Hi...I came across your video while searching for another solution for my 50hp etec...A few years back I had trouble starting my engine too and after a lot of searching I was told to dismantle the air separator , blow it out and reassemble. I don't know why...I didn't find anything but it started up like a dream after that. Just a thought. Good video btw. Barry
Modern outboards are engeneering wonders, regardless of the make, but with complexity comes vulnerability ... and higher main components replacement costs. By the way, I like very much your new intro video !

Like UR vids alot. I have bought a 115hp etec 2006/2007 Evinrude that was under water for a short while. I dont know much about it more than they took it up, sparayed _WD40 al over it and satarted it. The let it run for about half an our. but they meant it smoked alot. It was company owned so it then just didnt get used for about fiver years. Then they they let a dealer check it. They also startedi it, thats al i know. Theu gave a prize lika 7K to fix it, they wnated tho change cabels and stuff. Then i bought it. It turns, no problem. There are absolutltly no signs that it has been under water. No abnormal korrosion or so. All electric konectors look fine and so on. I dont even know if there is anything wrong with it. I suspect i can have a injectorproblem maby? I wonder, is there any chanse you- would share the software so if i have to change injector i can. The dealers here (Sweden) take 700 for a injector but i have to have the software to change it and they don let me get it. :( Thanks for great vids. Hope U can share the software? plz...
The version of the evinrude software I got {from ebay} will only let you do so much. The oem software you have to put your serial number in for the motor you are working on. This one you can not up date the software or the engine updates. The only thing it will do is tell you what is worng.
Before you order a new VST you should verify whether the EMM really does pull the fuel pump's negative lead to ground. You only verified the 55V positive lead. Unfortunately the Carter fuel pump is no longer available. You need to order the new replacement VST which is a more durable design and comes with a bunch of fuel lines to make it fit in older engines.
The cps is red because the motor isn't turning. It doesn't know the crankshafts position until the motor turns. When you are cranking or running it will be green.
Hello.. The line coming to one injector of the 30 hp etech engine is not working. ecu is solid. There is a problem with the electrical installation. I wonder which cables should I look at? Can you please help? Yanıtla
If you don’t mind me asking, where do you get your parts for evinrude outboards? I’m having one heck of a time just getting new gaskets for my thermostat housing and cover
I have a 40hp e-tec with fuel issues. Could you please tell me the make/model number of the plug and code reader that I can connect to my laptop. Thanks for a great video.
I got a 2018 e Tec and I'm pretty sure this would work and don't make sense. Unhook your your negative terminal wait 2 seconds and hook her back up. Should work perfectly. I has to do it with mine all the time
Have U seen my answers in the earlier post? I have posted part number on a much cheaper pump, It is the same as in older ficht engines. Dont need to by the VST but check the filter in VST. Here in Sweden it cost about 300 USD but they are adding like thief's so i would be surprised if the price "over there" are much over 100 USD. Plz, let me know.
I did put a new set of spark plugs in and I index them to the fuel injector. So far all I could find for the high pressure pump is the pump and the evaporator as one unit.
I'm not an outboard mechanic but do automotive and diesel work - did you check to see if the low pressure pump was supplying fuel to the booster pump???
I did check the low pressure pump and it was pumping fine. The owner of the outboard decided to sell the boat as is and not fix it. I wanted to fix it and not leave everybody hanging but he would not want to buy a new pump. He was going to advertise it for 2500. I thought about buying it but, with the motor being over size for that boat I would not want to sell like that.
The code reader I thought it was new. It looked new when I received it. I don't think that you can update the EMM with this program. I believe it just reads codes and test.
I bought that off ebay. The software was not a easy install but it did work after it was done. It will only give diagnostics it will not update the computer.
Of course it wont start, its an etec! The motor is worth more as scrap aluminum than as a running motor. Own a etec? I hope you have strong arms to paddle back to shore!
The owner offered the motor to me and I said I was not interested. I took a class on e-tec and they make is sound like it is the best motor ever. Remember It's a sorry duck that don't praise his own pond.
Hi, New subscriber here, have you removed the FP from the VST where you mentioned it could pop off? I stripped mine down and there is a filter at the bottom of it and was blocked with bits of old fuel hose so maybe that is why the pump is running but no pressure on the high pressure side? Keen to know the outcome as this is the same engine as mine. By the way you look like the comedian Jethro.
Thank you for subscribing. I have not taken the fuel filter and cleaned it yet. I did remove the pump and try to make it pump. I am thinking the pump burned up because of running dry. The owner of the motor wants to get the part. He is trying to order a after market pump from a online dealer. I posted the video in april and here it is July and no pump yet. If the pump ever gets here it will be a $65.00 Fix. Keep watching.
Hello.. I'm having issues with the high pressure pump I'm sure.. when I test it with the key on I get 12v. When I'm cranking i don't see it move from 12v..... should I be looking for AC?
The stator is a 55 volt AC system. The EMM converts AC from the stator to DC. I had the same problem. I had fuel at the low side of the pump. The pump just would not run. I check found the pump on mine was bad. I could not find just the pump you have to buy the whole unit.
