- Rob and Ember have wanted to climb the Butte Camp route on Mt. St Helens for ages! Rob and I decided to turn this into a bikepacking adventure and invite Paul who we met out a rainy day ride back in February.
This would be Pauls first climb and second bikepacking trip with us. We had great weather on the first two days and a wet ride home. Overall the trip was a lot of fun!
At the start of this one, I was thinking everyone needs a friend like Rob. By the end I realized it is not a friend like Rob, but a friendship like Rob and Chris share.
Thanks for letting us share your journey.
I'm super lucky to have a friendship like the one I have with Parker! It's hard to find a good adventure partner! Thanks for watching!
One of the only channels I get stoked to see new vids from and immediately watch. Good stuff Chris.
Means a lot Mike! Thank you so much!
No one loves a victory beer quite like Rob! he’s the best! Great vid boys.
That man loves a victory beer! Thanks for watching.
Recently found your videos and have been binge watching them. Hope you have more in the future as they are a great watch and inspire me to get out!
I do look forward to seeing your videos pop up in the feed. Yet another great adventure Chris, Rob and Paul! Nice change of pace throwing in St. Helens summit too. Thanks for taking the time and making the effort.
Thank you!!
I'm a looong time bike rider & tourer. These videos are fantastic. Well done!👏 I live in the PNW and you've inspired some trips!
YAY. 🎶🎵 the boys are back in town🎵🎶. Really enjoy your adventures. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you!! ❤️
Always enjoy your videos be safe my friend 😁
Living in WA it’d be so cool to run into these guys in the wild. You guys are so inspiring and funny.
Yeah maybe one day! Where do you live in WA? Im trying to find some routes further up north by the North Cascades!
@@pnwbikepacking I live in Everett. About 30 minutes north of Seattle. As for routes, maybe mountain loop highway. Theres a bunch of backpacking and old logging roads there. Like monte Cristo to glacier basin. That highway in general turns gravel and loops up to darrington. Then there’s highway 20. That goes past mt baker. That has a few old logging roads that could probably be biked. One leads to a hot spring. Then there’s mt si rd that leads off to I don’t know where. I’ve been down there once to go to a hot spring, but the road goes further than that. Or if you’d like to try something on the peninsula, there’s Madison creek falls trail. Super pretty, kind of creepy, very cool, well maintained. Only have down 10 miles of it, but I think the whole trail is 42(?). And I think it turns single track at some point.
Hope that helps 😁
Chris! You gotta come get knackered in Florida. You just gotta!
Always look forward to your videos. What a great way to spend the weekend. Look forward to more of your adventures. Cheers
Thanks Jon!
I echo Mike’s comment. I devoured all of your videos in less than a week when I found your channel a couple months ago. Now I check my subscriptions daily looking for new videos. Keep up the amazing work y’all!!!
Another great one! And another bucket list item!
Another great Rob & Chris adventure with a new compatriot. A big thanks to Mrs. Rob for keeping you guys in line, or at least as much as she could.
Hey Jim,
Ember and I have been wanting to do that route for years but we wanted to do it when there’s still snow on the mountain and right when the road opens. We nailed the timing and it was fun to turn it into a kinda bikepacking trip. She went up early on Friday and got us a camp site. It was also fun to take Paul on his first mountain climb.
Cheers!
🍻
Awesome to see you back Wilson and Co! 🤙🏼🤙🏼👍
Happy surprise to see a new video on one of my favourite channels. Nice looking adventure and great job on the video. You guys never disappoint!
What a fun trip! That hike was awesome! Keep up the great videos!!
Great stuff, y’all! Thanks again for a fun episode.
Great new addition to the crew. Awesome adventure once again.
Another great adventure. Thanks for sharing. Said it before...love the narration and, of course, the back and forth jabs. Haha
Thanks Michael!! ❤️
Great video...quite the adventure!!!!
Well crap Chris and Rob! I must have missed your text messages about the new video! 😂
I always look forward to your shenanigans. Thanks again for the great content!
Oh and hey Paul……nice bike! I ride the same great setup!
Yeah, I pinged you a couple times about it and never heard back.
Glad you enjoyed all the hard work I put into filming and editing this one!
I’m going to stop now….
Hahahaha.
Cheers Fred!
🍻
@@RobParker8 Hahaha! Great work Rob!
I do what I can….not much.
One heck of an adventure!
Wow, those were some spectacular views! Not sure I could ever make such a climb anymore so thanks for sharing! Hello to Rob and Ember too, glad to see everyone is doing well!
Hello to you, Julie! I’ve been up that mt many times, and the views still blow me away! Hope you and the family are having a good summer!
Regarding riding in the rain. I find it's much easier to embrace the suck with dry feet so I always bring waterproof socks
So cool! I have 2 ascent of St. Helens prior to the eruption. Need to go back and see what it's like now.
Hey Rob, Chris Potter here. Your brother’s over here crying about his hamstring. 😂
Hahahaha!
What up Chris?!?
I can’t believe an elite athlete like my brother would be complaining about his hamstrings.
He crushed me on our last bike ride!
3:59 thanks for the number in metric system as requested 😅 nice video as usual! Cheers 🍻
I remembered!!!! I was so proud of myself for remember! Thanks for watching 🙌
Thanks Chris!!!
i did a similar route from my door in dt vancouver up to the plains of abraham last summer. my favorite area to ride to for sure!
Dude we are neighbors! I love the MSH area, so much amazing stuff to do around there!
I work at the bike shop in dt, if you’re ever in need swing on by! Thanks for the great video adventures! I’m always recommending your channel when people ask for local routes.
So good Chris, seriously.
I feel like I can totally relate to feeling of happiness to return to simple and straightforward climbs on the big mountains. You've given me a bit of summit fever!
How did you like the AeroBars? I don't think I've seen that setup on your bike yet.
👏👏👏🇧🇷
Would love to check out the route if you happen to have it handy!
What kind of tent is that at 4:39? Thanks for for the great content, Helens looks unreal.
LOVE YOUR VIDEOS!!! Trying to do a better job doing story telling and voice over I need to work on that thanks for this
Rad brah
Thanks Brah!!
You boys go do the Gumjuwac Skedaddle sometime? East of Hood?
I was just in this area a few weeks ago riding a route called the Mount Hood Dirty Reacharound JUST Before the Boulder fire broke out. It looks like I literally rode right past Gumjuwac Skedaddle while I was on Gunsight Ridge! I ended up taking the Oak Ridge Trail further down along Surveyors ridge to get back to HWY 35. Next time im planning something in that area ill see if I can link up Gumuwac!
@@pnwbikepacking 🤣👍
Its been a few months since your last vid, Hope you’re working on a new one!
Is there a route link?
Aero tri MTB, eh Chris???😂
Cool vide, nicely done. Thanks for sharing, sir 🍻
Why does Paul seem like he was burdened to be there?
Old dude should be wherein a helmet by the way
I approve this message!
Cant believe you passed up falls creek trail
Less than a minute and the weather is mentioned 3 times. Plus one complaint bout being soaked and wet.
Try Arizona...but then it's too hot.
Perfection starts with ability, and that you have...enjoy it.
Weather is weather, and you're in Warshington dudes.
I had to find something to complain about 😅 .
3 months since the last video ???? whats the problem here ???? besides rob pushing you off your bike every ride ! we need content , slackers ! we need adventure , slackers ! we need to be amused , slackers. your the only 2 people in oregon left with a sense of humor ! a wise man once said , lets get moving wilson ! ok so it was just rob that said that but you get the idea . your oregons only hope !!!!
Hey Ron, it’s Parker.
I’m sitting in a warm hotel room at the Grand Canyon reading your comment and LMAO!
Wilson has been training for the past couple months for the AZT and has now been on it for 15 days. He’s about 25 miles away from us.
It’s getting dark and sub freezing temps.
I’m hoping he gets here tonight.
We are going to hike the GC together and I’m going to walk back and get the car and go get him at the AZ-UT border. I’m sure there is a video coming when he gets back to PDX but right now my friend is suffering big time!
Thanks for watching and your hilarious comments!
Cheers! 🍻
With weather like that, maybe he needs a beer - cicle 🍺🍦 ? Cuz nobody likes warm beer , except the Irish ? And they are like the French and nobody really likes them. But they do make good fries 🍟 ! So bring Wilson some fries 🍟, he will love the thought. He won't understand it, but he will love it ❤😊
This is not bike packing having someone bringing your gear to you.
I've ridden from Seattle to Mt S H, with climbing gear, spending 23 days, in February.
Alone.
Yeah, we talked about how none of it counts at the end. I should consider changing the misleading title of the video. Good job on your trip.
