  • Here, Ian Sadler demonstrates how to hold and grip the golf club properly. Gripping the golf club in the correct way is imperative, especially if you want to play good golf. This video clearly explains the best way to hold the golf club correctly and create the perfect golf grip. The importance of a correct golf grip allows you to add the other moving parts to your golf swing. Sometimes we can overlook our grip as the main reason why we are hitting poor golf shots. If you can HOLD the club correctly with both hands you will definitely lower your handicap.
let me know how you get on. Regards Ian.

Thanks for the great vids, Ian! Quick question... do you think there is any downside to adopting a stronger grip in order to correct a slice (in my case, the driver)? I don't seem to have the same issue with any other club.

Hi Brian. My pleasure. I don't see any real problem with that, especially if it works for you. But if you're not slicing with any other club then it could be your driver shaft is not right for you. Is the shaft the same as your irons? Regards Ian.

@@IanSadlerGolf Yes sir, irons are all steel and driver is graphite, albeit stiff flex.

@@argo_b Hi Brian. Sounds like it's worth checking out if that shaft is suited to your swing speed. Regards Ian.

Interessting with thumb to the left, why is that? Other grip instructions almost always says thumb goes sligthly too the right of the shaft. Curious.

Hi Robin and thanks for taking the time to leave a comment. The thumb of the lead hand (my left thumb in the video) should be pointing slightly left as you look down. This is the correct position. If it is pointing to the right then the likely problem is the heel of the lead hand is not on top of the club properly. Remember, the left thumb should be in a natural position, which is dictated by where your wrist is placed on the club. I hope this clarifies it for you. If not, message me again and I'll try and explain it differently for you. Thanks again, regards Ian.
