    Sometimes the best self defense is simply not to draw attention to yourself. There are people out there who use the paranoid sideway glance assuming that they are prepared when in reality they are seeking invitation for a fight that they are most likely gonna lose. Sometimes the best martial art is to chill out!

    Hi Matt, it's really great to see you. I was gone all day assisting my family members, getting my older sister packed and finally on her way to Illinois with her son. Her physical condition requires someone to be present with her almost constantly. Hope to see you tomorrow. God bless. Doug.

    Thanks for the video!
    I've been under the weather a bit, but I'm catching up. I had to repair a window in my shop where I train. When the temperature is in the 30's, letting in too much air is not good for training.

    Great technique. The problem I would have is raising my aggression to a level to use that on another person. I feel they would need to hurt me first, which of course is risky.

    Stick weapons need to look ordinary when you carry them walking around a city. How do you carry one of these short sticks around looking innocuous? Does it start as a as part of a longer stick and is disassembled quickly to make one (or two) short stick(s) when the threat appears? How do you stop the opponent catching the stick and pulling it away from you?

    How long should a short stick be?

    • @pasquinilli
      @pasquinilli  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      18” is the length of the Tanbo that I am using but any short length works. The length of your forearm is also a good measure.

    1-1/8" tropical hardwood is even better. Heavier weight, tighter grip for people with smaller hands. 👍🏽
    That length was also preferred by GM Angel Cabales (Serrada Eskrima).

    • @pasquinilli
      @pasquinilli  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks! I discovered guanacaste wood in Costa Rica. So amazing for strength and weight. I would love to find a source for some hard tropical wood. GM Cabales the goat!

    That is a great self defense tool, too easy to go to jail with knives or a gun. The stick does not have the same bad reputation.
