    i just discovered this channel and its quite refreshing to see these kind of reviews with that editing style, keep it up!

      Thanks for your kind words! This video didn't have the kind of reach I was hoping for after my first video did well on TH-cam, and I felt a bit disappointed that relatively few people would see the thought and effort that went into shooting it.
      Eventually I realised that I'm proud that I created it from nothing - and that's enough. That said, it means so much to me that you reached out! I'm currently working on quite a few projects and trying to make those videos look interesting too, I hope to see you in the comments :)

      @DrAlanQuan i absolutely feel you, i am also a sim racer who reviews products and puts a lot of effort into the editing and the script and video quality, and yes it really sucks when you make a video that you are proud of just for it to not be noticed enough... but the key is to keep pumping out more videos of interesting products.

      @@DrAlanQuan Glad to hear that! Definitely want to see more with the style and direction you have going, it's great to see a more cinematic/video-production approach that's still very informative 😎

    I'm thinking on a motion platform and was wondering about the companies build quality. Looks spot on for this shifter. Thank you for reviewing and your hard work.

      Hi Benjamin. One of the wonderful things about producing these videos is it has opened some avenues of communication with the people that run simracing companies and it has been such pure delight speaking with VNM. Jump on their discord and see! Very generous with their time and knowledge.
      I'm 100% not on their payroll, I've just been so impressed with who they are and what they do.
      Thanks for reaching out!

    Great video! I can't fault any of the service I've had from VNM. Tran will help anytime of day and nothing is too much trouble. I now have the shifter, e-brake and pedals from VNM :)

    To keep the shift knob from loosening. Once I tighten it, I wrap a piece of black electrical tape around the bottom to keep it from loosening. It works well and is not noticable. I only use the seq though so frequently switching the shift knob is not a concern for me.

    • @DrAlanQuan
      @DrAlanQuan  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If I'm understanding correctly, you basically tape the knob+collar to the steel shaft?
      I can see that working, and the janky solution is actually very on brand for me hahaha if you've seen my approach to a sharp corner on my seat mount.
      Thanks for the suggestion!

    • @g.s.8108
      @g.s.8108 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@DrAlanQuan actually, once I tighten the collar, I tape the collar and knob to prevent it from loosening, not tape to the shaft.

    How good is this channel please? I would really recommend to get a bit into SEO for TH-cam, there are for example browser add-ins which can support you in that regard...
    Your videos deserve a LOT more views!
    On topic: Just stumbled upon this manufacturer and I guess after a few years of using an SHH Shifter, it's time to upgrade... A bit of an early christmas present to myself, I guess. :D

    • @DrAlanQuan
      @DrAlanQuan  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Mathias, thank you so much for your kind words. SEO hasn't been a consideration at all, but you're right it's definitely worth looking into if it means I can spread my reach - thanks for the tip!
      As for VNM I can definitely vouch for the company - every one of their products I've touched has been really well thought out, and they are a passionate and communicative group of racers even as they continue to grow. I'm really looking forward to seeing their new products (and if you've been on their discord you'll see there's quite a few coming soon!)
      The SHH Newt is very interesting to me actually, I had reservations about it in the past because of its 3D printed nature, but since I've started 3D printing myself I've come to appreciate how good printed products can be.

    Hello, I just bought this shifter and its very good quality
    I wonder though all of this screwing and unscrewing will damage the threads
    Have you noticed any degration or difficulty in screwing?

    • @DrAlanQuan
      @DrAlanQuan  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I don't think there is any issue. The shifter is all metal construction so there's no degradation when taking it apart or reassembling - but to be honest I haven't taken it apart many times. It's been really reliable for the 3 years now

    • @tkdmp5698
      @tkdmp5698 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@DrAlanQuan Thank you for answering
      I made a reddit post and asked if those who have it had an issue
      I said I use a power drill set to low torque and some suggested to do it by hand gently to avoid degration
      I asked another person he owns it 2 years and he said he has no problems
      It's probably fine
      Anyway thank you

  • @RichBurn

    ive had mine for 1 year and the only issue I have is the sensors get dirty and it starts to shift to the wrong gears. Have to unmount it to take it out of the casing and clean sensors. kinda annoying.

    • @DrAlanQuan
      @DrAlanQuan  ปีที่แล้ว

      I did have concerns about dirt ingress through the open gate but that's not something I've encountered. I do give it a puff of compressed air once in a while to clear things out. Have you determined what it is that makes the sensors dirty (dust, grease, metal shavings etc)? Also have you downloaded the software to recalibrate the 'gear zones' not sure what they're called?
      I would be annoyed if I had to dismantle the shifter to clean it regularly too. Thankfully that's not been my experience.

    • @RichBurn
      @RichBurn ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@DrAlanQuan yes i have the software and everything is updated and zones adjusted. I think its just dust. When you shift and have the software open you can see the ball bounce to the right on all the top slots(135)

    Would you buy this or the Fanatec shifter?

    • @DrAlanQuan
      @DrAlanQuan  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That's an easy one - I made that decision when I bought this shifter 2 years ago.
      The Fanatec shifter is notorious for electronic issues and although my experiences with Fanatec support have been just fine, I didn't want to risk it.
      I went with the VNM shifter when VNM was still very young and they have really impressed me with the quality of the product and ESPECIALLY the passion and promptness of their support.
      100% VNM shifter in my opinion

    How can I get my VNM shifter to stop making 4 file folders onto my desktop? Everytime I delete or move them it makes new ones when I use it
