👍👍👍👍👍👍🐦 We loved that video Dave and Logan! We thought aye aye..... Who's filming our favourite adventurers? What a brilliant gizmo! Fab video! Thank You!😊
An enjoyable walk in an area of Dorset with which I’m not familiar. The drone footage added the experience of accompanying you along the footpath. Thanks Dave
Another great video, Dave. I spotted the drone shots right away and even identified the particular drone you have before you introduced it (I don't have one myself). It added interest, and as you say, can save you a lot of setting up of tripod shots and walking backwards and forwards. Despite the lesser definition, I don't think that really matters and I hope you'll go on using it.
Thank you Jim. I think that I will use it going in future video walks (it doesn't take up too much room in my bag). The "360 degree orbit" and "Follow" are the modes I am most likely to use as well as "Custom" (as you can actually use that with your phone & get sweeping shots of views).
Great video Dave. Yes this is a lovely village. I used to live in the Farnham farmhouse b&b just past the top of the village. Family still lived there until 2023. My dad is still in the village and I’m often out there and in the pub. Lovely walk, I’ll have to get out & do it sometime. My stepbrother now runs the farm. Grandparents are in the church graveyard.
Hi Dave, If you had turned right, along the track into the forest, rather than heading to the earthworks on Woodcuts common. You would have come across "Scrubbity Barrows". I think there are nine barrows and last year they had started clearing some of the undergrowth so they are a bit more visible. I saw them on the OS map, and with such a great name, had to make a "pilgrimage". Lovely area and a really nice pub. My daughters were both working nearby so it became a favourite watering spot last summer. Chettle, just up the road is another really interesting village. The village (all of it) has been owned and still is, by the same family for the last four hundred years. There's quite a story about how the great house was sold and all the family drama, (moral being, never get involved with lawyers).
Liked the video as usual Dave - nice part of the world. I liked the aerial shots, initially I thought you had taken on a camera operator with a drone. Clever bit of kit and I didn’t really notice any poor image quality. Hope you use it some more, that ‘orbit’ facility was excellent. I guess it saves you walking back and forth to the arrival and departure scenes. 👍👍👍
Thanks for the feedback. I think that I will be using the "Hover" from time to time - once I get the hang of operation it (which in fact is quite easy!).
Some nice birdsong in there, Mr Logan, well mixed in and still keeping yer mate Dave to your well crafted script. Congrats on your new pilot stripes, let's see what those paws can do. Thank you both.
What an absolutely incredible walk Dave. I Cannot believe what you have been able to show us. Its almost mindboggling. That fabulous Appledore Cottage and The Museum Inn. I greatly appreciate your information regarding Augustus Pitt Rivers and of course William Joyce. That signal box i thought was quite ingenious. The other properties were just magnificent. The drone was super. A friend of mine actually has one that is not too dissimiliar to yours. They really are an asset, and as you say, are quite simple to use. Thanks to You, and of course super Logan.
You had me scratching my head wondering just how you were achieving those elevated shots. What an ingenious piece of equipment. The clarity is just as good as the other system you use. My grandparents died in about 1980, heaven knows what they would have made of all this technology.
Every shade of green on that walk and lots of arrow straight defined paths. I think Logan has a new favourite crisp manufacturer!! Thanks for taking us along with you.
Thanks Dave, for this interesting walk, and tech exhibit, which gives hope to Yvonne here who failed two attempts to send an email just before joining you on this walk. What a range of historical features this week and thatch like we have never seen before. Cheers to you and Logan.🎉
Oh dear, now you’ve demonstrated your new toy I just have to get one myself & incur the wrath of my other half who hates gadgets! I somehow think she will be utterly unconvinced by my assertion that it will enhance our enjoyment of the countryside. I’ll just blame you for putting the idea in my head! Lovely video again.
Farnham really is a delightful village Dave, and the Museum provides a comfortable watering hole. There used to be an eccentric (my description, he seemed that way to me) old chap running/owning it, but you always got a warm welcome. I had noticed from Butcombe's website that they now had ownership. The drone offers something different, and like you said the video quality doesn't match the rest, but for earthworks and tumuli, hilltops etc, it's an ideal compromise. I know it's a new "toy" but please don't be tempted to overuse it.
Thanks. Yes, I think it will only get used a couple of times for a walk - I was really only testing it in this video. The "orbit" shot will come in quite useful.
Lovely walk. We tried to emulate the same walk , we didn’t know where you started from. Please for us that aren’t good with maps give us a reference point ie walk starts by the house with the hares….
I always put a clearer current Ordnance Survey map as one of the pictures in the relevant post for the walk on the "Dave's Countryside walks" Facebook page (the start point shows as the pub). After wandering through the village, (about 9 mins into the video) I took the footpath leading South East from Farnham to Minchington. Thanks for watching.
love your walk today i down at bland forum next week for a week's holiday going to do a walk alongside the river Stour any good places to look out for many Dave may meet you one day as we are away in Dorset and New forest whit my camera out keep safe
I hope that you have good weather for your visit. A good walk (involving a steep climb but great views) not too far from Blandford is at Hod Hill. th-cam.com/video/3bJwnmFTKog/w-d-xo.html or Spetisbury th-cam.com/video/tMuQJGRn0rM/w-d-xo.html A good walk that includes a stretch of the Stour that is a little bit further on from Blandford is th-cam.com/video/ncu8ZJXcjnk/w-d-xo.html Hope that helps.
They are shortly bringing out an upgraded model that films in 4K, has longer battery life & better image stabilization so it might be worth holding on to see what that looks like? I just wish that they were a little bit cheaper than they are!
I only had it near to me whilst I was explaining how it worked and so the wireless microphone was picking up a noise. In normal use, the Hoverair at least 6 metres away and doesn't sound too noisy.
👍👍👍👍👍👍🐦 We loved that video Dave and Logan!
We thought aye aye..... Who's filming our favourite adventurers? What a brilliant gizmo!
Fab video! Thank You!😊
Thank you Susan.
Another cracking walk, and I love the new toy. What fun!
Thank you. It looks like it is fairly easy to operate!
Another lovely video Dave, complimented with the drone shots, even our cat enjoyed following Logan from the air. Cheers again.
Thank you!

Thank you Judith. :)
Wow! What a wonderful video and the drone shots are really cool!👍
Thank you Marco!
Great summer walk - the drone will be a great asset for the videos.
Thank you. I think the "360 degree / orbit" setting will be useful - especially from the top of a hill!
Amazing walk in the town and countryside wonderful trails and beautiful houses
Thanks Keith. I don't think that I have seen so many thatched cottages in one village street!

A very interesting walk and info about the area. Thank you for sharing

Thank you for sharing your personal memories & family connections with the village. Such a pretty place to live!

Thank you for the information - both "Scrubbity Barrows" and Chettle look like good ideas for future walks / explorations! Thanks for watching.

I want twenty of those Hover-air-thingies, dress them up as giant mosquitoes and make them follow me as a run through the village, screaming! 😄
Well that would certainly be a sight!
Some nice birdsong in there, Mr Logan, well mixed in and still keeping yer mate Dave to your well crafted script.
Congrats on your new pilot stripes, let's see what those paws can do.

Thank you!
What a lovely little church that is. Really like those windows, special. Beautiful. Lovely that gentle landscape as well.
Such a pretty church and indeed a delightful village.
I like your new toy. Logan didn't look too impressed though!
I was amazed at how quickly Logan got used to it!

Thank you. The "mini" drone does show a different perspective on views!
Good afternoon Dave when I saw Farnham I was born in Farnham but the one in Surrey great content very enjoyable to watch lovely church
Thank you Craig.
luv the old manors cottages and stories along the footpaths, Hover is a good gadget to be hands free for those extra angles and views
Yes, I think I will have some fun with that "Hover"!
You had me scratching my head wondering just how you were achieving those elevated shots. What an ingenious piece of equipment. The clarity is just as good as the other system you use. My grandparents died in about 1980, heaven knows what they would have made of all this technology.
Thanks Mark. The wonders of technology!
Every shade of green on that walk and lots of arrow straight defined paths. I think Logan has a new favourite crisp manufacturer!! Thanks for taking us along with you.
Thanks Jean. Logan doesn't seem to be that fussy about the make of crisps these days - a sign of getting old!
Farnham means meadow with ferns. I can find 5 in England: Dorset, Essex, Surrey, Suffolk, North Yorkshire.
It seems to be a common name for a settlement, for sure!
Thanks Dave, for this interesting walk, and tech exhibit, which gives hope to Yvonne here who failed two attempts to send an email just before joining you on this walk. What a range of historical features this week and thatch like we have never seen before. Cheers to you and Logan.🎉
Some of those thatched houses really were quite stunning!
Beautiful walk, lush greens.
Thank you Catherine.

I somehow think she will be utterly unconvinced by my assertion that it will enhance our enjoyment of the countryside. I’ll just blame you for putting the idea in my head! Lovely video again.
Thank you Stephen. It is not quite as good as a "proper" drone but it is very light, not very big & easy to use!
Farnham really is a delightful village Dave, and the Museum provides a comfortable watering hole. @DaveFord thank you we give it a go🤞
What a brilliant little toy - I might get one for my channel! Help my footage considerably.
They are shortly bringing out an upgraded model that films in 4K, has longer battery life & better image stabilization so it might be worth holding on to see what that looks like? I just wish that they were a little bit cheaper than they are!
@@DaveFord Thanks Dave I will keep my eyes peeled.
Hello Dave. That .little toy of yours is rather noisy. The image looked fine, but the screaming sound would be rather off-putting.
I only had it near to me whilst I was explaining how it worked and so the wireless microphone was picking up a noise. In normal use, the Hoverair at least 6 metres away and doesn't sound too noisy.
