- Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, an iconic figure in US cultural and political history, was more than just her style and marriages. She was a great American first lady who carefully managed her public image. Jackie's success as the first lady made her a global celebrity, appearing on magazine covers and sought after for her images. Despite her public success, Jackie also faced personal suffering, particularly after the assassinations of her husband, President John F. Kennedy, and her brother-in-law, Bobby Kennedy.
Jackie's younger sister, Lee Radziwill, played a supportive role in her life, especially during her time as the first lady. The relationship between the sisters was complicated, with fierce competition and Lee often feeling overshadowed by Jackie's accomplishments. "

Jacqueline, Kennedy, and Princess Diana were the most photographed women in history. These two women brought the world to stand still.
I was 12 years old when she became First Lady and she has always been my role model to this day. 62 years later. Mrs. Kennedy’s refinement and cultural awareness, inspired me to grow up to be a beautiful young lady.
I am grateful to be able to write that around 1980 when I was assistant banquet manager in a famous restaurant in the theater I got to ask Jackie Kennedy if I could pour her some wine. I had heard that she wouldn't speak to people who didn't have the right to speak to her as she wanted to live her life in Manhattan as a private individual. But I was staff so I knew I could approach her. She was beyond beautiful; there was something about her that was ethereal, regal and almost other worldly -- I was happy for all her happinesses and sad for all her sadness -- such an incredible woman!
Such a wonderful story, yet you mentioned nothing of her response to you. I suppose that's a memory you now wish to keep private . . . just one brief moment in time shared between you and the iconic Ms. Jackie Onassis.🍷🍾
@@AlmondJoie Jackie's response to me was polite but minimal and that's why I didn't elaborate on it. I was "staff" to most of these elegant famous people (in fine dining in Manhattan I met many famous people, Jackie just being one of them.)

I remember all of that history and events of Jack and Jackies life. I still remember the day Jack was shot and where I was. One never forgets things like that. They are imbedded in your member forever. Thanks for the memories.

Ich war 3,5 Jahre alt u meine Mutter erklärte mir ganz genau , was das bedeutet, dass Präsident Kennedy ermordet wurde u dass er noch im Sommer 1963 bei uns in Berlin gewesen war.

The First Lady to become a fashion icon, talented and admired by many. Knew how to cope with dignity.
Sadly missed x
What dignity? She become the mistress of Robert Kennedy shortly after. You people got brainwashed by a dress. If there is a thing she loved the most that is money and status and she lived accordingly. A talented actress.
How she handled such a horrific tragedy with calmness and dignity. She had to have suffered from PTSD.
Definitely PTSD.
PTSD? oh sure. her pink dress meant something that day.
PTSD ist eine verstörende Reaktion des Gehirn auf schwere Erlebnisse, va wenn die Flashbacks immer wieder kommen.
May she Rest in Peace.

Jackie was a jewel whose background was perfect for being First Lady. I was a child of 9 when the tragic events of Dallas occurred and I'll never forget the graceful and dignified way she acted during the whole funeral. She literally led us in our grief and was only 33 when it occurred. It was a deep wound that took a long time to heal. I followed her over the years and was truly sad at her early and untimely death. She had every right to be buried next to John at Arlington and indeed belonged there. She was a great figure in American history besides her husband Jack. May they both RIP.
me too...and for your info, i was born in the same year that Caroline was...1957.
She's not buried next to him? That's wrong.
Hp
I was close to turning 9 when J.F.K. was assassinated. My parents were pleased as were many other adults at that time. Why is this truth not discussed? I was not happy about it but many adults were; mostly Republicans I suppose and some other people in the world.
I was 9, as well. In the 4th grade. I remember my teacher crying. I had never heard the word “assassinated” before. I had no idea what it meant until one of the other kids in my class told me. I didn’t think such a thing was possible. The world was never the same after that horrific afternoon. Sixty years ago today. 💔
She was so classy. She carried herself with class and dignity ❤❤❤. She was beautiful 😊
❤ thank you for the upload of this wonderful video essay.

I love how this documentary tells Lee’s story also and her many attempts at escaping her sister’s shadow. And nothing sums up Lee's place in the world like the title of this documentary. Jackie: A Tale of Two Sisters.
Poor Lee. I hope she gets her flowers from somebody someday before she leaves us.
Lee Bouvier Radziwill (among other names) died February 15, 2019. Too late for flowers.
I was celebrating my 21st birthday when the news broke
When Kennedy was running for president his father's past as a pro nazi was completely suppressed. Jackie was a huge advantage to the Kennedys 🎉
@@clairevancleave1508 Just Lee's luck.

Excellent commentary. Thank you for posting this!
Why compare sisters to each other? “Once again she left her sister in shade” sounded so wrong.
What you said is all facts. Had these women left to their own devices, there wouldn't have been any strife between them that they couldn't overcome. Unfortunately, the media is vicious.
Jacqueline much more famous than Lee. She stole Ari Onassis from her Sister.
Jacqueline had a monstrous ego and spent Millions of Onassis Money! She got a 20 Million Settlement from Christina Onassis! A very spoiled woman!
Teddy Kennedy and NYC Attorneys worked the Settlement ( hired by Jacqueline)!
But that's how lee felt, sadly.
She was so elegant and classy❤

@@lashonearl6548 I might add she didn't have any family money of her own like the Kennedy's did, she dressed fashionably on taxpayers money. That's why she married Onassis for his money and security. She was a wannabe aristocrat, just because you barely speak French doesn't mean you're Paresian French.
@@57113 She had money when Kennedy died - and much more when Onassis died. Jackie Kennedy was fluent in French at an early age. She was beloved by the French and Charles de Gaulle was warm towards her. Because of her fluency in French and knowledge of the culture, people showed in crowds to see her. Jacqueline loved big money, that is why she married Ari Onassis!
@@kdtennis1I believe she was looking for money, no doubt. Jack's father even paid her. But I have to say the way she carried herself, etc, there was women and men who thought she hung the moon. Women wanted to be her. Jackie and lady Diana were the classiest women and thought more of than any woman ever. People loved them and loved Jackie more.
Jackie was brought up to be a social climber & gold digger since her own family had fallen on hard times. Lee was terribly jealous of her older sister. Then Jackie stole Lee’s sugar daddy… Onassis. This was a family bent on making the best of their names. Money was everything

Jacqueline had status as a Former US First Lady! She was not beautiful, but had class and wore stunning and stylish clothes!
too young to deal with what she had to deal with.. tragic life, but then, this is part of American history!
My brother's friend saw her in-person when he was a student at Harvard years ago when she was visiting Caroline. He described her as "arresting." I like how the designer Valentino described her. He said "she was not a classic beauty, but she was extremely striking. Meeting her was like touching the sky with your finger."
Jackie Onassis: "That man is terrible" (referring to MLK for being an adulterer).
JFK: Hold my back brace...
Yeah, but MLK was a preacher man. The FBI files on him will cause a commotion when they're finally released. He treated women like dogs , just like the Kennedy men did. Some say worse.
Onassis rivaled Kennedy, also.
Lmao exactly
Jackie O was a beautiful and intelligent woman.❤❤❤ Who contributed to the Kennedy Legacy.
Jacqueline threw herself at Ari Onassis due to his wealth!
Her style is gorgeous because of the 60's era. If she lived in 80's she would wear horrible makeup, shoulder padded oversized jackets and frizzy hair. Fashion style of the 60's is very flattering to women.
Puff ball skirts, rah rah skirts, massive collars on women's dresses (Princess Di used to wear them when William was a baby).
But in the 1980s, she did no such thing, while she could have.
In the early 80s when William was very young she was pictured wearing dresses with massive collars. Sarah Ferguson was pictured in a puff ball skirt.@@meeeka

If JFK was captivated by Jackie's beauty and intelligence, why did he have so many affairs?
With men of power it's a given.

Sex addictions in powerful men have absolutely nothing to do with the wife’s beauty, kindness, gifts or lack of same. They find a place to put it. People are objects.
JFK had a first wife, who his paid off for a divorce and silence, so he could marry Jackie. An arranged marriage and the fact he was a pig.

Jackie wanted to be more European, notibly French than American. I have dual citizenship France and Canadian. It was Jack Kennedy I was more interested in. As American presidential wives Elenor Rosservet that captured my attention later on. She said she 2as her husband's legs. I have a great deal of respect fot her. Jackie was not French she spoke a bit of French on her trip with President Kennedy, but as a Canadian and very young & returned to France she was thought of by the French people although liked as still American. She brought some style to the Whitehouse and not much more. However, she suffered and did honor to her husband at his funeral. But as first lady did nothing for all Americans, just those at the top of the ladder. 44:20
Jackie was having an AFFAIR with Greek tycoon Aristotle Onassis while still married to JFK. Give me a fu….. break.

OMG that paparazzi was way too obsessed with her in an unhealthy way 🤦♀️

I was in 5th grade when Kennedy was assisinated. I always considered her my role model even though a kid doesn't really understand that. It is a crying shame that the kids nowadays do not have good role models from which to learn. Thank goodness Lee was such a good sister, especially during the trying times. Paparazzi should be dearmed with all public figures carrying mace so if those bas.tards get too close, aim for their face. Another example is Princess Diana and the horror she faced. Beautiful documentary, thank you.
Jackie a "good role model"- what a joke! Can you point to one contribution she made to make your life better?! You're certainly welcomed to recommend Michelle Obama/Hillary/Katie as additional phoney role models for future inane leftists who seriously believe that the higher up a person's social status is, the more admirable he/she is... I bet you trust those characters more than you trust your own neighbors for the simple reason that you know nothing about them! Here is a clue for you to use on your possible, but not probable growing up journey: those "Paparazzi" that you find so objectionable, are actually the ones who feed you the fairy tales you subscribe to regarding your "role model" celebrities (really moronic/socially ambitious materialists in the best case scenario, or degenerate/criminal in the worst), whose pictures accompany some made up story by the bribed lying media you consume mindlessly.... Happy grazing & of course boostering, courtesy of those who lose sleep over your wellbeing....hahaha!

Even on Wikipedia which too many people depend on as reality, there is no mention of the FACT that Anthony Stanislaw Albert Radziwill worked in Chase bank's executive offices in Manhattan around 1980. I know he did! My friend's wife trained him! I don't have the exact year but once his training was done and his identity was revealed to a Victoria Wroblewski at that time, I've never read anything about Anthony and Chase bank.
I knew Victoria very well. I still have conversations with her husband quite often. Victoria or "Vickie" as her friends call her is married and she no longer carries the name of "Wroblewski". There are so many important omissions about people that are significant. The most important thing for me is Vickie's descriptions of him at the time that he was a nice, very stylishly dressed gentlemen and well liked.
