Royal Caribbean Blog Post I mentioned in this video here: www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/2024/04/22/i-went-royal-caribbeans-private-island-celebrity-cruise-ship-heres-what-surprised-me?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAR3pcjEvtSjP0yTk6FCoZCJRYVX4YifdBlTt3_kZ9BRH-Mlr8vyWtej_9S8_aem_AU6bqgq37soY6_CUbMV32nlbwBNxT6za6ERDzLNKohST4thgKG-bU61r7zAes-d67K-wQ__zEvu2AYwcgewVYT4W
As soon as celebrity announced stops at Coco Cay I booked them after an iver 10 year hiatus with a bad experience on celebrity and a current climate of rccl towards families. I am cautiously optimistic this move will be "perfect". I cruise with my 80 year old mom and while we love rccl it seems like celebrity is more her speed. So Coco cay will give me a chance to blow off steam so to speak and have a " good time" at least one day while being able to see my mom have an amazing cruise. It's perfect ! I can't wait. Coco cay is out favorite private Island. We have already been to Hideaway Beach on rccl and love it. So celebrity going to Coco Cay will allow my 80 year old mom to have great service on the cruise and me to enjoy myself as well! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
I really don't understand their logic. At the very least, they should have known this would very much upset the locals. This is not Celebrity's first time in Hawaii.
Celebrity wants a captive audience going to Coco Cay. Despite what Ms Laura claims, I don’t think most of their customers want Coco Cay as a stop. Greedy is what comes to mind. Why do I get the feeling that Celebrity has lost its fastball?
It seems like Celebrity is all in on Coco Cay. They cancelled european cruises and repositioned some of their ships to do non stop trips to this place. A lot of these are shorter cruises. I am assuming to make things seem more affordable for most people. They are most definitely following RCI's footsteps.
NO NO NO NO NO. This is an absolute DISGRACE!!!! Celebrity cruises needs to be heavily fined. The Na Pali Coast is a sacred place and they have NO BUSINESS BEING ANYWHERE NEAR THAT CLOSE! NO NO NO NO NO.
As both a frequent visitor to Kauai and a Celebrity cruiser, I understand that the Edge was too shallow. This represents bad ship control and could have let to a pretty nasty disaster. However, I find it hard to agree with all the "sky is falling" response to this issue. Go ahead, fine the captain and Celebrity, but this is not a reason to keep Celebrity from visiting the wonderful island of Kauai. Which leads to the Coco Cay news. I like Celebrity over other RCI ships because they are not one of the big mega-party lines. Coco Cay is a great option for those ships. Having Celebrity stop there is just un-necessary merging to the different lines.
@@tomsundayThe better question according to reports is why was the Captain making a joke about it in the theater that night... One of two things need to happen...Celebrity gets banned this season or the Captain needs to be suspended. Or even both.
Not PONO! don't let that PILAU Captain's attitude visit our islands again! all of that sand that that cruise ship kicked up in those shallow waters, buried and will kill the coral reefs. Respect the aina or stay away!!

Thank you for sharing your point of view! I am glad you are able to enjoy Coco Cay with your Mom!
Shades of the Concordia! I would think the captain should receive more than just a reprimand.

@@tomsunday it's the same colonist attitude from the Captain that stole Hawaii from Queen Liliʻuokalani back in 1893, they don't care
Celebrity claims to be environmentally conscious but this seems not to be the case
I am a bit suprised about this move. This is not their first season in Hawaii. They should know that the community would be upset about this.
The captain knows the rules and regulations, they should be accountable for their actions and his staff that did not question his directions.
I am very suprised the Captain decided to get this close to the island. He should of realized this would upset the locals. I just don't get it.
@tomsunday even when I was active duty, we had protocols and rules of where and what we could do, for the captain be so lazy... amazing

There is nothing sacred anymore. It's all about greed.
I thought the boundary limit is 1000 yards, not feet...
I think the news mentioned 3000 feet. Which is exactly 1000 yards, as you mentioned in your comment.

You are spot on and raise several insightful points about both stories featured in this video. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.
To be honest...Celebrity should be banned this season from operating to the Hawaiian Islands.
I am very surprised to be honest. They should know that the communtiy would be very upset about this. Why would they get this close to the island?

Respect the land and the people it feeds. Very well said. I hope this does not cause any permament damage to the coral reefs.
