    I'm in. Thank you from a 74 yr old man that needs this today. Had combat Hapkido training years ago, but don't have the dexterity I once had or strength and stamina. So this is my go to defense system, or will be, from now on. Best to you.

    Master Cassidy
    Absolutely awesome presentation. I learned more from your 1st & 2nd of 4 you- tube videos than I did from 3yrs of previous u-tube study.
    Your demonstrations and explanations are outstanding.
    However reading some of the comments below suggests you have a few confirmed knuckle- heads for viewers. How they could get your teaching so bassackwards suggests to me that their Moms did WAY too much acid at Woodstock.
    In these trying time's anything can happen at any moment.
    To be Situationally Unaware and unprepared to defend one's self at all times is courting disaster.
    When I go to the Throne Room my Cane is never farther away than the toilet paper.
    Thank you sooo much for this gift and please...keep up the great work.

    When I was a boy my brothers and I would stick fight using old rake handles mostly because they were made of ash and would break easy so I've probably used every technique on this video at one time or other. Now the groin technique is very effective as a get away technique but if you have too it is a good idea to learn the high guard sword technique as well and strike at the back of the neck. Using both together is only for extreme situations where escape is not easily done.

    • @WillNeverforgetmypasswordagain
      @WillNeverforgetmypasswordagain 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The groin technique is only effective if your brother didn't secretly put on his athletic cup and he's a faster runner than you. Been there, done that, got my butt handed to me.

    😊👍 having your leg ripped out of the socket is a rough way to get your start with the cane. I'm an old guy and will have hip surgery at the VA in Jan.( I'm 82 W/60 yrs+ in Asian Martial Arts so highly interested in what you're teaching)
    I want to keep mind and body moving forward to whatever degree possible. (My namesake Uncle made it to 90...If I could get another 8 yrs that would be great.

    • @rooom333
      @rooom333 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Sir, I read here that you are having a hip replacement surgery in January. Is it possibly because of a new hip joint? Maybe I have a good idea. Usually people who get a hip replacement have urine crystals in the joint which cause pain. Doctors say they can't do anything. Only a new hip.
      That's not quite right. There is something that can dissolve these crystals without surgery. Dmso. Dimethyl sulphoxide. It's not something new, it's something good old that's extracted from trees. It holds the capillaries together. In the past, every doctor knew about DMSO. But then the pharmaceutical industry stopped selling DMSO. But many medicines and operations did. It is legal, very cheap and really without side effects. You can drink it, apply it to your skin and even do infusions. DMSO has a property that is unique. It repairs everything that has to do with tissue, muscles, bones. And it does it very very quickly. You should feel much better in a few days. Please read up on it and you will never forget it. I give you my word.
      I don't want to advertise or anything like that, I just want to help.
      God bless us all. Greetings from Germany.

    The Chinese fighting style "Poison Hand" maps the body nerve centers. Striking a nerve in the arm immobilizes the arm. Canes are ideal. A lanyard attached to the wrist will assist possession or potential as a weapon.

    The best part of a tight hook with a point, is that after a strong strike to the groin, your hook point is in position to enter the opponent’s exit orifice, with only 1 or 2 layers of cloth between him and your medical device. Tug and lift at the same time to get a reaction 😂

    I have one of those canes similar to that. While it's true that a crook top cane is classified as a medical device, don't the modifications such as the sharpened crook end nullify the medical device classification?
    Also the "sharks tooth" modification, how is that explained if for instance I'm going through a TSA checkpoint at the airport?
    I'm not trying to derail the whole thing but before I go and spend in excess of $100 for a cane I want to know if its definitely not going to "bite me on the ass" later.
    Thank you

    What a great video!!!
    I just retired on August 1 I’m 59 years old. I have a back injury from the navy.
    I’ve been carrying a straight walking stick. That’s about 5 foot long when I’m going on my walks. I would definitely like one of these Valhalla hammer. Where do you get one? Can you get them custom length I need one 35 inches long.
    I’m still agile enough to handle myself, but I feel myself and my strength starting to fade a little bit. Working on that also.
    I’m planning on a trip to Southeast Asia. The Philippines is my first destination then up to Thailand when walking I would definitely like to have one of these sticks for self-defense against humans and dogs. Another thing I found is when cars are coming at me I’m walking in their lane towards them if I have my walking stick and wave it around a couple times when they’re about 100 yards away from me for about five seconds they always steer wide around me. I’m also wearing a orange job site work vest
    And in the vest pockets, I have pepper spray . But I won’t be able to bring that with me to Southeast Asia. I may be able to buy it there, but I can’t fly with it.
    I should be able to fly with a cane no problem . 👍
    And if anybody acts up on the airplane, I can knock their teeth out with the hook . lol
    Hook them from behind on the throat and pulled him over backwards . I usually carry a sap made out of two brand new socks and a roll of quarters one sock inside of the other dropped quarters inside choke up on it. It’s definitely an attention getter! You wouldn’t want to hit someone with a full swing with the quarters. Unless you’re trying to kill them. It’s a nasty weapon and there’s nothing they can say about putting quarters in the end of two crew socks.
    I definitely like this Valhalla cane with the texturing on it. this is a very educational video. Thank you.

    Very good. Excellent. I hav a couple of Cane Maser canes with those groves in them, now I know what they are for.
    I'm also a tennis player and my forehand cane strike is the same as my forehand tennis stroke. My back hand one handed cane strike, similar to my one handed tennis back hand (switch the grip) , the after the follow through, use a town handed top to bottom forehand stroke using the crooked end, I like to use from a stance where the cane is on the ground like you need it for knee walking problems.

      "What about getting swarmed and attacked form behind"
      Being outnumbered and attacked by surprise or from a bad angle is a losing proposition unless there's some special factor that gives you a huge advantage. There's no martial art you're going to learn that makes that situation OK. If you're in that situation, good luck, because you already messed up big.

      The only option that will help in that kind of situation would be if you could get into a narrow corridor or doorway, which would limit the direction of attack and your opponents wouldn't be able to reach you all at once. The "hot gates" principle. But running away would probably be the smarter solution.

    Smart, if lengthy disclaimer at the start. KOC! _Keep On Caning!) Did you study the Victorian Era's _Stick/Cane Fighting?_🌟
    That said. 5:40 You really don't want to impale anyone or thing, with your cane. Legal ramifications aside, stabbing a person has a high potential to cause loss of full control of your cane, and a goodly chance of maiming for life, or killing.
    It has been my experience, that _Hitting Pressure and Nerve Points,_ is far better, in disabling your opponent.

    Excellent training presentation, excellent video. Probably not a better self defense "system" around. But as with anything those who choose to carry need to stay current with practicing. Same as anything else. If not percentages go way up that it won't help you but may possibly be taken and used against you.
    How many thousands of people bought pepper spray, then sprayed a load into the wind only for it to land on their own face.
    I also would have difficulty getting into a routine of carrying it with me regularly. Perhaps I would be able to adapt if I actually physically needed the support. Hope that doesn't happen anytime soon. But, who knows what may happen tomorrow ?

    • @hcassidy1
      @hcassidy1  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good points! People don’t tend to look at you as a victim if you carry a cane and look like you know how to use it. I personally would carry one only if I thought I might need it for defense. Working with the cane also keeps you aware of using other personal items in self defense like a pen or a belt, both of which I usually have on me.

    23:57 Terrible wrong footwork..... 🙄
    I'm gonna stop commenting now - don't have time to analyze everything and i don't want to but i feel i aught to add that a lot of these *_ideas_* are sound and i appreciate concepts like striking first, e.g. the groin flick strike to get a 'hollowed out' reaction, as he describes it - making ready for a follow up attack or retreat.
    I'm sure in the whole channel there must be a lot of good concepts but i would always look to practical *_tested_* methods (like army combat manual for stick fighting) and always do drills on a dummy or something hard so you know what it feels like and can do it reflexively.
    This man, Hugh, _sounds_ like he knows a lot about fighting I just don't think he's particularly good at teaching self defense in this exact instance. I have seen videos where they put on full padded outfits and helmets so you can try stuff in training and that ppl can see if they can cope with a big man coming at them and so on.. THIS would be a better way to teach/train.

    At the risk of being labeled an agitator, why are most cane instructions and cane forms practiced by someone with two good legs, taking unhindered steps, with unrestricted balance? I would give more credence to combat cane techniques when demonstrated by someone who needs a cane for mobility. It appears to me that when you can't dodge, slip, or hop away from a threat, or your back is incapable of reinforcing a solid thrust, many standard cane techniques look impractical........

      You might be ready for a hand gun my friend. But even with a handgun as your weapon of last resort having and using the Cane as an initial self defense tool might demonstrate to a judge or jury that you did indeed resort to your firearm only after all other attempts to dissuade your attacker from trying to harm you had been tried and failed.

    couple corrections on the cane there...casnemasters does not "hand carve every one of there canes" that's not accurate. They're dramatically over priced garbage. please don't waste your money on cane masters canes...I did and I deeply regret it. There are a great many Less expensive and superior options out there. do your homework. Cane Masters crap craftsmanship and their terrible customer service was a joke.....ok enough about them the only thing you need to remember about this video is the sentence "that's when I came up with combat cane system" it's his own stack of bullshit he's selling you.(and i'm not against him or his efforts to make money from his own experience, just don't read too far into it)...yes anything you put in your hands CAN be a weapon, anything that can strike or block a strike can be used for self defense....stop following the hyped up bullshit. If you're doing this for fitness and fun or endurance then awesome. please continue and I wish you all the best. If you're watching this thinking you're going to learn the deadly art form of cane-fu....just stop...it's not a practical style nothing in the real world works or goes like it does in the very very specific studio/dojo like setting. bad guys areen't gunna wait for you to get into position or raise your cane ods are if you're attacked you'll never see it coming and it'll be over before you have time to think. the average person just does not have the combat sense or "battlefield awareness" that people like soldiers have. but again....enjoly the video and enjoy training for fitness or physical conditioning or any other reason you wish. I hope your day is grand :D

      George, I am 74 yrs. I started BJJ at 61 and just received my black belt a few months back. I thought I could fight at 61 and won way more real fights than I lost until I put on a gi and got my ass handed to me for the first 6 months straight. There were times I wanted to quit...come home beat up and bruised. I can say definitively that until you actually train in something and you arrive at some level of proficiency, the only thing you are positively qualified to say is 'this doesn't work for ME'. If you are 97 years old, you might want to look into firearms but, if you have nothing but a cane at your disposal and you've trained with it, you can't call it BS. Well...yes you can call it BS but you're still wrong. I know folks my age and older who go to the Y and practice Tai Chi. Some of them are a LOT older than I am and they are not just ambulatory, they are extremely fit and sing its praises to anyone who will listen. There's real benefits to physical training outside of self defense. Is Tai Chi an effective form of self defense? Could be depending on the situation. Wouldn't be my choice but I'm not calling it BS. Might it someday be the only thing I'm able to do? Might training with a cane, someday be the only thing I can do? I'd be interested in your take on how this cane thing is BS...compared to what? I have some trees to climb and take down. I'll await your reply sir.
