Great review as always! VNM really are a fantastic group of people. I'm pleased to see people discussing their products more when considering their upgrade options but more people need to know about them!
About your software misshifts from 3-5, i noticed when you're in VNM config the green dot in 3rd gear moves very close the the 5th gear box. Did you try moving the boundaries in software before disassembling and cleaning your shifter?

And to answer your question, Yes, I did try to move the boundaries and it did work for a while. Then it started to get worse. Which is why I tried cleaning the sensor.
And because my home is based around a bit of a dusty environment, it requires very frequent dusting sessions.

About the side to side tension there is a fix
Check "VNM Shifter Spring Upgrade" its a very easy mod
You just put a cheap spring there and done

Say what you will about theTHS8 but I never had it miss a single shift. It definitely is loose and not as nicely built though.
It’s less about the Th8a being loose and more about the lack of resistance tuning. By no means it is a bad shifter. For the price, it’s a great deal.

Have you noticed any degration or difficulty in screwing?
I made a reddit post and some say to not use a power drill and screw it by hand to be more gentle
Im asking ytbers that i know have it and use it
If i got answer im gonna post it in reddit
I haven’t used the power drill and always used to swap the shifter plates and stuff with allen key. No wear and tear at all.

Is the resistance hard enough to replicate an old car a bit?
To some degree, yes. The resistance can be set so high that it would become less of a shifting game and more of a yanking game.
