Good, honest review. Here's a tip: if you print photos on this printer, try the Matte paper setting even if you are printing on glossy paper. You may find it much better.
I can’t find that paper setting or the mirror printing setting & my prints are super dull / I am new to this so hopefully it’ll get better
@@Miss_Tika1 You'll find it in Printing Preferences, but why do you need mirror printing ? Are you doing sublimation ?
@@axonis2306 yes I’m trying sublimation but it looks as if I’m missing many of the print preferences
@@Miss_Tika1 Try right-clicking on the printer icon, you may find the preferences there. I've just checked and there's a mirror option too. Also, since you are using pigmented inks for sublimation, be sure to print a full color page twice a week to prevent nozzles from clogging.

The printer was a bit complicated to hook up th-cam.com/users/postUgkxciSwynMJ7PnUvvx11rewiu-yFBkZTl53 but it does the job very efficiently. I like the ink wells versus the ink cartages that cost an arm and a leg. It prints quickly and the quality is excellent. It shuts off when not in use, so you have to remember to turn it on. Overall, it exceeds my expectations. I'll update my review in a couple of months.

Years ago i bought a Epson Eco Tank 4550 and paid $600. I got a set of bottles with it as you did with yours. I see comments going back 8 months so you will have certainly experienced the convenience and lower cost of ink with your Eco Tank. So far with my 4550 I have printed over 20,000 color pages with my printer. At this time I am looking to get a replacement as I just got one of those pesky msgs that a major mechanism in my printer is "end of service life". Found your video on the 2800 which model was rated well. Nice video. Best wishes.

My brother purchased the Epson et_2800 printer & we love it
Great video man! Just ordered this printer to replace my older EcoTank printer. By the way, the ink levels did go down during setup but it didn't "use" all that ink. A lot of the ink is still in the lines from the tanks to the print head. (The pumps are really slow to make sure no bubbles are introduced... That's the reason it takes forever!) You'll be pleasantly surprised on how much you can print before needing to buy more ink. It'll be years... seriously!

We didn’t use it for an extended period of time so the print head got pretty “gunked up”. I could have replaced it but we caught a really good deal on the 2800.
Crazy thing is we still had about a 1/4 tank of ink left, 5 years later!! I never bought ink once!
It may not be years for me. I have over 8,000 files of my artwork that span many years and all are ridiculously black and bright. Still, it's better than buying all these HP cartridges.

Read the manual sheet mate. It was clearly mentioned that it’ll use up a little extra link and from then on the consecutive ink will not consume much ink. I think the delay of printing could be because of the detailing.. I’ve purchased an ET-2850. I’m happy to wait instead of spending $100 for a piece of plastic ink cartridge that lasts for 50 to 100 sheets with not so better quality.
Just bought this printer this weekend to go into my classroom. Hope it does well with heavy use!
Can you review the File Format it can import to your Computer.
Ive had the ET-2800 17 hours. that's how long its taken to get it to work. used to write for MSDOS. Its in the bin.
Does it have a slot to print 4x6? How long does it take to print a picture?

Love your picture in picture. Cracked me up. My boyfriend just bought us one and I print my artwork a lot so your unboxing tutorial is helping me a lot even before the printer arrives. @@ellambyrne Print quality is excellent but you have to clean the heads and align it a lot if you print a lot like I've been doing. I already had to order more ink and it is in use. Also. mine had a DVD to set it up so you don't have to use it online.

Have you figured out how to open the top? I accidentally put the blue in the black and can’t open it to get to hoses
How many lbs was the Cardstock you used though? The basic one I use is 65lb card stocks and supposedly this one can only take up to 27lbs?
I just bought this printer to take with us in our RV. Am I going to run into difficulty using different internet providers for wifi when we travel? Will it be a pain to change things or will I have to change things at all?
How's it holding up after a year? My 13-year-old Epson just kicked the bucket and I am in the same boat, fed up with cartridges erroring and costing a bundle. I hear these things have a ink catching sponge in the back that, when saturated, the printer basically just dies?
How do you feel about this a year later? I'm looking for something to print sewing patterns and service manuals.

I really liked your review thanks. I had a Epson Artisan 730 for years I was considering Epson 2800 but no way. Too slow for the price compared to my old printer. I like the ink tank idea though.
How do you get this to print double sided?

That's what happens when you let Epson do firmware updates and you use non Epson cartridges. All the companies are finding ways to make you use their super high priced retail cartridges. These Ecotank printers are the only way to go for home use. You have to pay the piper in wait time. I read somewhere the bottles replace something like 50-90 cartidges depending on which printer you are replacing. I think these are replacing an old $100 printer and have a $300 - $400 price now to make up the difference. They still get their money.

Does it have a paper tray or can you only feed paper at the back? And does it have automatic double side printing?
Can only feed through rear in back. It prints automatic double sided. I just purchased a 2850 model last week.
I wish I’d seen this before I opened my box 2 days ago - I had it since November - just sitting but I would’ve preferred store credit
Any idea how to keep the ecotanks from drying out and clogging up if not used for an extended amount of time? Can the ink containers be removed and the remainder flushed with something like rubbing alcohol?
I googled that question and there was a lot of information out there including using the printer at least once a week

I can only print images with the epson photo tool + but when it comes to text documents I don't know what to do
I had that problem, from my cellphone. But when I print from my laptop, it works fine. Something about the software of the App not yet written for Word.

Yes with Sublimation ink.
Does anyone else have this printer? How do I fix the paper holder to hold more than 20 pages at a time and how do I get it to stop pulling the paper in sideways and printing crooked? I am having to hold the paper up right to make sure it’s not crooked. It’s definitely an upgrade from my previous printer based on the ink alone, but this is extremely annoying.
These EcoTank printers have a chip counter and after a certain number of prints they throw up a message "Waste Tank full, printer end of life reached". And even if you empty it, you can't reset the chip, and you can send it in to Epson for service but it costs more than a new printer.
Some of the other models they've found a way around this. What about this one?

My XP-400 just went down. I tried cleaning, and put in new cartridges, and it won't print anymore. So, I'm thinking 2803 ecotank.

slow printing = less breakdowns???
The perk about this low cost slow printer is the scanner - if you need to (once in a while) - you can squeeze out of this baby a 5,760 x 1,440 DPI/PPI scan. The higher costing Epson printers don't give you that. If you know that you don't print out much (except if you're doing remote work for your company) - this one is perfect. I already have a Fujitsu scan snap - so why do I need to throw away $$$ on another automatic stacked document feeder option? TIP - if you're going for long stretches (months) without printing, make it a habit of printing out a test sheet once a month to keep the print heads moist - or buy a cleaning kit. Also, some of you may be happy - for quite a long time - with this printer. If in the future you have to install a new operating system, and re-install the drivers for this machine, the vendor may no longer offer the drivers on their site to download - to force you to buy a more current model. So, do not throw away the CD that comes with this.
I like this printer but I want one that hides the paper waiting to be used. It looks like this one stores them in the back and they will get dirty and possibly rolled up some. Can you conform this? Thanks and great review.
True. You can always remove the paper when not in use. I decided to do this rather than pay an xtra $100 for a front loading tray.
When asked if you wanted to install using the app, I wish you said no just to see how it would be done. Not everyone has a smartphone
My biggest concern is the life expectancy of these printers. Read a number of comments that after two years or so they can poop out for various reasons. Well, I probably spend $250 in ink cartridges in two years for my el cheapo Hp that cost $40 13 years ago and still cranks it out at about the same speed as this. It would be a wash at best without the laborious setup. Anyone had one of these more than 2 years with no issues?

I don't need to print very often, maybe a couple pages a month, so this ink may last me forever. lol
That's basically what I do but I have a Canon inkjet printer and even when I replace the cartridges and print one time I'll turn it back on 2 months later and it tells me it is out of ink. My printer just eats the ink. I assume these types of printers reviewed here wouldn't do that. That's what I need.
If I had to choose between slow and quality; I’ll put up with slow.
Sign of time, inflation at it’s best, yeah they gave you ink bottles that looks worth a while, but they cheap out on everything else!

I hate it. Rear paper feed and leaked black ink in as well as a unrecoverable paper jam when first using it.

My ET-2800 is totally unreliable. Every time I try to print something, it goes into error.
