1861-1865 USA had the war between the states also called the civil war. 1914-1918 World War 1.1918-1919 flu epidemic killed over 50 million people world wide. 1930's Germany invades some countries.1939 Germany invades Poland, Netherlands and France. Later war with USSR. Near end of 1941 USA invaded by Japan and begins it's war with Japan and Germany. War ends in 1945. With Netherlands freed from Germany their life expectancy goes up. Early 1950's Korean War with USA, UK, China and some other countries involved. After that France involved in Vietnam War and later USA. 1990's Kuwait had a civil war and was invaded by Iraq.

Life expectancy in the 1800's was heavily influenced by the horrendous child mortality. In many places 2 in 5, maybe more, children died by the time they were 5 years old. If it were possible it would be interesting to see a video showing life expectancy for people who who reached 18yo.

Keep in mind the data is heavily skewed due to high infant and toddler morality rates for the first 120 or so years especially in the early to mid 19th century, so people didn't automatically start to drop dead at 40 years old. That said people who lived into their late 80s back then were considered very, very old, like someone living to 115 years old today.

Because between 1643 and 1727, the average life expectancy is definitely lower than the life expectancy in 1800s, I think it would be around 30 years of age, and yet Isaac Newton lived till 84, so I was wondering how he manage to live that long

@ ikr, it's theroetically impossible to explain that, and if that theory you said is correct, nowegians were living unless they were killed,
I think that caculation is not correct, cuz it's the growth (3.6) * years of the growth that rate(204, were counting from 1815 to 2019, so it's 2019-1815=204) + current amount (42)
      now it's (3.6*204)+42=734.4+42=776.4
btw, how you made it 243 years?

Here are life expectancies in 5-year periods, and not ONCE in the last 60 years did Spain EVER rank better than #5: Spain is #23 in 1960-65, #13 in 1965-70, #10 in 1970-75, #7 in 1975-80, #5 in 1980-85, #6 in 1985-90, #9 in 1990-2010, and #5 in 2010-15: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_past_life_expectancy with data from the U.N. @@DieterRahm1845 About Iceland jumping up and down: 1) If and when countries are very close to each other in something measured, then it makes sense that they may often shift positions. 2) Iceland had less than 80,000 people in the year 1900. Average values on a smaller population should vary more than average values on a larger population, as each indivivual becomes statistically more important the smaller the population is. Iceland is still one of the world's smallest countries with regards to population.
