I go back and forth between this and Baying Of The Hounds being Opeth’s “best” song. They’re right next to each other on the same album so it’s impossible to choose!
Yeah I agree with you. It’s such a great album but these two songs are so full of really cool parts, riffs, heavy guitars, melodies and everything in between.
Haunted nights for halcyon days Can't sleep to the scraping of his voice Nature's way struck grief in me And I became a ghost in sickness Willingly guided into heresy Beneath the surface, stark emptiness And you'd pity my conviction Whereas I thought of myself as a leader You'd cling to your pleasant hope It is twisted fascination While I'd ruin the obstacles into despair And I'm praising death Lost love of the heart In a holocaust scene memory Decrepit body wearing transparent skin Inside the smoke of failure Wept for solace and submit to faith In his shadow I'm choking Yet flourishing Master A delusion made me stronger Yet I'm draped in pale withering flesh I sacrificed more than I had And left my woes beneath the mire
Thank you! So this is a Fender Stratocaster Plus which is a special model that was only made jn 1987 and maybe a little later. My model is the 1987 one and this nut is what they were using at the time. It's really good! There's a metal bar inside that the strings roll on so it's super smooth!
Hey great cover, it seems to me that you are double tracking the rythm guitar, am I hearing this right? For Opeth songs I found that backing off the gain and add multiple tracking is the way to go.
So those are the stock pickups since this guitar was made in 1987 and I believe they're the Lace Sensor gold ones. Any Lace Sensor pickups are great and I wouldn't change those out for any other pickups!
It sound AWESOME! One of my favorites from Ghost Reveries 🔥 BTW, I did full instumental covers of the whole Still Life album, so I'd love if u check them out
Hell yeah dude. Your Opeth covers are the best I've seen. Keep it up! I'd love to see Harlequin Forest!
Thank you! .. working on it ;)
@@geirisk8 Nice!!
I made it, have you seen? :)
Awesome! I love that evil riff after the intro
Haha yeah and this album is just full of really great riffs and melodies!
This is absolutely fantastic! Your playing is super clean and the tone immaculate!
Great tone and amazing playing. Well done!!
Thank you very much!!
You did an amazing job man
Thank you very much!!
Awesome as usual.
Thank you very much!

Fantastic cover, man! Just wanted to let you know of a little video glitch at 4:12
Hah yeah I know, I just can't be bothered to fix it. If I can somehow replace the video without ruining the post, I'll do it!

WOOOOP WOOOOP!
Amazing
The guitar though.. unplugged
good
Thank you!!
Cover is pure gold. Mind if I "borrowed" the instrumentals again to growl and annoy my neighbours while recording vocals?
Absolutely, go wild!
Thanks
Awesome, please do!
I wish you would do Baying Of The Hounds. Amazing covers though.
nice job man!!
can I use it in a vocal cover?
Absolutely, go wild!
Ásgeir Þrastarson thanks a lot 😍😍
Unplugged guitar 🎸
This is absolutely fantastic. I have to ask, what kind of nut is that on your strat?!

Fucking A! Hope you do The Drapery Falls in the future.
Thank you! It's a possibility 😜
Hey great cover, it seems to me that you are double tracking the rythm guitar, am I hearing this right?
For Opeth songs I found that backing off the gain and add multiple tracking is the way to go.
Yeah two tracks, left and right. I'm not using much gain at all :)
Fantastic. Which pickups do You use in that guitar?
So those are the stock pickups since this guitar was made in 1987 and I believe they're the Lace Sensor gold ones. Any Lace Sensor pickups are great and I wouldn't change those out for any other pickups!
Wasn't Ghost Reveries recorded in Open D tuning ? Nice cover by the way :)
Not the whole album. Songs had different tunings. Two songs have a variation on that open D tuning.
@@geirisk8what's the tuning I must know
axe fx again?
I didn't have it at this time so I was either using my Bias Amp Head or NeuralDSP Nolly. Can't remember which!

Such a good song!
Yes, one of my favourites by them!
@@InfinityPotato97 the whole album is really good to be honest!
@@geirisk8 Yeah, together with Watershed. I heard albums post-Watershed but I just can't get into them, not beacuse of that there aren't growls.
@@InfinityPotato97 I totally agree, there's something I just haven't been able to get fully into..
teach me the second solo
MASTER !
Haha I'd gladly do it if I could :D
