i think its a combination of speakers and listening position experiments. This is why back when I first setup my system took about 6 weeks to get my system sounding good. Not perfect by any means but im happy. Every room has its problems.
The distance of the drivers to the front wall is related to bass dropout at regular intervals at specific frequencies. Basically, bass, reflecting off the back wall is out of phase , those reflections catch up with in-phase transmissions from you speakers. When out of phase and in phase waves meet, they annihilate. I just went through this a few months ago I keep my system in my basement or man cave I have 3 amps with 2 turntables per amp I have 3 sets of speakers one is my original first set of speakers I ever bought in 1980 they still work radian research my other set is MTS tower speakers and the last is a set of onkyos speakers that I found being discarded they look like they were ever used with a 15 double subwoofer all of my tufrntables are above the speakers so as not get get feedback so far so good but I always had a problem where if I sat down my sofa are 8 ft away from speakers cannot move any further cause other half is my gym the bass was always stronger than if I was to stand up it always bothered me I saw on a utube show this guy said you can improve bass on your speakers by doing this simple trick I thought he was nuts all he said was tighten the screw that hold the main woofer cause as the years go buy they will loosen I have never touched my speakers or anykind of work on them but I did noticed the screws that was holding the speakers in place were all slightly loose the average was one and three quarters turn on most of them he said by doing this the bass will come out even and better well after doing all this I said this was too easy well the bass now is even when I stand and or sit down its not muddy but pretty clear and no chesty sound at all I was floored this has helped a lot thought I'd share this with you even both of my subwoofer speakers were loose go figure JRo
So the First thing you talk about is Money related things acoustic panels and ultra High Dollar Feet on your equipment??? LaScalas are not known for Low End Base Performance, I believe you talked about that issue when you received them. But Moving Furniture, and things in your listening area is a definite prerequisite to great Sound, the Huge one is Carpet, or Rugs and perhaps not many people think about that! Thanks for the Vid for those that have forgotten!

The issue for me with moving forward is sacrificing low end. I hear more of the low frequency capabilities of my speakers when I'm further away.

What order should I talk about things in my video?
