    Thanks Matt. If worried about kubotan/yawara carry, or confiscation- I've found a 2 aa or 2 aaa mini maglite can suffice, approx 6" long aluminum.

    Great lesson Sensei. I had a black plastic kubaton years ago . Very effective on pressure points , nerve pinches : I was also alot younger and could move alot faster .. I also really appreciate your Cristian values .

    Hopefully this world will indeed eventually become a warmer place.
    I still prefer my 25 years old Mini Maglite as a kubotan for training and taking with me outside for self-defense.
    It was great live teaching as always, thanks. Stay safe too!

      It will. Everything moves in one direction until it goes too far then swings back the other way. It’s this constant swinging that creates life. When times feel dark, it’s good to take a stand for your values and watch what you let into your consciousness. Thank you!

    Hi Matt. Sorry i missed class. My sister, her husband and i were together for lunch and i just got home. Due to the injuries of her ribs, elbow and a crushed vertabrae she sustained in a bad fall in December, she is finally able to get out. She still needs assistance in getting in and out of vehicles, some walking issues and standing /sitting. I have been practicing with my SOG Sidewinder II folding knife the past few days, striking the heavy bag, using it like a kubaton or yawara. It is a thick, heavy knife, that i purchased in the 1980's and i always carried it on my duty belt. The times i used it in confrontations, the target areas that seemed to have the most effect were shoulder joints, wrists for compliance, side of the knees and especially the ribs. In my opinion using a good strong folder for self defense, if a kubaton or yawara are not available, it is a great viable option for protection. But also using it as a cutting implement, as i did to cut a malfunctioning vehicle lap belt to release the driver. Great class my friend.. Stay safe. Doug.

      @@pasquinilli Hi Matt, unfortunately they are no longer manufactured. They are difficult to locate on line but can be done i believe. I have started carrying it again when i don't carry my "CCW". A blade as you know isn't a preferred means of self defense, but definitely has its place and uses. I will try to catch you on line. Doug.

    Matt, you can use a debit / credit card in similar way as a yawara.
    In Filipino arts the yawara is called dulo dulo.
    The sinawali movements work well with yawara/carabao dulo dulo.

    From dad to dad: I personally just my opinion here…would NOT call 911 for a beaten druggie man on the streets. As you saw, they ran away because they’re doing drugs. Some of these “homeless” drugged want you to call 911 to 1: see how you react and 2: to see how expensive your smartphone looks, so they can try to take it from you. Or 3: to distract you from their friends who will rob you from behind.
    I stay away from 3rd party encounters often. Just my 2 cents

    Have your keys connected with a clip or small carabiner so you can remove them. Don't fight with your keys, you will need them. Keep them safe and separate from the weapon.

    What's your take on pepper spray??

    • @pasquinilli
      @pasquinilli  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Hi. I think it can be effective so long as you make sure it isn’t expired and try to get one with a strong and long spray so you can keep an attacker as far away as possible. Also you need to expect that you will get some of the spray on yourself and it can burn your eyes, nose, throat, etc… Be prepared to fight or run even when you also have been sprayed. It doesn’t kill you but it is very uncomfortable.

      Jeffrey as a retired cop, i can honestly say, i can't remember how many times i asked God for help when responding to calls. Not just situations when there was a strong possibility when officers could be hurt, but when assisting with medical intervention. Example, performing CPR, and so exhausted i didn't think i could continue. So many times i thank God that he was there to help me go on. God bless.

    Matt, emjoy your videos, very informative. But why, did you take your children into a hell hole like that? What would happen to your kids, if, you were taken out?? As a member if the 101st Airborne division, ranger trained, sniper, etc. And a grandfather, I am always extremely aware of my surroundings, but, and very much more so when with lived ones, and I personally will aire on the side of safety for my loved ones. Just my personal opinion, Gary J.
