I was always an hourglass shape, until peri menopause. Then, without gaining weight, my waist thickened from a 10” difference to my shoulders and hips, to a 5” difference, so frustrating. I’m not quite a rectangle, sort of a thick-middle hourglass.
If I need a belt to give shape to a dress, etc., I use one that matches the dress, rather than a contrasting one. I don’t want to draw attention to the fact that my waist isn’t slender. I do tuck in all my tops, wearing them out makes legs look short and stumpy.
