Wow. Great pictures great stories. Feels like a long gone time. Suspect anyone who grew up in that era in a large family that wasn't overly dysfunctional can relate to a lot of it. Community, family, religion, service. Especially related to the concept of taking in the local "strays" ... kids who may not have been lucky enough to grow up in such a warm cocoon. You can count on it. Those kids never forget the kindness and the rescue. Probably changed their lives forever.
