Well.... its complicated but long story short they are a so called: Neue Deutsche Härte band. Its a genre created in germany and austria during the early to mid 1990s.

When Metallica, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, SOAD, Slipknot (bands from 20 - 40 years ago) are still in the Top 10 searches in the internet, in my view, it seems that the newer metal bands really cannot reach the height of the Metal Scene peak in the 80s & 90s.

Why are less heavier 80s hair metal bands like Poison, Warrant, Whitesnake and Ratt who were by 80s standards Hardrock/Pop-rock acts considered "Heavy metal" while obviously Heavier 90s bands who screamed and had agressive Distorted sound like you mentioned the Nu Metal Crop The
LP's/Bizkit/Slipknot/Korn & Deftones all objectively Heavy Metal inspired by their First three albums are not considered Metal by the Purists who serve as gatekeepers, who also don't consider Led Zeppelin Metal by the way! Would someone pls explain this for me, cause I'm straight up confused at this point!

Or is it just a way to dismiss bands you purists don't like so you discredit them by tagging them with made up label that they had no say in like Grunge before them, why would so-called fans of music be so tribal and territorial over something that doesn't belong to just you but the whole world?
Once some answers that question then I will say yes, LINKIN PARK is lsn't Metal.
Rammstein is also metal for sure....they would be up there with Metallica. I can`t understand what makes Rammstein NOT metal? Rammstein is metal for sure...they are KNOWN for their heavy guitar riffs😂Some call it Neue Deutsche Härte, but it`s still a sub genre of metal like symphonic metal etc.
Guns`n Roses?Volbeat?Five Finger Death Punch? The difference between hard rock and metal is not clear....other hard rock mentions: ACDC, Foo Fighters....and then we have bands like Muse, Coldplay....and that Nightwish fall out of this list is just a lie. They are one of the most reacted band on TH-cam the latest years and they blow most other bands away when it comes to views from live streaming from festivals etc.
This list is just another example why you should be very careful about searching for knowledge on internet and social media😂
I think it`s best to check the numbers directly from streaming platforms etc. yourself and not watching...well, believe in videos like this.🤘
Led zepplin was way ahead of their time so there wasnt much to compare.
Black sabbath and ronnie james dio were first to use heavy tones and classify a metal genre.
Judas priest def started the look.
The 80s was hair/glam metal.
The 90s was thrash/grunge metal
End of 90s and start of 20s was considered NuMetal- bands like korn and slipknot.
Later death metal/ electronic metal.
I think alot of people get confused by the cultre. While alot of bands are influenced by each other to gain money rather than succeed. I also think linkin park gets dragged into a numetal genre because the rap/rock influence- but youre right its not really metal its alternative rock.
This video is not really objective towards true metal icons.

LP are metal adjacent, but they never were true heavy metal🤘.
Their core sound is in alternative rock, but they also made Metal songs One Step Closer/Faint/Given Up.
So it ultimately depends on who you ask?
I say they are Nü metal, Because of the era they come from, and the consistent sounds they produced.

There only 3 iconic metal bands. That reached the highest of highs. Black sabbath Metallica and pantera. Nobody will ever do what they did.
Iron maiden definetely reached more then Pantera, not saying pantera didn't reach much though.
