Feminine, polished, statement are my words - been using for a few months now and it’s so helpful for both shopping, and clearing out your wardrobe. Totally get the pressure with trying to make ethical purchases - but I think the most important choice is buying something that you will use, that fills a definite gap in your wardrobe - the boots are gorgeous and a great buy 🥰
Let yourself go Jess, beautiful clothes for someone beautiful inside and out. I have been watching your channel for a while now, you look so much more relaxed in this video presume it’s the stability you have with new apartment and getting used to life in Paris. Don’t let anyone derail you from your plans, you have achieved so much already. Take care and enjoy Christmas in Paris - how wonderful xx
thank you! something BIG has shifted and something BIG is coming too. I don't know what it is but I feel it and I'm excited, so it's cool to know the shift shows. Can't wait to share Christmas in Paris with you, I think it's going to be beautiful xx
I am so glad you got the pink scarf, (I kept thinking at the beginning of the video, I hope she got the pink one). For my fall-winter capsule I am looking for some black shoes, I also needed a pair of dark blue jeans but I already got them. My three words are natural, simple, and feminine.
I am a vegetarian. I also try to reduce plastics in my life, walk more, consume less all around. FAR from anything that looks perfect. I drive a 12 year old Jeep, because she still has life in her but she does not get the best gas mileage. I buy new leather shoes because I have a size 10 to 10.5 foot, often wide, and I cannot find anything second hand that remotely fits. I am like you, and probably many of your watchers, we still live with intention and awareness. It's the small things that add up. Three years ago, I stopped going to any fast good restaurants (not to say some of that food is just yummy sometimes) but it was the sheer waste of materials that got me. This year, I am working on reducing my electricity use. It took me FOREVER to remember my shopping bags :) but not it's habit. I tried the vegan alternatives and they just didn't last. I spent over $400 on a purse and it fell apart in 2 years. My leather one has been going for 7 years now and still has life in it. I consider my life curated. I do look at everything I own and purchase. I downsized 5 years ago and I honestly have not bought much since then. I do replace things like dishes, silverware, glasses, furniture, etc, second hand, because my space is small and I do not want a lot of stuff. Your purchases are beautiful, as if your outlook! Well done!
You are doing great! Coming from a former sustainability professional, the first step is awareness. The 2nd step is to educate yourself. The 3rd step is to make intentional purchases from companies who are actively trying to do business in a sustainable way. Finally, I recommend that individuals try to add one new sustainable action into their daily routine each year. That way it is not overwhelming. It could be any number of things, like remembering to bring your reusable bags to the grocery store, taking public transportation or looking for used options instead of new items. This year, I have eliminated the purchase of paper towels. I keep reusable clothes on a paper towel holder instead and drop them into a basket when I use them. I wash them with my other dish towels. So far, its working great!. You are right, it takes all of us each doing small things that will make the difference in the end. I love your new items. What is most important is that you love them too, which means that you will have them for many years to come. Congrats!
thank you so much for sharing this with us. It's so simple, straight forward, understanding and feels super positive and nurturing all at once ❤️❤️❤️ we need more of this attitude in the sustainability space xx
Absolutely gorgeous pieces! They add that chic Paris look and add a beautiful pop of colour in the scarf. I agree with you 💯 you must not restrict yourself or feel guilty as it’s so important ti trust your instincts. 🩷
I went through the same decision process a couple years ago and ultimately decided that leather lasts way longer and is better than plastic being disposed of. Every person has to decide what feels right for them. Beautiful pieces! 🫶🏻
I recently had an evaluation with a House of Colour stylist and had my colors and style assessed. I am a brown summer and a classic ingenue. I am currently redoing all of my wardrobe in those colors and style.
Loved this vlog Jess! Sat here watching it with my 4 year old daughter swooning over your purchases and shopping in Paris! I dream of going back to Paris with her with me one day! We both loved watching Hope - she's so cute. Adore those boots!! A very conscious purchase I'm sure you won't regret - they've just gone onto my wish list! Enjoy your new items xx
Loved the video. My words are comfortable, smart, oversized. Just where I’m at, love the scarf! Have to admit I’m still in love with my Acne Studios scarf, two years with it and still in love!
I've just bought a new leather bag and I am in two minds to keep or not. Think I will keep. Love that quote about lots of people doing things imperfectly. Such a good way to look at it. My brother and his gf are vegan and I always think he does what he does whereas I'm not vegan but I am good at recycling. We can each contribute to various causes. My 3 words are cosy, practical, stylish
It’s amazing that you are same height and body shape as me 😊 All I have to do is follow your wardrobe choices, modify the colors, and I’ll look amazing ❤❤❤
Loved your purchases, boots, shoes and scarf, all are great and of course those flare jeans. I bought a pair too, love the look. Happy to see you not restricting yourself on the Vegan and non-leather. Hope looks like she is so enjoying being in the video.
hope you love them! Glad you enjoyed the video. She's so funny foraging around - all she wants is cuddles. Cuddles and food and she's happy...such a Taurus 😂
I loved your transparency and the beautiful, encouraging inspiration you gave us at the end of your sweet talk, Jessica!! We all experience that anxiety but what I find very interesting is that how some companies that preach about all of the good, fair stuff, are also the ones who still sell fast fashion and more!😊🤦♀️
There’s so much to the conversation isn’t there. I always wish we were in the room together to talk about this stuff ❤️ thank you for the kind words xx
Thank you for putting this video out there, it helped me to understand some of my reasons for buying leather in a conscious lifestyle. I introduced a pair of shoes this year and a bag recently, after going through many items that just ended up going to landfill and disintegrated in a hot climate. I will continue to look for the best option I can, but I find but after watching Alicia Silverstone and her videos a while ago, I realised I had to embrace imperfection as well!
you're welcome. I'm so pleased to hear it helped. I haven't seen Alicia's videos on this but I'm going to have a look - do you know where I can find them? thank you for sharing
I love Sezane ! It’s everything I love about dressing , feminine, beautiful quality, and not trendy but chic. I’m 5’2” also and petite , so now I know how the crop jeans will look on me . I tried to get them in denim and black but they sold out . I hope they restock soon . Everything you got looks great and we’re thoughtfully chosen . There brut sexy jeans are awesome too. 👍
@@JessicaRoseWilliams if you don’t mind me asking did you get the size 2 or 4 . I take the 25 in the brut sexy jeans . I’m leaning to the 4 is their denim for the crop stiff denim ? Have you ever checked out Nisolo for boots and shoes . Their a family owned ethical company and they pay their workers a fair living wage , best of all the quality of their shoes are perfection! Their booties are very feminine and sleek looking . They have some chunky boots (Chelsea boots) but mostly very chic looking boots in many colors of leather
I completely understand your struggle with regards to buying leather. Case in point, I've had a pair of leather equestrian classic chelsea boots I purchased a month ago -sitting in a box - until today. I can't say my decision to purchase & keep them felt very good, but the functionality, fit, and the fact that they will get heavy use for years to come won out in the end. The struggle is real -ugh!

Great video as always. I found your personal style workshop on Substack really helpful! But I did wonder what you do about underwear. Do you have several neutral sets you can wear under anything? I’ve always felt like I just make do with basic ugly mismatched pieces but I’d like to be more put together. (Sorry if this question is a bit intrusive, feel free to not answer!)
Oh it’s not intrusive at all. So pleased you enjoyed the workshop ❤️ neutral is key yes. My ideal is 10 pairs of the same nude panties that are seamless under everything, a nice strapless bra and a discreet sports bra. Trainer socks and black tights too. I’d say that was my underwear capsule ❤️
I love those shoes! You look beautiful in them! The boots and jeans are something else too. Hope you don’t mind but As you haven’t worn leather for so long you might not remember - they really need to be protected with a spray. It will help stop any water stains if you get them wet. Also other stains.
I think the same: natural materials are best, that means also leather if plantbased leather isn't available for what you want. But it has to be of very good quality, so you don't have to buy them again for years to come. That way you are still animal and eco friendly: well balanced. ❤
Love the pink scarf! The boots look like they may be suede - are you concerned about maintaining that look (weather, scuffing)? That's always my worry with suede: how to keep them looking so good.
If the new shoes don’t have a rubber bottom take them to a cobbler and they can add a sole protector. It will make them last longer and prevent slipping.

I'm a bit sympathetic towards the issue of clothing consumption even for upperclass people since it is such a big part of the broader Western culture nowadays: since clothing appears to be more suited to the individual, people rely on it as the most important social signal, & it does make one feel really uncomfortable & out-of-place when you have to wear something that inhibits this purpose on laundry day or something. I don't want to be rude & I don't want to make anyone feel bad, but you did invite discussion & I only see people agreeing with you. I do think the items you purchased are really beautiful. But "doing what you can" regarding the issues of animal & human welfare & the environment does usually require some personal sacrifice. Saying "it doesn't really matter what an individual does" is usually reserved for people who can't afford to always shop sustainably & sometimes need to buy new cheap winter boots in their size or something. Maybe someone who can't metabolize soy & pea protein needs to eat meat, but I really don't think it can be argued well that somebody needs to buy multiple pieces of new luxury leather goods. When society improves & the people of the world can collaborate effectively enough to fight climate change & improve human & animal welfare as a global effort, I really think animal agriculture will be drastically curtailed, if not eliminated, & I think there's utility in those of us with the means to live as if that's already happened. & I find plenty of secondhand leather goods, maybe not something specific but there are plenty. Again not to be a downer I just see everybody agreeing with you & want to indulge in adding my perspective to the discussion.
My words are elegant, feminine, and earthy (however, I like the word organic more, I might steal it from one of the comments here). I am in fact commenting to say I resonate to your statement, and I believe we alone cannot make a significant difference. Yes, we need to be conscious of the impact our choices have in the world, and make an effort to do better. However, depriving yourself to the detriment of the whole world will just have a negative impact on your mental health. Keep your values in mind, but also please be kind to yourself. 🤍
Growth is a great thing! No guilt, no judgement. Beautiful how you are growing and maturing.❤️

I feel its OK to wear leather, the animal has already been sacrificed, it would be a waste to just throw the hides away.
