    A lever action 22 with CB shorts is a whole lot of fun!

    Just watched this. A truly down-to-earth, "dirt road" video. I get where you're coming from. I too have a YooToob channel mostly because I want to preserve what I do for my kids, grandkids, and as of this year, two great-grands.
    I get where you're comin from too as far as the rifle and ammo are concerned. I also have a Henry H001, and I shoot CCI CB .22 Shorts through it. More often, though, I shoot CCI Quiet-22 rounds through it. The Q-22s are also rated at 710 fps, but have a 40gr projectile and the case length is .22lr.
    I raise rabbits for meat, and since I live in the city, I'll use either the CB 22 Shorts or the Quiet-22s to dispatch bunnies. On occasion I've also had to dispatch varmints, mostly rats or possums. Again, either round will work, though the Q-22s pack more punch than the CB Shorts. Plus the CB Shorts are hard to find these days, and even when you do, they are more expensive than the Quiet-22s.

    I love these little rounds. I bought 2,000 rounds pre pandemic. It is the only round I shoot of my Marlin 39a Mountie which looks similar to your Henry and a Mossberg 46b with a scope. They are quite enough to not disturb the wildlife around you. The only down side to them is they are prone to ricochet. I don't think the projectile is going fast enough to breakup or catastrophically deform upon impact.

    • @JBDRLSOARK
      @JBDRLSOARK  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I didn’t think about the possibility or ricochet but you make a good point. I won’t be shooting anymore steel with em. I appreciate your insight. Thanks for watching

      @jakeoutdoors9600 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@JBDRLSOARK Steel probably, but I notice them bouncing off the ground. I will shoot at a something on the ground, (like a pop can) seeing the impact on the ground in the form of dirt splash. Immediately after I have heard the bullet clipping brush as it went through the woods behind my target. Nothing is back there, its a very safe direction. It is just something I want to be mindful of.

      Yep the Henry is as AMERICAN as mom’s apple pie baseball and sitting on a country porch in the evening watching the sunset drinking lemonade. But as much as I love the 22 my preferred round in the Henry is a 17 HMR AND A 41 magnum.

    • @jakeoutdoors9600
      @jakeoutdoors9600 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@cajun5957 I have never shot a 17 or a 41 Mag. I wanted a 17 wsm for a while but that ammo is pricing me out. I have heard many people say good things about the 41 mag. I would like one in a three screw Ruger. If I buy another Henry it will be in a large handgun caliber or 45-70. I wish they made it in 500 mag to go with my 500 pistol.

    I have a Henry 001 Classic and 2 Ruger Wranglers Love filling them with 22 shorts. And plinking in the back yard. I have the CCI shorts The CB short lead round nose 29 grain 710 fps and CCI copper-plated hollow points 27 grain 1105 fps. Found some Winchester Super X copper plated round nose low noise . 1095 fps. The Henry and the Wranglers shoot all of them very well.

      Just for pure enjoyment the 22 is hard to beat. It’s great fun to shoot and not to hard on the pocketbook. I shoot a lot of it. Thanks for watching

    We like shooting those shorts out of our NAA, the ammo much easier recoil on our old hands...we own a couple of Henry's, but we usually just shoot cheap bulk out of them...shorts are pure plain fun...
