- For Season 3, THE FINALS will no longer be hosting the template ranked tournament mode, and instead Terminal Attack will replace it as a new way for you to get your rank through the upcoming months.

I share my personal thoughts and opinions on this change, whilst explaining the reasoning behind the communities mindset as to why they mostly want to revert this change.

Hi everyone, I hope a lot of people see this after watching THiiXY's video and I understand everyone's concerns with The Finals and fortunately we have received news from the Embark team.

Having the cashout tournaments pulled back a little from the main ranked game mode for the Devs to experiment on is honestly such a good decision I think for the future, having a new ranked game for players to play a stable ranked match and then having separate game mode for new changes and experiments will be good I think
Players want to grind for diamond and ruby skins but NOT on TA thats my main issue and im sure its alot of other players as well
@@Zurdo1x Ranked TA is completely separate. You will still be able to play Ranked Cashout. Its just gonna have a bit more dynamic play.
Like i said im not going to be able to grind for diamond and ruby skins unless i play TA thats my msin issue im glad it has another separate tournament mode but for me the reward grind on cashout was the only reason i played this game
Now I understand why it counted as a ranked game if you left during a TA. They tried to warn us 😂
Tournament, in my opinion, is the quintessential The Finals experience. The emphasis on team play and control under chaos is exactly what many players find so refreshing about the game. Removing ranked from tournament would be a massive misstep in my opinion. I know me and my squad would grind much less in the case.
There’s a simple solution, two separate ranked modes. Ranked TA and Ranked Tournament with seperate ranks for each. Similar to how Apex had BR ranked and Arena ranked back in the day.
Dropping ranked tournaments would be a huge mistake as it has to be most of the player base. You cant ditch the majority of your player base
It's now confirmed that this change is TEMPORARY. They're using S3 to work on Cashout ranked to make it a better experience. That's a huge difference than changing the game all together. Thank God.

I became a diamond player because i enjoy the game, i put the time in to learn the strategy of playing cashout.
I don't see why we cant have both and track towards the same rank.
The Finals is a cashout, if it's about pushing a payload I play Overwatch, if it's about playing 5v5 or 6v6 planting bombs we have CS, Valorant, COD, and many other games with this mode. Having changed only shows the developers' desperation due to the declining player numbers. And instead of adding more content to the game, they decide to change something that nobody asked for, what will be the next modes? TDM/Domination? Meanwhile, here we go again for another 90 days playing with Mp5/UZI, Ak/Scar, and ONE, A SINGLE SNIPER, this is "SHOOTING GAME" but we don't have weapons, even the deceased Combat Arms, Point Blank, Warface had more weapons at launch than we have in a Season 3 of The Finals...
I can completely understand why people would be upset. Fewer people care about Terminal Attack enough to justify mainlining it for ranked, and it in no way represents the finals experience. It sucks to see, because it was problably an internal decision from Nexon and was out of Embarks control. Which, its kinda hard to understand how they thought this would go considering the dialogue they've definitely seen in the discord thus far. In their attempts to draw a more mainstream audience, which this game hasn't really appealed to in the first place, has led to just alienating more of the community. Hoping they make the change, nice video.
The only kind of sound and logical explanation I have seen so far. I hope we will find out soon what is going on
What reason would Nexon have to force this mode onto the playerbase?
@@ecstxsThe best I’ve heard answering this is that TA has been the more popular mode in S2. I can only assume that they have the player data and possibly it showed that they had more players queueing for TA than even Ranked this season.
@@AdjustSZN Even if that is real is only because TA already came out when the season was pretty much packed, most people are settled in their ranks and they arent playing ranked anymore. I myself been sitting at plat 4 for a month (wanted nothing with the diamond grind) and havent played ranked ever since (a lot of my friends are the same). So people end up playing a lot of power shift or obviously they try out the new mode because it is fresh so why not. Then what do they get? a false metric of what really is going on. First day this is 100% gonna have alot of people playing, but watch as people will get out of it fast in the first week
I'm not really in the loop of who makes decisions at embark but who is Nexon and why is he so special that he can make this kind of decision?
Honestly I think both Tournaments AND Terminal Attack should be ranked modes, and World Tours should expand to cover ALL modes. That'd solve a lot of problems and still provide a familiar ranked experience for new players.
The problem is matchmaking times, otherwise they would have done it
its not a big enough game to support 2 ranked modes unfortunately
The second huge problem is that World Tours should be weekly open tournaments or esport centric tournaments with cash prizes every week. Not some weird bronze through gold mode with a cash out leaderboard

@@capolean2902 it’s a fine feature, but it’s not going to grow the game if that’s what their hoping for. Also the progression and leaderboard is completely useless because it’s just about time out in and games played, it’s not competitive or engaging.
Conclusion of what Embark said on Discord and what is written on the Steam page:
The game mode of the "Ranked" section will be replaced by a version of "Terminal Attack" with significant changes. It will be propelled to the forefront, while "Cashout Tournaments" will move to the back and appear frequently in the new "World Tour" section with its own ranking system.
My opinion:
In short, it will be difficult to enjoy the "Cashout Tournaments" mode in the same way as in the current "Ranked" section due to the fundamentally different ranking system. Moreover, we do not know what form the "World Tour" section will take. Will we be able to launch games at will every week, or will we be limited to a certain number of predefined games, this forcing us to perform at our best to achieve the best ranking?
"Cashout Tournaments" was perfect, it could certainly be improved, but it was perfect for a Ranked type game mode. "Terminal Attack" really doesn't work with The Finals for many resons. I am extremely disappointed about this information. I'm waiting for more information but I think Embark made a huge mistake.

its really hard to put into words how i feel about this change, because on one side i dont really mind the change at all. terminal attack isnt a bad game but switching the face of the finals: the mode that everyone thinks of when booting up the game to terminal attack rather than cashout feels like a simplification of the game that doesnt sit right with me. Dont get me wrong terminal attack is fantastic but idk it just feels like theyd be stifling the creativity of whats possible in the finals. cashout brought so much freedom and variety: you could approach from any angle, get to the cashout first or last or even choose to double up a cashout and make the whole server fight in one condensed space. terminal attack doesnt have that, it just feels like you have to have 1 game plan and try to approach the objective from a safe angle while keeping man advantage. it just doesnt leave enough room for you to do crazy or dumb flashy plays, it just feels im playing r6 seige 2. I also dont think all the weapons are balanced well enough for terminal attack, maybe the new map might feel good but the legacy maps? idk. my thoughts are too all over the place regarding this but all that im hoping for is that this game doesnt die because of this.
(also the more i switch between cs and this game, the less i agree with people on comparing it to cs, people should just compare it to r6 lol)
Well put. We spent 2 1/2 seasons(counting alpha and beta) balancing weapons/gadgets for Cashout. Months spent giving feedback to improve Cashout only for Embark to do a 180 and make ranked into R6S.
Let's be real, everything will need to be balanced and tuned for TA. I can't imagine that will be easy when the other core modes are so different.
This sort of adds to my frustration with this game. It lacks consistency. At first, Embarks balance approach was guns with no optic do less damage but you get more bullets and vice versa. Then season 2 rolls around, people got good and the low bullet count restriction wasn't much of a restriction so Embark decided to shake up the meta by adding weapons balanced under a different philosophy, utility. The only problem is the initial batch of weapons were intentionally made to be well rounded. This made the newer weapons sub-par, and for the most part they still are. Now we are getting a bunch of new melee weapons in season 3 and I'm not quite seeing the vision of how they will lend themselves to a 1 life to live, no healing setting.
This all feels desperate to me as if Embark is throwing stuff out hoping something sticks.
One more strangeness - the medium class loses the defib and the healing beam in TA, yet it's heavy who gets a new spec.

nearly 800 hours into the game and i never really touched TA unless I was playing with Ekazo and even then I prefer Cashout. I genuinely hope they bring ranked back for cashout in season 4 or I'm forced to give up on the game

I have 600 hours on my main account in the public build, im incredibly active on the community, but I couldnt really play the ranked mode. somehow everyone in the community treats me as a sub player because my internet is too slow to climb to diamond.

I do like the idea of world tours with the old ranked tournaments because it makes it more special.

This will be changed in about a week. I like terminal attack a lot more than most people, but theres no way its more interesting from a viewer perspective. I play the finals for batshit insane explosions and near constant play making, not to watch someone do a nade lineup for the 20th year in a row.
Hey thiix, ppl have probably already said this but the thing you mentioned with two ranks has been mentioned in patch notes with “world tour badges” so that’s a win. One thing another great finals TH-camr, gallantry made the point that giving up on cashout sets a bad precedent for abandoning unique things that we love about this game. Much love thiixy, gn
It feels like I’ve seen this situation a million times over the years of playing games.
Developers make a slight unpopular decision and gamers get all upset and then everyone accepts it and even prefers it overtime.
I could care less what some armchair game developer thinks about the changes i fully support Embark in any direction they will take the game. They created it in the first place, I hadn’t even imagined a game like this aesthetics and all and besides it’s only season 3, Apex is on season 20, R6 is on year 5 and CSGO is straight prehistoric.
We got a long ways to go
Edit: after pondering a bit the idea has set in that this, although a change I accepted at first is a horrible long lasting decision and must be changed back to Cashout and is only tolerable for this season it must be reverted
My thoughts exactly.. the game itself overall is just so different and so fun no matter the game mode.
We love this game, we have that in common. Many of us just don't like the change. It's a completely differnt pace for ranked. We'll see what happens

I hear your point, but arguably, I still think I had more fun in the beta than I have been having for a while in the finals recently. Only 3/8 of my friends who played the finals in the beta still play the game today and none of us are super thrilled with the season 3 trailer at least. I still like and have fun in the game for now, but some nights every single match is just not fun to play. If I am already slowly moving on from the game and it only changes in what I see as the wrong direction, then Embark would lose me, but hopefully gain at lease a few new players in my stead. (really don't want the finals to fail regardless).

League of Legends has Solo / Duo ranked, Flex Rank, AND TFT rank
OVERWATCH has a different rank for dps, tank, and support
APEX LEGENDS has a different rank for battle royal and arenas
CSGO has normal ranked, and wingman ranked

What I haven’t heard anyone talk about is healing beam. I dont main medium heals but I know there are a ton of those players that wouldn’t be able to play their main spec in ranked and thats sad. They need to just change cashout just a little to make it less 3rd party and more skillful. Like making you get money as the cashout is going not all at the end

I think it’s crucial to note that in the discord, it’s stated that taking Cashout out of ranked mode will allow them to make “vital improvements to the mode that would have been difficult to do when it’s locked into ranked for a season.”
I love terminal so much because i came from rainbow six and as much as i would love ranked terminal its more fair if they add both modes to ranked

I just wanted to say, i got into the finals a few weeks ago and i didn't even like shooters, i actually avoided them because they jusy looked boring but the Finals drew me in because pf how unique it was. The community and the dev team are in a tough position and i hate Terminal Attack but i get that they care about the amount of players cause this game clearly has a lot of care and passion behind it. I also wanna say that your reasoning and passion about the game is really noce to see and your not just taking a side or being purely negative. Great video and im excited to see more. (And i hate TA but ill still be playing)
I was watching the announcement on your stream and ottrs stream and when i was watching the trailer this was my reaction: 'HOLY SH*T THIS IS AMAZING' i was so exited, grinning from ear to ear.
When i saw TA as 'a' new ranked mode, i thought 'good i guess, i won't be playing it but its nice to have both'
Then i noticed ottrs reaction seemed a bit off and i knew he didn't like TA, then i thought 'wait hang on... No they wouldn't do that, no I'm being stupid Embark wouldn't do that' 5 seconds later ottr said that it was *THE* ranked mode and i deflated like a balloon.
My hype was gone instantly and my gut just told me 'oh fu*k'
I was genuinely just sitting there thinking aint no way, WHY would Embark do this.
I get that some people like TA but it's just not very THE FINALS fast paced gameshow like.
I feel it was good as a lore mode to progress the story line but not as the Main mode.
I played 14 games for the cosmetics and thats it. Never again.
I already miss open beta and early Season 1. And this is the wrong direction to take a game designed as a movement shooter.
But i find it difficult to believe its people like oscar making these decisions, I think its someone at nexon and the devs are being forced to take all the hate, its a common thing for big money hungry companies to force the devs into unpopular decisions.
Overall this could just be big waffle of bs and they could have made TA good. But even with all the changes in the world it still wont be as good as cashout in my opinion.

In my opinion I’m for either whether it’s stay the same or go to terminal style rank . But the community also needs to understand embark is trying to bring this esports stages. Yes what made the finals unique was the cash out game mode . But we have to see if embark would have 2 separate rank modes . That being said for terminal attack a Power shift (if it was to come to rank.) being it’s own rank mode and cash out being the normal rank mode .
Honestly well spoken has always adding to thati think there will be two ranks like the way COD is I don't think only one ranked and each will have its own rewards plus the trailer was just way to short to judge about everything that will be in the game so lets wait and see
I’ve been saying this since 2.6. They’ve been taking out all of the chaotic stuff that got me to playing. The movement, nerfed on launch. Nukes, gone. Dagger stepping, ruined. But them giving us variety is a step in the right direction.
Yeah there’s a lot of stuff which was really fun in the game at a casual level which I feel like was over nerfed, like as a newer player putting some C4 on a red barrel and letting it rip was probably very cool, but ofc it was broken at the time
@@THiiXY yeah, I agree completely. But personally a lot of the nerds light got were way too harsh. Especially cloak, you have things to combat it. People deciding not to use them is their fault. Stun was warranted. The dagger step was a pointless nerf and they still haven’t even addressed it. It wasn’t popular, wasn’t a problem and now the dagger lost a ton of usability. It’s better than it was immediately after 2.6 but I’d give anything to get it back to pre 2.6 values and usability. And the ranked change… like couldn’t we just get two different modes of ranked?
Am just sad I don’t know why they didn’t keep tournament ranking and when you hit the max rank on tournament you go to terminal and it would keep one active to keep ranking up and you would have different types of people playing different game mode and enjoying the game more but if they keep both rank they should have different rewards
As someone else said I think they need to merge cash out and terminal attack into one tournament. It’d be weird to call this game the finals and get rid of that game show feel. As a r6 player I’m torn because when I started playing terminal attack I felt “at home” but cash out just feels so fresh to me. Maybe round one can be: 2 games, 4 teams of 3 players, cash out (how ranked is now). Round two: 1 game, 2 teams, 6 players (merge two teams of 3), terminal attack. Final round: you now have to go against the team of 3 (that you merged with in the last round to help you reach the finals 👀) in a game of 3 vs 3 cash out to 20k. This is the best solution that I can think of. Let me know what yall think or have some suggestions! I still love this game and will support it regardless just because the devs aren’t afraid of mixing things up but also still listen to the community!

Yeah, with the reaction to this change I think they will keep Tournament as a Ranked mode option or at least bring it back later. Though the downside on that is that Tournament Que time would probably get worse.

I definitely wanted Terminal Attack as a ranked mode but absolutely did not want them to remove cashout! I think it's a step in the wrong direction but hopefully they see the community feedback on this.
I just hope the rest of the game doesn't get boring cause everything gets balanced around terminal attack
I respect the devs, but nothing about this trailer is geared for new player other than just getting the word out. Like you said they are taking a risk, and only time will tell if it was the right decision or right way of making a change.
Blaming players for not being excited about this isn't fair though. I dont want to see the finals fail, but I also don't want to see it go in a direction where I have no passion to play anymore.
It's sad to me that I have nostalgia for the beta and the game has barely been out half a year. If you don't speak up, in a year would you still recognize the game?
Gamers have a problem with thinking optomistically. As a player who's been with the game since closed beta, I think this is a welcome addition as a way to draw more players in. The ranked mode should (hopefully) draw in a more competitive playerbase with terminal attack as the mode and the world tour tournament system should still appeal to some of the aspects from the past ranked cashout mode while also maybe making it feel more like a game show. I see the best of both worlds in this scenario, like seriously, there HAS to be a good reason for why terminal attack is the new ranked game mode. But only time will tell if this is a good change since we don't know the true details of what's to come but the game needs a good playerbase in order to keep it going. And I'm happy with any change they do as long as they nerf RPG like PLEASE EMBARK PLEASEEEEEEE
If they make Terminal Attack the only ranked mode as it is right now, with no changes, it's gonna be a huge flaw. I like to play all the classes, and it's no surprise for anyone that light is the worst class by far, you can make it viable if you play some gadgets and guns, but it has a ridiculous high skill floor (compared to Medium and Heavy), and even if you are good at the game and play light as it is supposed to be played, you're just better off playing other class. That's all to say, that if light is the clearly worst class in normal modes, in terminal attack with no full regen, heals or respawns, light is completely useless. There's no point on playing it other than say sniper from far away, and even then you're leaving (once again xd) your team in a 4v5 situation. It'd be THE FINAL nail on the coffin of the game, to turn a gamemode that literally kills one of their three classes completely, the main gamemode.

A lot of people here are young. So I’ll explain some things:
Nexon the publisher for the finals was not pleased at the games performance. When companies give shareholder reports the outright say things suck, they say ‘it could do better’. You don’t get promoted unless you can deliver bad news in a way that sounds good. But when you work high up in a company you can understand what they really mean - and what they meant was the game is not doing great.
They actually aren’t sure why. Not enough marketing? They know the game is great, people like it a lot and review it well - it should sell itself. Too much competition?
Embarks CEO understands this well. He needs to draw MORE players, because he’s got a great game they will enjoy and he wants it to succeed. So he must try something NEW if he didn’t, his boss would be also confused how he made it to CEO. If something doesn’t work try something new.
Terminal Attack directly draws over Siege and CS players.
If the CEO doesn’t draw in more players, well I don’t care how much YOU love the game the game YOU love will disappear. The game you love won’t morph into Siege likely, it’s just to get players to try the game and they’ll likely enjoy the other modes even more
Personally, I think the game wasn’t marketed enough, and no big streamers play the game consistently.

Ok so i had a 1 week break from the Finals just to reset and saw now the trailer and before the video here and was like "oh sounds cool to have ranked for TA people wished for that anyways" and after the video i was like that community cant be that mad and omg i shouldnt have opened the official DC. Like how tf can u get this mad while also making some of the WORST arguments against TA beeing ranked. Why cant people just have fun while playing and adepting to changes? There was no way in the first place that they releas all 3 months a new season whith small changes like new map etc. becaus that would get boring . Its tbh smart for them to make it ranked just for the TA players to stay in the game. Nice video Thixxy btw !
It's definitely a good addition adding terminal attack but i haven't even played it once b/c its not my cup of tea but yeah adding both of them to ranked would be best not just kicking one out for the other
I think they should have players vote each round if they wanna do terminal attack or ranked kinda like how bo3 had search uplink and hard point. I think providing multiple game modes in the rank setting would shake things up and be welcomed but to completely remove one is such an odd move
i have been enjoying TA over cash out lately, and mostly use cash out to grind challenges
i also think the best solution is to keep both modes on ranked (should be doable if the player base was big enough) but if they decided against it maybe they have a good reason
It's not that they are adding terminal attack to ranked, it's that they are removing the other ranked for it.
Unranked tournament is much better than cash out, it has more of a point and really feels built around top 2 winning (and moving on).
I dont understand why remove some of these modes.

Over 800 hours according to Steam and I felt I had to leave a negative review to show my distaste for this update. I was fine with them adding terminal attack being a ranked gamemode, what I was not fine with was them completely removing cashout ranked gamemode. I thought there would be separate leaderboards and separate diamond rewards. Personally, I don't enjoy terminal attack I love cashout but unranked cashout is way to casual for me to find it enjoyable. I also don't think it's fair to casual players who will now have to deal with many competitive diamond players going to a casual gamemode just to play the gamemode they love. Instead of a rated game where there are actually stakes on the line and you're fighting people of equal skill. Personally, for me this change is drastic enough for me to quit the game. This isn't a balancing issue of a weapon/gadget dominating the meta, This is them removing a core part of their game.

I feel ranked would be balanced if they had both modes like how call of duty has Warzone and multiplayer ranked
I feel like ideally we could just have both. But personally I don’t mind the change just because me and my friend really disliked the game mode of Cashout, it’s just never felt well balanced to me personally. It’s a shame because that’s the only mode that we haven’t liked, it’ll be nice to actually try out the ranked mode
The devs said in discord that they made TA ranked for this season so that they could use the world tour tournaments to make changes to CashOut in order to turn it into a competitively viable mode for future ranked and esports. This will all be okay everyone y’all will live and it will be great.
Correct me if I’m wrong but I think that world tournament will be quite competitive. There will be ranks as well, from bronze to gold, and the best players will be rewarded with multibucks. I think the ability to earn real money to buy cosmetics will draw a lot of players to that mode that for my understanding will also be ranked.

Wait they are replacing cash out tournament with terminal attack? Are they stupid? They should have both in ranked. Halo did it in its time. Having separate ranks for separate game modes.

You should be only allowed to use two heavies, two mediums, and one light. if they allow people to use three heavies and two heal beam mediums. ranked will be cooked. let’s not forget. The amount of mind and turrets. but they did say it did some big changes to terminal tack. let’s wait and see what kind of changes they made.
Getting third partied happens to the best of us. Skill can help mitigate the damage but it is a negative side of the cashout 3x3x3x3. I do believe it happens even at the highest levels. TA being the new ranked is different, I'm sort of ok with the change, at least initially, we'll have to see how the situation evolves. I admittedly only ever played ranked to earn the diamond cosmetics and move on tho, so maybe I'm not invested enough in ranked to care about it.
About the world tour, I believe this is embark's way to keep the concept of player journey progression through badge levels (as mentioned in the ranked blog post on the website). Since they mentioned that rank and league will reflect much more the skill level than what it has been so far and might make it not so easy to level up to diamond by just grinding.

I wouldnt mind if they have both tournament and terminal attack as separate options, if they're mixed together they just play wayyyyy too differently, its almost like 2 different games.
If you take a look at games like overwatch, the fundamental gameplay stays pretty much the same across all game modes, so they can just have all the game modes in ranked.
Hopefully they make a separate rank for both tourny and terminal, definitely would be interesting to see, but also hope the queue times wont be too long
as a console player, having worse aim, worse reactions and worse movement, playing TA just felt like a less tactical R6, and i do not enjoy R6. thanks for informing on the ranked change, i would honestly prefer power shift ranked since that mode seems more aligned with the essence of the finals, which is levels and layers of selective chaos. But now i'll play less ranked than i already have. I'm not part of the discord, but luckily i dont think any new players would join the discord before playing the game.
I don’t like terminal attack, but I understand there are players that like it and that’s fine. If they added this in addition to the current ranked game mode that would be fine. But taking awake the cash out game mode for this is upsetting

If I wanted to play that kindof mode I'd play CSGO not Finals. They meesed up. This is what happens when you listen to the players too much.
I want to play the Finals, not Volarant, not CSGO not anything similar. This is the reason I've started playing the game in the first place.
To me it seems that they have changed this to 5v5 to follow all the other popular ranked games, maybe hoping it will pick the player base up a bit

I cant even remember all the points I already have against this change. As of writing this comment I haven't watched the video yet but I just want to get this one thing out:
As A D1 Support Medium in S2 I have been hit especially hard. Half of my kit is gone, the other (jumppad + zipline) is useless in TA. Generally the entire skill and everything about strategies etc we learned over 6 months is just waste now. A top 500 player could get whooped by some random new guy, because Embark basically just gave us a new game as a seasonal update. CS2 is a replacement for CSGO and had less changes than S3 is gonna have.
We now have to adjust to this "whole new game" in 5 days now. This isnt enough time to adjust. I practically have one day per class to find out what suits me best.
This weekly tournament thing will just be some in comparision boring grind, that doesnt offer any skill prestige. You just spend time and do some contracts until you've done everything. The leaderboard will just be as worthless as the community event leaderboards.

I am going to be blunt and completely honest, I don't think the ranked changes is the main detrimental issue. I play Apex a lot, poured over 2k hours in it. I wanted The Finals to be my new main fps game because I enjoy it, I enjoy it a lot more than Apex because Apex can be really garbage often time.
Despite The Finals being a more fun game, it's still not enough for me to stay. I rather play Apex. But how?? The core issue is the fact The Finals gets boring very quickly. It lacks content, weapons, events (would love to see sponsors stuff), lacks replay-ability, heck it even lacks more interesting cosmetics. The fact that I didn't come back to get that CNS AK skin says a lot, even tho I completed the battlepass and its bonus pages. I know Embark studio is a much smaller dev team, so its kinda unfair of me to say The Finals lacks content.. But it just does and Embark's got to do something about it somehow. They use an amazing engine compared to Apex's old engine. They cay maybe do some crazy things Apex can't. We can already see some crazy stuff Embarks can pull off like animated charms, custom animations, etc. There are so many stuff that can be done. Comparing The Finals to Apex, Apex brings more to the table and it makes the game a lot more attractive to play on.
I think the new ranked change can be good. The thing with Apex is the idea to become a better player and see how far you can improve. I can't stress enough how satisfying being really good at Apex is. That's what keeps me playing the game. I feel like this is what Nexon and Embark try to do. Cashout mode perhaps is not enough to give that satisfaction, so Terminal Attack may the way to go. I personally think it's a risky move but I welcome it. We'll see how it goes. They stated that a new emerald badge is coming to The Finals, perhaps it might be for the new World Tour which could be a good way to make people happy.

I just don’t understand why they would straight up change the core competitive mode from its main chaotic fast pace adaptive fun rounds which we know it for to a slower paced mode and only keep it as such. Like everyone says just have two different ranked modes it makes the most sense

I alternate between both modes and csgo. it kinda seems they are making tournament like csgo premiere mode. Which is actually more competitive. it just makes your rank a number value insted of simple ranks. They should show the number value like what csgo does to make it work. That actually sounds like it would fix it n actually exciting if you know what im talking about. They just need to execute it better.
I'm pretty sure the only reason I started playing ranked was because there was a contract about getting a win in a ranked tournament. The cosmetics, while clean and cool, weren't really a big draw to me. As long as I can continue to play Cashout, I don't really mind. I don't dislike Terminal Attack but it was really only ever a game mode I played when our group had more than 3 people that wanted to play (similar to Power Shift). What surprises me the most is that enough people liked Terminal Attack over Cashout that Terminal Attack would replace Cashout as the ranked mode. It feels weird to have a mode in an arena shooter where the intention is to be slow and methodical.
I love the finals, have 400+ hours (dear god why) but I don't care about ranked at all... honestly I am massively excited to see changes of any kind as they show the devs care and want to improve the game, and I love the new gear s3 on top
even in COD you cant just choose the mode you like most for ranked but instead it is a pool of 3 modes. and all critique aside, you cant say COD has a lack of players
Yeah, making two ranked modes is probably the easiest and best solution, I myself am not a terminal attack fan because I think the game desing and balance does not suit this game mode at all. I think the maps don't work, ttk is to long for this game mode and some gadgets are broken by concept when applied to terminal attack. And more over, before they were "the finals", new and unique, now they try to directly compete with r6, cs2 and Valorant. I have thousands of hours in those games and all of them execute the 5v5 bomb defusal game mode 10x better then the finals does it. The game would need to fundamentally change to actually make it work in terminal attack but at that point they would lose a lot of what made the finals special in the first place. They desinged everything in this game around the cashout mode and terminal attack just seems like an afterthougt.
If the terminal attack is new ranked I would add healing beam to it becose terminal attack makes healer usless

They are having both modes competitive. Through world tour tournaments and ranked. You can pick and choose what you want or do both. It's not a huge deal.

Great video, can agree with most things you said. I also think this community is pretty awful (in fact the worst I was ever part of) when it comes to changes to the game, just always unsatisfied and complaining and in a very unpleasant way.
But I dont think it was unexpected, I already said 1 month ago they'll bring TA back as the new ranked mode with changes according to feedback in S3 and they'll scrap cashout for ranked. In the end it didnt even go away and just stayed as Casual Mode, which made it even more obvious.
I don’t really like term attack for me it feels to much like any other two point attack modes in games while cash out feels different and I think having third party’s is what adds to the chaos of every match witch feels very the finals game showy and makes every match feel different every time

Yeah I get that too, I feel like it’s such a wild swing at a sudden time and of course, a lot of players myself included enjoy having a very template mode like TA because we just like the more tactical aspect to it. Changing it to swap it out though is crazy so I hope they clarify some things.

Everyone, we need to calm down our horses (me included). Lets give this update a try first since that what we signed in for in this game, new game new stuff new experiences. I know terminal attacks feels like like cs val or rainbow but its different enough to give it a shot at least. Yes having it on the spotlight so sudenly shocked everyone (me too), but we must not hurry and jump into conclusions so quickly and i feel regret on myself too on doing just that very thing.

Changing up the core, game defining gamemode to one, that can be found in nearly every other fps game is obviously going to get a LOT of people very upset. Not at all elaborating on this is a huge blunder by embark and i really wonder how they didn't see this coming.
Jeez, the backlash is so big, that people even put balance issues aside. But I honestly seriously prefer cashout over TA in ranked.

no, they didn't say that. They said that cashout tournaments would be always available to play through world tours. It's important to clarify. Cashout tournaments are not a ranked mode as of now. So, if you're worried about being unable to play the mode anymore, you can set down your pitch forks. however, if you can't stand terminal attack but still want the rank rewards, then you'll definitely be upset.

Terminal Attack just does not offer the true FINALS experience. It also isn’t like CSGO or Valorant where you can definitely clutch whilst being outnumbered. In those games the TTK is quick and you can kill an enemy with 1-2 well-placed bullets. You can just do that in the FINALS.

100% apparently they have some plans for the people that enjoy the cashout mode in a recent Discord post but still my point was that the communication originally wasn't the best, as it leaves a lot of assumptions in the air.
I’m totally fine with TA as a ranked mode, but taking away the tournaments is just some monkey paw bullshit.
I understand that two seperate ranked modes would split the small player base even more, but straight up replacing tournaments with TA feels like a mistake to me…
At the end of the day, I just want to be exited to play the game again. New progression, and less frustrating games that you stop playing after two games, whether that be from enemies steamrolling you, excessive number of snipers (or other weapons) and such.
unranked tournament is superior to cash out, such as being able to advance in second place and purpose for trying to win.
I personally don't think the finals is meant to be a one life kind of game. Though, the old ranked games where you wait 20 seconds only to get team wiped means there may actually be more combat in terminal attack compared to old ranked. Regardless, I don't ever have a desire to play terminal attack and I AM NOT carrying the charge.
The skins are honestly very meh to me.
The only thing I am excited about is the new map, looks beautiful and hopefully it plays better than syshorizon. As well as the new weapons and gadgets, as it may shake up the meta of the game that makes you want to uninstall the game.
If the sas12 shotgun doesn't get a bit of a buff we riot regardless of anything else above.
