- Jon Spencer has been playing blues punk for decades and with legends from R.L. Burnside through Beck. After a hiatus through much of the aughts, JSBX returned with a vengeance with live shows and last year's excellent LP, Meat + Bone. They played their usual blistering set of old and new greats and Jon joined us for a nice little chat.

The low sounds they get without a bass. Amazing. Russel is a criminally underrated drummer!! They almost broke into comfortable cash, never did, and have just continued to get better and better. real ones. Their Bandcamp rules too

My buddy and I are huge jsbx fans. When we get together we let all the jsbx ad-libs fly. So you know when I went to see them in the early 00s Hotel Congress in Tucson, I was ready. I was all "HANGIN OUT AT THE BUS STATION!" "GET A WHIF OF MY PANTLEG!" "THE BLUES IS NUMBER ONE!" and on and on. After a while Jon shot me long glare and I knew it was time to pipe down.
What the UK needs a blast of .REAL Music....

Saw them at Trammps NYC back in the mid 90s and they kicked all of our asses. The place was packed with hot half naked sweaty girls and guys dancing and having a blast. Those were the days...

Either the audience don't realize that they are in the presence of the greatest live Rock n Roll band of the last 30 years OR they have lost the ability to react due to too much exposure to digital technology or....what? Man! they missed a sterling opportunity to have a full-on high time! There's no "security" or stage barrier or owt! At least there are other videos of JSBX where the crowd DO get with it! Feel bit sorry for Jon here,putting the sweat and faced with this uptight public! Doh!

I've been a fan since 1993, but both John and the audience have become uncles.
As in "old" ...? (I'm Norwegian, new slang for me if that's what it is). Love these dudes myself, seen'ed plenty, and saw Jon with the Hitmakers twice in 2019. As incredible as ever on stage!
