I'm still unsure if that is an unintentional line or not. In WoW the troll male player has a /charge that yells "For Zul'jin!" which means Blizzard would've acknowledged if that line was a mess up. Plus Zul'jin is not directly a name but a couple phrases. "Zul" translates to "Voodoo Master" and "jin" (in the RPG) is "Chieftain/Elder", thus "Zul'jin" translates to "Great Tribal Witch Doctor". Well, a few things about russian localization (I hope anyone will find it interesting): Our grunts and raiders sound more...orcish. Their voices are rougher and they are growling. And they dont sound like master Yoda. And raider also make a reference to old soviet carton "There once was a dog" (Жил-был Пёс). With trolls.... well, almost everyone speak normally, but Vol'jin and Rokhan have some sort of central asian-caucasian accents with grammar mistakes. But instead of Rokhan quote from this video, our has one funnier: (in normal voice) "Where did the accent go? Try it yourself - you will break your tongue". Ironically, in warcraft 3 our taurens called minotaurs. Blademsater doesnt have a japanese accent, but he use many japanese words in his quotes. And some funny quotes (why not): "Ghoul to ghoul: friend, comrade and food" (Headhunter) "Do orcs dream of electropigs?" Obviously pretty much all the annoyed replies in the French version are based on our local movies and comedians, but there is one standout exception that I'd like to share. One of the Tauren's annoyed replies is "Where is the vase of Lord Markham??" This is an insanely specific reference to a bugged quest in Might and Magic 7 where we're supposed to steal a vase that isn't actually in the game. I sometimes wonder how many people got it.
3:25 when I used to play my translated version many years before, I never got that reference until I heard the english original (due to the fact that our translated version completly deleted that shattering sound and Tauren just said "sorry"). However, even if our traslaters would include that sound, most of our people wouldnt understand anyway, since we say this proverb in slightly different way (roughly translated to english as "To act like elephant amongs porcelain"). It is often amazing how translation from one language to another can bring such difficult challenges...

It's an allusion to a common trope where someone who knows they are about to die desperately tries to tell someone else to pass a message to their wife, but is brutally cut off by whatever is killing them. Thus ensuring the message never gets out.
This is very insightful, being French I played in French as a child, and it referenced french culture obviously, so when I switched to English later on I couldn't understand some of the references being made.
I mean some references to popular movies or personalities were kept, but when it started to be too obscure to a French audience, they chose to adapt it, the French translation team did a wonderful job

Spirit Walker is easily my favorite unit in Wc3 aside from maybe the Crypt Fiend because of their quotes and they’re just awesome units in the game
