keep them clean lubed and loaded.. looks like we'll be using them
AMERICA STRONG!!!
STAY FREE!!
LONG LIVE THE REPUBLIC!
Pray that we can keep this Republic but if all else fails, fight with everything you have in your spirit!
War is not good. No matter why it is waged.
My Department has some M&P15s. My experience with them is they are not up to high round counts. We have had a lot of failures with the small parts.
@Booger Balls I stand by my direct observations.
Good thing that I put together a aero precision! Before I was going to get the M&P AR15 ! With the upgrade of charge handle and BCG and red dot 🔴, and the soft case, cost me $1200 , here in California ! I am very happy!
No kidding I had no idea you are from Rochester. Im from Jamestown... It was such a great feeling to move to a free state
The IWI Zion 15 looks pretty great as does the Savage
TY,TY! I hear you clearly on this. Honest, gud side-info. I'm looking for low maint/low use RELIABLE. I detest multiple places for multiple failures, ergo LEGO bastards. But I also see/appreciate occasional need to own this type. A closet-queen until SHTF. Looking forward to Pt2.
I like on how he breaks down the functions of firearms and the pros and cons. "The Professor of Firearm's"!
Ruger make a great AR, for the high end and the low end
I love my polymer rifle. I did put a Midwest industries upper on the ATI lower though, she looks good and runs good can’t ask for more than that.
Great series!💪🙏
Great reviews. The best on TH-cam. Thank you!
M&P Sport II is a fantastic rifle, budget or otherwise. add an olive drab green Magpul stock and carbine length hand guard to it, and you are still under $750.
Even Chris doesn't shoot with the non intergrated carry handle. I love my A2 upper.
Oh, I do! Not nearly as much. Eyes getting old. Optics make it much easier!
A video about the Eagle Arms MSR would be nice. Budget rife and a division of Armalite.
I have the Aero OME from Brownells. It’s an excellent rifle as Chris says, along with the fit/finish as well. No complaints.
I went with a DS Arms upper. I hope I made a good Choice.
You did well
I have one ,all good.
Re-watching this. I have several rifles with Aero components and have been very happy.
Ive heard good things about windham weaponry besides their baffling desision to use commercial spec buffer tubes.
Smith & Wesson M&P 15 sport superb also honorable mention Palmetto former Army infantry I would trust both my M&P 15 sport has chrome-lined bolt carrier
Awesome video. Glad you split it...smart.
I have built an ar15 using the omni hybrid stripped upper and lower receivers. 300 rounds within 1 hour of range time with no melting or cracking of the receiver. It's one of my favorites.
Five rounds a minute for an solid hour; that’s a hot barrel.
Beautiful AR
Always great content regarding various weapons being reviewed. Was very unaware of Aero making complete rifles.
I really enjoy your channel thanks for the great video!
Thank you sir and ma'am for your vids!
Awesome job brother, thank you .
The Aero certainly appears most consistent by way of ejector pattern.
Assuming adequate ammo I choose to run a Socom, a sensible AR pistol and a semi-auto pistol. 3 weapons 2 to 3 types of ammo.
Got the Sport 2 with the Magpul furniture and love it. I like it better than my DD rifle. Great videos CB.
😂🤣😂🤣🤣😂😂
Just as gud
John Ross Wilhite - Aero doesn’t have a cold hammer forged barrel with M249 SAW spec chrome lining and a pinned gas block - it’s not on par with Daniel Defense, but’s it a fine budget AR.
Would love to send a check where is the most current location of small arms Solutions

I'm interested in trying to get my mitts on the Aero Thunder Ranch model. Everywhere I've looked they're sold out though.
Pretty much everything is sold out, everywhere right now.
@@Mr_Clean Very true. And people on secondary market aren't selling at reasonable prices.
Very good and informative as always
I had 3 of the ati receiver sets because I got them stupid cheap and they were all hot garbage. Magazines would just fall out while shooting on two of them tried a bunch of different mags and mag releases with no luck. The 3rd one you almost had to hammer the mag in the well and it was even harder to get out if you ever got it in. Ended up putting a 9mm conversion block into one of them and got a little use out of it until the upper broke where the front take down pin goes. Straight trash
Mine is loose, but have never fell out or even caused a hick up! just hate the wobbling mags!
Thought about chucking the DB upper, but Im thinking I should just build an upper with a regular red dot.
if somethings wrong send it back, there made in house, shit happens! just send back and they will replace it i bet.
Wow interesting video :) how much I love to build one of these AR's and make the bullets as a new hobby for those rainy days, there only ideal for urban environments/ or concrete jungles I understand, and body armour becoming more popular.
20" FTW
Very informative!
The M&P Sport II still uses a 1/9 twist. Don’t remember hearing that in the video.
Edit: Thanks for making this video! Now I can just send all the people asking me what to buy this instead of lengthy explanations, lmao.
Springfield, Ruger, Caracal, PSA, Anderson?
It is part 1 =D
@@knottheory79220 The suspense is killing me
Can’t do budget AR’s without including PSA.
@@556poor7 psa is going to be in part 2 apparently
Andersons are garbage and the fan boys argue its just a rollmark on completely butchered manufactured lowers and uppers
Anderson arms, good for the price, Bear Creek Arms good uppers
I love my aero stuff.
I never thought of Aero as "low budget" but perhaps cost effective.
I think “budget” and “cost effective” are the same.
CZ bought Colt.
Pin gas block is cool to have.
On their page Diamondback claims that the barrels they use are 4150 CMV.
Here in 2023 PSA is putting out dependable AR15’s at around $450-$500. Great general purpose guns.
Now all ya gotta do is decide which model(s) to order. Haha
The ATI had a way more consistant ejection pattern than the DB15
I have two of the rifles on this list the Diamond back and the Aero Percision so I’m feeling pretty good right now😂🤙🏼🤠
I have 3! LOL!!!
I would love to review a LaRue rifle if I could get my hands on one.
How do I reach you to talk about that
Do you have any experience with the original Stag Arms ?
We use Stag at a duty rifle. They’re very well made. Been using them since they came out in 2003 I believe... No issues. They performed better than the Colts we had.
I still have my Model 3. I've shot riflemen at an Appleseed with it, been through four or five carbine courses with it and it still works. All I did was add a bottom rail and magpul foregrip, a PA 3x Prismatic Scope, and a Magpul RLS sling. It eats the shittiest Tula to Hornady 75gr BTHP. It's still my go to gun.
I'm still shocked any firearms manufacturers remain in the northeastern USA.
Why is that??? I cant believe Remington is going bankrupt again! as many 760's and 7600's
i buy , they should make it just fine! There the very best hunting rifles out there!
@@leadhead7338 I can agree. At least it's not fair to disagree at a practical level and at their pricepoint. I've learned to appreciate Reminton rifles. They shoot well for mid-range production...more than adequate and the Seven and 700 don't feel cheap. Most of all, elegance and strength through simplicity in design which is their hallmark.
