AirPlay on mac will definitely come In handy during house parties as we do not have to walk towards the mac all the time to control the music as we can control the music with our iPhone or iPad 😊

I own a 2021 M1 iMac and a 2017 MacBook Air, both running Monterey. I'm watching this video to learn what they can do. I also love the fact that I can use my new iMac to play content from my iPhone XR. The 4.5K display of the iMac is better.

Amazing effort. Thanks for doing this Jeff. My fav feature is definitely AirPlay to Mac (Will it work with someone else's Mac ?) I used the Big Sur Public Beta from Day 1 and it screwed up with my work flows so won't recommend installing Beta on Day 1 to other people, especially not on your work devices !!
I don't have a Mac yet, I was going to get one, but then the M1 and M1X started coming out, and waiting for my future 16 inch MacBook Pro, when they are available for purchase, by that time Monterey will most likely be available for downloading and would most likely already be installed on them. 10/27/2021 - Update, I already traded in my I-Phone 10R for the I-Phone 13 Pro Max in the beautiful Sierra Blue, also I ordered the M1 Max 16 inch Mac Book Pro, and it will be delivered in mid November, can't wait. I also read that Monterey will already be installed on it, and read in TechRadar that there are two apps will keep the Menu Bar Black so that the Notch will be camouflaged in the Menu Bar, they are TopNotch and Forehead, for those who are not happy with the notch. I am happy that Apple is putting a 1080p camera in there. There are so many new features and more power and ram in these new Mac Book Pros.
It’s weird how Apple touts SharePlay as a new thing when you can share screen and even give remote access to someone via the Messages and Screen Share apps.
also SharePlay is just way better than most screen sharing applications. Its wired deep into the OS and has a lot of features that you can't access with apps like AnyDesk
Learned more from your video than anywhere else. It almost makes me willing to get on Monterrey beta but have mission critical apps and the vendors refuse to fix any beta issues
Good review, as far as airplay you needed to mention that not every mac is supported. This is not just a Monterey feature but also depends on with Mac you have that support this. Mac can be used as an AirPlay server: 2018 MacBook Pro and later 2018 MacBook Air and later 2019 iMac and later 2017 iMac Pro 2019 Mac Pro 2020 Mac mini Any Mac older than what is listed will not work.
Your video is fantastic, it is proving invaluable for me. I’m going though it bit at a time and making notes. I’m returning to MacOS after 10 years or so, I’m now just waiting to purchase the new 16’’ MacBook Pro when it’s announced and goes on sale (soon I hope). I think I just realized all the M1 iMac wallpapers are just close-ups of different parts and angles of the letters in the cursive “hello” Apple used for the marketing!
Hey, could anyone see if Monterey changed the audio driver equalizer? For Big Sur on MacBook Pro M1, the speaker output is not as good as 2017 MacBook pro 13” model.. cheers
My biggest frustration with professional hardware audio companies are some of them literally taking a year to update their plugins and apps. I now only use companies that have CoreAudio apps. They will always work regardless of macOS updates.
Hopefully those airplay features mean you can directly connect airplay only speakers to a Mac via a wired connection. Lag is crazy when trying to use HomePod as a speaker

I enjoy the vids. But what I would really find useful is if you do similar in-depth video from the perspective of someone that uses many cross platform services and not just Apples products. Like the calendar, integration with Gmail. Imagine having to work across windows, mac, iOS and Android daily. What services would you use and how. Would also be interesting to see how iOS apps run on Mac like Signal, Telegram and many others.
The option to have the menu bar at the top in full screen is a much NEEDED add. When I switched from windows to Mac I hated that this didn’t have that feature. One think I wish apple did change is wallpaper. I dont like that I have to have a dark background with dark mode on and light background with light mode only. I want to have system dark mode but use the light wallpaper for some apple made backgrounds. If I’m missing something please correct me in the comments.
Airplay to the mac is like 5 years too late. I have been doing this from my iPhone to my Windows and Linux computers using the Kodi media player and a plugin. You can literally become an old person just by waiting on Apple to release features.

My audio apps are still just barely catching up to Big Sur. Will look forward to updating to this in like 2023 though.
