Alcohol inks work very well for resin. I suppose they can be added in directly. Personally I print models in clear resin and tint it afterwards to the desired color. Works like a charm, and you can even get some very nice, smooth blends and control opacity and overall intensity with some acetone.
Mentioned before but I also use alcohol inks to dye UV resin. They work great. I add a little blue and a tiny bit of green mixed to make water effects for streams and puddles. UV resin also works great to fill small gaps on models.
Oh wow. I wish I knew about this when I was doing my graveyard diorama, that would have looked way better than the glue stick I used. Lol. Awesome video! Thanks 😊
I alreday use a resin printer to make my custom minis. However, I can see the mass uses this has and def will be using some transparent resins I have to use this technique for water and blood-spray from now on.
Really cool! Thanks for creating a video on such a creative technique! I think this could be a really cool thing to use in tandem with a thermoplastic mold of an existing object too.
Awesome video! (and love the furry helper there) I don't have any of these materials but the video gives me great inspiration for how to specialize some minis!
You don't need to use seran wrap for the "power up" style technique. You can use thicker resin and apply directly to the model and then draw it out with toothpicks while slowly curing it
I need to take more advantage of this type of resin, your shield gave me the itch of finding the right mini to give it a Nanoha-style magic shield (think the rune circle on your channel intro as the spell effect)
Yeah, i don't think painting them on will be the right way, i suspect there will be some modeling and/or casting involved, will have to figure it out, but now i have the itch and it's probably not going away until i do it no matter how long it takes, i now wanna see something like this: i.imgur.com/uxCoXhc.mp4
If you will apply your UV resin to something called a "Hot glue pad" (it's made of silicone, is about 6"×5" and available in the 'hot glue' section of your favorite craft store, most likely), you can leave the resin piece on it as long as you like and it just peels right off whenever... Same if you use a "transparency sheet" (available from most "office supplies stores" for too much money, imho, or else amazon for a decent price)... Both are "bendable" for curved effects, and way better if you plan on using UV a lot. Otherwise, if your piece is a "one of," don't worry about it. Or, if you need to wrap it around part of your mini... Fwiw 🖒☺
That's what I came to the comments to say! It's inherently non-stick, and UV resin specifically won't stick to it, much better than the Saran wrap for this
While no immediate plans to use this technique, something to file away in the 'when the opportunity presents itself' file (and commenting to pacify the almighty algorithm)
Lyla (and others) be careful using these UV lamps ... UV is extremely dangerous for the skin. So don't ever expose your sking to these lamps; please wear proper gloves or use a different method to cure the resin.

Praise 'ye olde algorithm!
The folks who cast resin dice, like Rybonator, usually use alcohol-based inks for coloring resin
I figured it was something like that.
Well this made me spend money... excellent work.
My favorite way to color these is with GW washes. They have many colors, as you know, to use.
Especially the new tesseract glow
Amazing technique & ideas.
Very cool. A material and technique I haven't seen before. Thanks!
I have had success with neon sharpies on clear plastic and it reacts to UV light!!!
That’s a really creative idea!
Have you ever created spell effects? How did you do it?
Super glue. It was kinda lame though...
Yes, I do with uv resin😁
that glowing orb effect was really cool
I climbed down the rabbit hole of table top crafting last year and I have so fucking much to discover and try...😮
The effects on the staff looked brilliant. Great video.
Happy cat sounds to finish the video. Awesome. :)
Love happy cats!

I really really need to try this!! Thanks so much Lyla
Oh this could look amazing as lighting from a power sword! I have to try it!
Thumbs up for the awesome techniques and for the kitty sounds in the background. :)

I figured that was my problem! And I have definitely stuck things together with us resin.
Very kool, I use resin pigment to color my resin.

Better late than never!?

Ooooo!
I wonder how resin would work on a silpat baking mat?
This is class ,really creative use of the material!
That is very kind!
Nice video! I used silicone baking mat and regular resin :D Also works
I’m too impatient for normal resin 😝
Very understandable :P
Some good ideas. Definitely supposed to use non-aqueous inks with resins, but this has really made me think. Thanks Lyla.
So cool! This looks like a really approachable project too. Gonna have to get me some resin!
Sushi and Equinox (our tabby and black kitty) are insanely loud as they eat too.
SUSHI. I wanted to name Cardamom sushi, but we decided that sushi and Mochi are too close.
Great stuff friend 👏 👍
Perfect timing, I currently have a mini on my desk which would be perfect for this effect. Great video :)
Thank you!
Cool concept lyla
Remember to like and comment to appease the almighty algorithm 😁👍🏼
Interesting effect!

I tried painting on Tiny runes to do something like that but was not successful 😞 I’m sure there are other options, but Painting was the wrong one.

Oh! Green stuff world sells tiny golden runes!
Worth a try definitely!
Amazing
wonder if you could use this for sci fi force fields or energy shields or is it better to just use plastics sheets for that?
Check this out! instagram.com/p/CMSksiwnTqk/
To get the ink to mix with resin, use alcohol inks.
ive heard alcohol inks interact better with resin than the water based ones.
Inspiring!

I might try parchment paper, It probably wont stick as much
Parchment paper would probably be great if you want a smooth surface!

I think it depends, I liked the wrinkle texture, and it would be a lot harder to mold!
Hello can you reshape resin..with youre hands i want to do this...with my marvel legends power effcts please answer
Not UV resin
@@LylaMev ok thanks...so much maybe i will purchase a self cure resin

Cool. #NotificationSquad
You are my favorite type of person.
MEOW! 🤣🤣🤣
