60 years ago I was taiught to Always mix your softened butter and sugar first, then add the eggs and whip up with an hand held electric mixer. Glad to see you do it this way. So many people don’t know this trick.

I made these a few days ago and wow they are amazing!!!! I found that as the days went by the flavors really come together and the brownie is still moist, sweet and tangy!!

These would be great for an informal brunch, or afternoon tea/coffee gathering. I'm so relieved you mentioned they can be made ahead of time. I'm pushing 70 and have arthritic hands but still have a great zest for living. I get flustered with too much last minute prep so these are wonderful. How did you store them? I don't yet know yr channel but I'll visit soon 😚😊😊

That's what I did too, added the lemon zest🍋 in the icing and less icing. It was super delicious😋👌
I'm not much for lemon desserts, but I wanted to try this cake brownie. It was really good. The only thing I did different, was for my glaze, I used milk in my powered sugar with just a bit of lemon juice. I didn't want too much of lemon sense there was lemon in the cake brownie. Was very tasty 😋. Thank you.

Looks easy and delicious. You can use a fresh lemon for juice and zest if you have it, or bottled lemon juice when you need to rely on staples.

OmG i'm lovin it.so perfect..i baked it today.my mom is loving it..She had it after dinner and then she said you have to make tea for me so that i can enjoy this cake more..once i made lemon cake from other recipe i didnt liked it, it was too lemony.Ur recipe has perfect blend..For me its perfect and am prepared to try Ur other lemon cake recipes.I followed Ur recipe exactly except that i made half of glaze and used bit less than qtr cup of lemon juice (just a bit).people who like mild flavour of lemon they may cut down amount of lemon juice in cake and icing..i tried Ur cake without glazing, it was so delicious even without glaze..Thank You so much for best recipe

Would you call this a blondie? Ive never made a blondie, but this came out so nice and light colored I think it qualifies as a blondie.
And a couple of notes to self for next time: I made the glaze with a tablespoon of lime juice and 3 tablespoons of powdered sugar (ran out of limes). It was sweet enough and covered the cake fine.. Added a bit of water (couple of tablespoon) while making the glaze because it was too thick, it came out nice and lemony anyway.
Also for next time, since the cake was quite sweet, I should try a little bit less sugar and zest some lemon as well.
Hi Jenny ! Yup, I called this a blondie, it's just a really good lemon cake, but you'll notice the lack of much baking powder. This results in a much more dense cake, - if this was a chocolate cake instead of lemon, you would get that "fudgy" type of texture, because the cake didn't rise up, which is typical with chocolate brownies. How was it?
I just made this and man is it good. I used Splenda instead of regular sugar for the cake and Swerve confectioners sugar substitute for the glaze. I also added about four drops of yellow food coloring to give it more of a "lemony" look. The 1 cup of sugar for the glaze made way too much glaze though. I had to use 3 tbls of juice plus a little more and ended up using about half of the mixture. Also, while the glaze was awesome tasting, I thought it over powered the taste of the cake but maybe the Swerve I used was sweeter and somehow more intense than regular sugar??? Will definitely halve the glaze sugar amount next time and put on a thinner coat.
Ahhh real measures for those of us too cheap to waste money on a scale. I generally use 1/3-1/2 the sugar of what a recipe calls for. Now I will have to try this recipe

I make these too. So easy and so good. Sometimes I poke holes in the cake while it's still hot and pour the glaze on the hot cake.

Baked this yesterday with great results but think mine could be even fudgier. I actually did an orange zest glaze which is actually a nice combo. It really is so simple. Any tips for making it even more moist ?.
Hi limeykl, to make it more moist, you can try adding in some sour cream, not much, but try adding some in. I have many recipes where I use it, and it works well. You can also try yogurt. If you wish also, you can try lowering the amount of baking powder, so that the "cake" doesn't rise up as much and this will give add to the density, but also it can be as simple of not baking as much. Also if you wished you could add in a bit of melted white chocolate, which will change the recipe, but this could be something you would want to try later on down the line. I'd start with the sour cream, it's a good way to start. Sour cream has a level of acidity which helps greatly making a cake or brownies tender, but will also help with keeping them more moist.
