    If your Whirlpool washing machine is not spinning or it is filling with water but the drum is not turning, or is showing on the digital display error fault codes F06 or if the machine is showing any of these F07, F09, F11, F19, F20, F22, then it is a good chance that your Whirlpool washing machine motor carbon brushes have worn out.
    We are working on a Whirlpool, but this video is also good for Bauknecht, Fisher & Paykel, Ignis, Ikea, Laden, Maytag, Neutral & Philips models of washing machine.

    Excellent guide, just fixed my whirlpool Denver 1400. The old brushes were not completely worn out after 9 years of use, however one of the connectors was very loose, which was probably the cause of the F06 issue. I replaced the brushes anyway as I had ordered spare ones already. Thanks again!

  • @kschneeman1
    @kschneeman1 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    This seems to have worked for us, thanks so much! Our problem seems to have been not that the brushes were worn down but that the spring on one was shot so the brush wasn't making proper contact. $20 fix versus $650 that repair shop wanted - they wouldn't entertain the notion of replacing a part in the motor, just replacing the motor. Just bought y'all a round, thanks for providing this information!

    Thanks for the help, you just saved me a fortune and it was quite good fun doing it myself. It works perfectly with new carbon brushes, fixes don't come much cheaper than that.
    Had a bit of trouble putting the tight drive belt back on after the fix, but I found another video with a useful tip about using a cable tie. That worked too, so God bless TH-cam!

    I just bought a round for everyone. I appreciate the video. I am about half way through the load and it is washing and working. I could not order the part from your store as you did not ship to the U.S, so this is my thank you to you all. It took me a second to put the belt back on (you need to spin the master pulley) and I left a flashlight inside the unit (which is gone forever), but it was thanks to this video, I have saved much money.

      By the way, the US doesn't even sell the carbon brush. I had the option of buying the whole motor for $830 or a new washer for lets say $500. I cross referenced American Whirlpool models with European models, I guess, and bought the part from Australia on November 8th. Worth the wait. Thanks again!!!

    Fixed my whirlpool machine today.Warranty already replaced my machine with a new one so now i have 2 washing machines LOL. Seems it was just a simple matter of unplugging the harness and cleaning all the connectors. I checked the brushes on the motor and they still had some life left....Cheers for your help mate..

    I know jack squat about appliances. But after watchig this video a couple times i was able to determine that one of the carbon brushes was stuck, the spring was no longer pushing it out. A slight adjustment on the brush and it popped out to where it should be. Big thank you for this video. Didn't even need to buy parts to fix the issue.

  • @paramn604

    Thank you everyone at the how-2-repair team. Your video is most excellent and you guys saved me from a lot of headache. I opened up the machine and found one of the carbon rods looked significantly worn down for a 2year old machine. Called whirlpool to order the part and they said I have to buy the entire motor - $800 cost as brushes are not sold separately. That sounded like a total scam to me - never gonna buy whirlpool or any of their other brands again. Their customer support team was completely useless. I checked with the guys here and they pointed me to the right part to order. Just before I was about to order, I inspected the part again and tried to pull out the carbon stick - and turns out it was just stuck not worn out. Popped it back in again following the video instructions. Your video is very well done and I cannot thank you guys enough for providing this service.

    @ Will T, I did not worry on replacing the brushes. I removed the washer and seen it was nothing like the video. I was in need of the washer pretty quick and did not want to purchase the wrong brushes. It is 10 years old and had been very good to us. Got tired of the smell from the seal and the misses was ready for the old fashion top load. So I broke down and purchased a GE top load. I did find brushes for sale on Amazon but did not know which would have worked. Sorry I could not be of more help, Gino

I could not find any match on line with my model number while searching for carbon brushes. Helpful. Just to note, if shock absorbers are bed and washing machine shakes a lot during high spinning it could cause the connectors to loose the connection shortly and it seems it could also result in F06.

      Yes, that would be the prudent thing to do. Scotch Brite works well. Make sure it's clean between the bars afterwards.

    My AWD/D start to spin and then stop, stop spin and stop waterpump, and no error code. Then try again and stop again. Is this problem with motor or control unit?

    mine doesn't have the carbon sticks. but when I took it apart I saw that two of the shocks had come loose and detached from the tub. I reconnceted. do you think that will fix the problem?

    • @whirlpool_addict_
      @whirlpool_addict_ ปีที่แล้ว

      The shock absorbers are there to dampen the noise. Without the shocks, expect a dance party 🎉 in the middle of the washroom. You need a new motor as from what you said you have a newer brushless motor.

    • @whirlpool_addict_
      @whirlpool_addict_ 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      This fault code shows on your washer’s display screen to indicate a problem of communication between two boards within your Whirlpool Duet Washer. These two boards are the Central module (CCU) and the Engine Control Microcircuit (MCU).
      When the error code E01 F06 shows on your washer’s digital display screen, it means there is no connection between the two boards where a signal indicating the start of a program and switch from one mode to another is transmitted. When this happens, your washing machine will stop working, bringing your entire laundry operation to a standstill. When you attempt to start the washing machine, it will still not work. This leaves you with only one option; fixing the machine to eliminate the error code.
      Under the upper panel of your washer on the right front side corner, you will find your washer’s first element. It is made like a node and has many wires. The second part of the washer is situated on the lower side of the washer under its tank.

    • @whirlpool_addict_
      @whirlpool_addict_ 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Begin by reloading your washer. This is the first thing that you should try in your efforts to restore your washer back to optimum efficiency. Please do this by unplugging the washer from its power source, then wait for five minutes before connecting the washer back to its wall socket, and turn it on.
      If the E01 F06 error code does not show on the digital display, switching off your machine has fixed the issue. However, it would be best if you verified this development by entering the diagnostic mode in your washer and running a quick test. This process is carried out when the washing machine is connected to a network, and the indicators function normally.
      Choose three buttons. The power button should not be a part of the three buttons. Press the three buttons alternatives for about eight seconds. This process should be orderly as you take note of the order with which you have pressed the buttons and repeat it twice. When you do this, the washer’s service diagnostic mode is activated, which will turn on the lights and show number 888 on the washer’s digital display.
      Once the service diagnostic mode is activated, you need to carry out an express test. It would be best if you did this by pressing and releasing the second button used in the previous step. After the start, your washer’s LED light begins to blink. It is at this moment that you press the START button to carry out the test. If the fault code e01 f06 appears on your digital display, then the issue has not been resolved. You need to inspect your washer thoroughly for underlying problems that could be causing the display of this error code. To exit the service diagnostic mode, you need to press the POWER button.

    My motor was fine, machine just would not spin out . put control to clean mode with laundry still in and started cycle. Machine started to spin out and stopped. flashed error code telling me the machine had cloth in it still, won't do clean cycle with cloths in machine, since the machine tried to spin I switched control to drain and spin. this worked and now machine is working again. My wife ran a load of cloths on delicate and I think the machine was stuck in delicate mode right before the problem started. Anyway see if this might work for you.

      I have a same Error F-06!? Can you give me another advice what to check except motor brushes because I think it's not a brushes related problem! I've connected my washing machine like it said in manuals and it had worked one full cycle for 130 minutes and next day when I wanted to turn it again after it took water in it is showing the 06 error!? I have to say that machine is not under warranty anymore because it is an older machine but it was never used before ( It has been factory factory packaged and sealed until few days ago! ). Thanks in advance.

      After being almost crazy with this error I finally figured it out. In my case it was the pin that connects the wire to the carbon brush device. It was a bit loose connection in one of them. I disconnected, then took pliers and made pressure on the pin to make it tighter (not too much) and then connected again and had the feeling of a solid connection! And voila! (I also checked the speed sensor at the end of the engine with a multimeter just in case) Now it's perfect again! Thanks to the video, didn't directly solve my problem but gave me the right direction!!

      Steam valve failure detected
      This fault code will only be shown when the test cycle is in operation.
      If there is no water supply or a restricted supply from the likes of a low mains water pressure then this error code will be shown.
      Check water supply is present and adequate
      Check cables between the MEB and water inlet valve
      Check power supply to the water valve from the MEB, should be 230VAC
      Check hoses are secure and not holed
      If above is okay, replace the water valve
      If the problem persists after a new valve is fitted, replace MEB
