- With Beetle production easily exceeding 20 million units worldwide, we got a chance to travel to Germany where over 700 Beetle owners showed off all their unique modifications! We also got a chance to show you guys some driving footage of a 2000 Beetle RSi! Germany is an incredible country and if you guys ever get the chance to travel there, we highly recommend it!

CalsVidsKids Yup. We literally have our own unique version of the Passat in America because Americans are such fatties and demanded bigger seats and bigger cupholders.

I couldn't care less about the VW Beetle, but I watched this anyway because I appreciate your work, Sofyan. Also, it is kind of interesting to see models that we don't get stateside.
Correction: in the USA, 2004 mk4 r32 only came with a 6-speed, while the mk5 R32 only came with a dsg automatic for 2008

Those new Beetles seem to have taken some styling tips from their Porche brethren.
The White Arteon is a Elegance trim, then there is a R-Line that looks even a lot better ;) I do always wonder why in the US you don't get the VW Quality we get here in EU, since the Passat here looks a lot better and even has a lot more Tech (Active Info Display since 2014, also Matrix LED Headlights)

Pick one up? The Beetle RSI usually sells for around 50-60K Euros, if you can find one. I guess that was journalist small talk.
I've owned 3 Beetles, a 99, 05 and 14. When I upgraded to my 14, I no longer felt like i was driving a Beetle, it felt more like a regular car. I really missed the long dashboard, I missed the little things such as the bar underneath the passenger airbag, i missed checking the time and temp above the rearview mirror I had a bad habit for a while on looking up for the time instead of on the speedometer where it is now lol. I don't like how the seats are now. I wish they went lower, I feel like when i have the seat all the way lowered, it still feels like i'm too high. I'm also a 6'2'" guy. I do like however, the grip onto the steering wheel and the way the car handles with it... very retro!
I have a sweet spot for Beetles. Unfortunately mostly women drive Beetles in the US
1st gen R32 came with a manual and I'm pretty sure only manual in the states. Second gen only came with dsg. Good work though... I like your reviews man.

Many Cars from the states don't make it to europe. We only get Cadillac and the Mustang here.

Yas.. I had a 2005 Beetle and it smelled like it. When i traded it in for a newer one back in 2014, it no longer had that smell :/

Looks at all those money pits, sitting there looking all innocent but those bugs will bankrupt you (at least the new ones)

I got a 2014 Beetle new when it was 58 miles. It now has 126k miles, which is super high up.. and i've never had any major problems! From what i remember, I did have to replace the cv boots a few times.. my battery died at 105k miles, my ignition switch went out at 115k miles which didn't allow me to turn my car off, the key would get stuck and it costed almost $400 including labor and part. And thats all i really had. I keep up on preventive maintenance, such as changing coolant, transmission and power steering fluids... I heard most people who have problems with their beetles live in the midwest or east coast because i think beetles go bad when they are in too warm or too cold climates. I live in CA, where the weather is moderate and haven't had issues. Just my theory.
Brandon Sunshine Yeah, VW has improved their cars.. and especially if you won’t be driving that much there shouldn’t be anything to worry about. Normally when I start my car in the morning I usually don’t drive it off until the coolant temperature is at 100 degrees. My coolant temp only goes up to 194. I have one of the last 2.5L 5-Cyl engine which VW discontinued.
Brandon Sunshine the mk 3 beetle is a reliable car, at least the 4 cylinder versions. The beetle dune is a de-tuned EA888 2.0t motor, which is indestructible. You won’t get any serious problems as long as you follow the maintenance schedule. Oil changes, tire rotations, the usual stuff. I’ve got a 2014 beetle GSR with 40k miles at the moment, and I’ve gotten literally no problems yet.
