Idid the same thing to three of my fav Sezane jumpers too. Apparently its called felting when it goes like that. I did the soak in fabric softener, also in Woolite but the one thing that worked was actually Aussie Miracle Mask conditioner - I soaked each for like 12hrs, then when it was in the water with even more conditioner I began teasing the fibres apart. I was able to get mine back to a wearable size and it has continued to relax. Mine was in same condition as your pink one. It happens when the spin cycle is too fast and agitated as well as the temperature of the water a bit warmer than it should be
I love your new sweaters! You suit that soft ballerina look so much. I know that handwashing can sometimes feel like a chore, but I choose to look at it as a slow-living, meditative practice. A drop of lavender essential oil added to the wash water adds to the experience!
Omg I cried 🤭 I only wash wool and cashmere with shampoo or hair mask (tons of it) . Just let for some hours in the water, always in cold water and never never rub it. this happens (felt) by washing in hot water and rubbing. So sorry 🥰
Handwash or use specific wool machine programs with a gentle detergent. But first you dont need to wash wool sweaters that often if they are good quality. Use a steamer instead and only wash once per season! ❤😊
yeah I find I don't need to wash mine that often to be honest, nothing like my tees etc. It just so happened the one time I did...well..you've seen what happened lol
Hi ! I do not know if you still have your jumpers but one trick I learned is you can stretch them back by adding conditioner. Since it’s natural fibres the conditioner helps to relax the fibres. Hope this helps ❤
Awww bless you. X very pretty the ones you have bought and they suit you so much.... sometimes buying second hand....vintage has man advantages....as long. Your comfortable with it...I have bought many items for my granddaughter. 21 months. Knowing how much she is growing...I bring them home and wash immediately... Then it makes me feel better .. 😊I hope you are having a wonderful time...💐
Is it bad I was watching these sweaters and thinking of my 2 year old in them and how sweet they’d be 😂😂 so glad you laughed though we have all been there I’m sure! Loving your Paris vlogs ❤
I had an experience with one of my favorite wool, sweaters, shrinking after accidentally making it into the washer. Thankfully, I caught it before I went to the dryer, but it was washed on warm… I know have my own laundry basket because I have many wall, cashmere, silk, and other natural fiber, clothing items that need some special care. When they do need washing. So sorry, this happened to your lovely sweaters! These vintage shops are really incredible! I really wish I had some thing like that here where I live. I have to dig around through many thrift stores to find something decent, maybe. But over the years I have created quite a wardrobe sorting through many of the shops. What I am even more impressed by is the people in the videos, walking the streets, and in the shops. Their style is classically and casually elevated compared to what I see here in the panhandle north west of America. Maybe it’s the difference of being a city compared to a more rural setting, but still, much more practical for weather than the people, I see here where we can get four seasons in one day. It’s really common to see people here in the dead of winter wearing jeans and a T-shirt and freezing as they tried to snow. People who lived here a long time. I just don’t understand it. But things like fur and trenchcoats and wool are so practical for balmy weather!
I love how you turned a bad situation around. You have found some really beautiful sweaters to replace the old ones! And in relation to shopping vintage clothes? To me, it is rather different to shopping new clothes. It is like using a different muscle. I shop almost entirely vintage or secondhand and have done so for quite a few years now. For me, it takes such a long time to find the good pieces. I usually have an idea of what I need in my wardrobe, and then I kind of use that analysis as my guide when shopping. I am very picky and particular, am over 6 feet and can rarely fit a size 14 or 16 well either, and I simply refuse buying something that does not feel right anymore. But! Being picky and particular means that i have some great pieces in my wardrobe! I just bought a beautiful tailor made men's dress vest with a black wool front and a silk back and lining. It has taken me maybe six months to find it, I think? It has to feel right. It has to fit right. I have to feel like me in it. For me, vintage / second hand shopping is even slower because you and the pieces have to find your way to each other :)
SO happy to another vlog - and a long one! I feel the same way about finding good vintage pieces. Never feel like I have luck. Please share any great places. 💕💐
I am happy to see that you succeeded at finding what you needed and wanted 💚. As you said, it can be so very difficult to find what you want and which fits as well. You'll certainly remember that shrinking episode 😄
Eucalan is amazing for handwashing wool. It doesn’t need rinsing and cares for the wool fibres. You have to be very careful with usual detergents. They often contain enzymes that break down proteins to remove, for example, blood stains. Wool, being made of protein, can literally be broken down over a number of washes. (From a knitter - once you’ve spent eleventy billion hours making a jumper, you don’t take any chances!)
Hi Jess, Paris suits you, you are glowing ✨. Enjoy every minute there and thank you for taking us with you 🙃. P.S. the new Maje jacket is a great fit for you and looks so cozy. Take care.
You look amazing in your new coat! I'm so sorry for the sweaters, new ones look good though I would still rebuy a pink one if its available online, that color was perfect on you.
So sorry for your sweaters 🥺 My advice is to send a picture to Sezane and ask if they can do something. They probably won’t give you a refund but sometimes you can have a promo code for your next purchase. That’s what happened to me once, and it was a sweater from a smaller brand, so I’d definitely give it a try ♥️
Omgosh, sorry to laugh😂🤣I thought "Oh! Why is Jessica looking at little girls clothes?" "They look like her clothes"Its good you laughed about it but I no doubt that hurt.
Oh no poor you I was just thinking how lovely that sweater looked watching a video a few days ago. However the replacements are gorgeous, really enjoying your Paris videos. 😊
Oh man, I feel your dismay over the sweaters! Last summer, I washed on delicate a beautiful viscose dress and it shrank dramatically. I learned that viscose is not all the same...if it says dry clean only, they mean it 😪
I am so sorry, but it did make me laugh about the jumpers. I am always doing things like this. It nice that I am not just the only one. I washed my boyfriend's new rugby shirt. It was white. Not for long. It went pink. It was nice as a PJ's top. 🙈
I love Sezane wool jumpers, and have only ever hand washed - which is a pain - but am always so worried about shrinking them (as they are expensive) Hugs for your lost jumpers! I think it's a good job I don't live near Sezane and wonder how you only bought 2 🤣😳
hELLO from Montreal. Dear Jessica. I felt bad for you and your beautiful sweaters but I couldn't resist smiling. You handled the situation perfectly! Your new ones are beautiful on you. You truly are my hero. I admire your courage. Yes, beautiful to be in Paris but it is not easy to do what you decided to do. Bravo!!! I love your videos. One small suggestion: It would be great to add a french song to your beautiful videos. Enjoy the rest of your adventure. Amuse-toi bien et à bientôt. Bises xxx
apparently there's always a week in February where it feels like summer before winter comes back and I think that's this week. Ready for the rain again soon haha
I'm very sorry for your jumpers. I do wash all of my cashmere/wool jumpers by hand and dry them flat. Wish you a wonderful Tuesday evening in París. Greetings from Spain!
Thank you so much! This is definitely the way forwards. They said it’s ok to machine wash in Sezane BUT you should know your washing machine very well before 🙈🙈😭😂
Oh I’m so sorry to see what happened to your Sezane sweaters. I wanted to see you window shop in Paris, I certainly wasn’t wishing you a mishap which would cause you to have to buy anything. Despite sweater-gate you look well ❤
Too bad about the jumpers. I have done the same thing and resorted to when travelling always taking long sleeve or short sleeve t-shirts and a blazer, keeps me warm when cool and looks dressy and same time casual. Is there a Zara in Paris that may have a sale? Or an H&M, I have bought a few blazers and not expensive. I gave up on heavy jumpers, I just buy from Zara dressy cotton blend jumpers. They all wash great and I hang them to dry. Love that cream jacket you are wearing, very stylish. Loved this shopping video and loved the ones you choice, even the carrier bag from the store was neat.
Oh your poor sweaters...but love the new additions especially the scalloped, criss cross one. Absolutely gorgeous! Love a good vintage shop but agreed sometimes fit is an issue.
I hope you're enjoying Paris Jessica? I know you mentioned having your nose altered a few weeks ago but have you also had lip fillers and teeth whitened? I mention this only because you seem to be "looking in mirrors and camera lenses a lot more." I thought that you were less worried about things like that and you were always such a refreshing change from other Bloggers. Stay safe x
Oh no I'm so sorry! the same thing happened to my sezane sweater - it was such a pain in the bummm so don't feel so bad about it :) May can I ask you which size you chose for your new sweaters & your lovely jacket?
@@JessicaRoseWilliams thank you!!! I love that you are enjoying your time in Paris! You feel settled there 🥰 Such a bummer your sweaters shrank.. im lazy about handwashing clothes.. I usually try a a delicate wash and hope for the best..lol. Sometimes it works out.. sometimes it doesn't 🙈
@@JessicaRoseWilliams Either in a wash bag inside out on cold setting or by hand inside out and rolled in a towel. I bought a wool sweater before (which I found itchy on my skin) and washed it in cold water and it still shrank up to the size of yours. I think wool just has to be dry cleaned only (which means chemicals are by your skin). So, now I’m careful to read the material label before I buy. Does that mean I miss out on many styles?yes. it’s just something to consider.

Unfortunately those particular Sezane sweaters are not 100% wool so they still need to be washed after a few wears.

I got a small in the warmer one and XS in the ballet style
Yes Jess just replace them, there’s bound to be a sezane near you.
luckily about a 20 min walk from my place
