Because technically Rammstein isn't a heavy Metal Band. They are considered New German Hardness (Neue Deutsche Härte) and not Heavy Metal.

@@lokuragames6647 On a wider scale, tons of black, death and progressive metal bands, that are just not mainstreamy enough for their superior musicianship to be recognized. I mean there's a lot to love about Metallica ( I even love Load and Reload, while still holding MoP as one of my top 3 albums of all time). But everything they released since then completely depended on their name recognition to become successful, because the quality of their music certainly was not the cause for that success. I mean just look at Thrash metal bands like Kreator or Testament who have consistently put out better albums than Metallica in the last 20 years, that haven't even an ounce of the success that Metallica had.

I got into symphonic metal around 08/09 but funnily enough it wasn’t Nightwish or Within Temptation that I heard about first. It was Sirenia!

I'm surprised not to see Helloween charting since the reunion tours in 2017 and also the new album in 2021...
I believe this is because Helloween has never been a mainstream band, especially outside the European market. In the United States the band is only known in very specific niches and I believe this results in this video. Notice that no other band of the style appears, such as Blind Guardian, Stratovarius, Angra etc.

And let's face it, while Helloween has been one of the most beloved bands here in Europe, even their most successful album - Keeper II - only sold 250k units worldwide. A band like Avenged Sevenfold, that barely made the list, sold 1 mio. plus units with each album between City of Evil and Hail to the King in the U.S. alone. At a time when overall sales had already dropped compared to what metal bands achieved in the 80's.
Sadly but power metal never was a big genere outside europe, now sabaton and powerwolf are changing that
Without any doubt,that Iron Maiden are the Greatest Heavy Metal Band Ever.
Since 1979 always on the top,even more astonishing its the fact that this list is from 2003/2023 ,not particulary Maiden best years,with all this new bands,new gentes,new everything coming up...but nevertheless Maiden still can show who is the Best.
And all of this "Alone" without any Help from the mainstream machine,but above all Never Sold their Souls for Fame and Fortune,like many on this list did ,specialy the 4 turds who only released 4 good albuns,and since the last 30 + years its shit after shit.

And they know it,their souls are long gone,but Iron Maiden Soul stills banging,anyday,anytime everywhere,with millions across the world " Scream For Me...".

But it's ok, the old bands already had their prime time in the past, so it's all fair and deserved.
The two that seemed to to be in top 5 virtually all the time were Iron Maiden and Metallica. What's going to happen when those 2 give up? It was great to see Nightwish do so well they and the other Nordic bands are carrying the flag for heavy metal these days.
Slipknot as well. They fought for first place more than any other band. Korn and slip knot are only beat out by Metallica right now for most listened to metal bands. They’ve been right there especially slipknot to carry that flag easily.

I perosnally don't even listen to these old bands anyway because they are *too soft* and too boring for me perosnally, aince I'm already used to much heavier and more energrtic modern metal bands of today. So i need more heavier and more energetic Metal that modern bands offer and deliver today.
And im not the only one who feels that way, many young people of today (up to 30 years of age) feel the same way.
So no, we don't even need the old music from the 80s or 70s or 60s anyway.
We are not all relying on old music.
We already have enough modern metal bands which are much better and suoerior anyway.
And every year many more new bands arise.
Modern metal has so much more to offer, why should we saste our time with boring old stuff that can't deliver as much as the modern bands? 😂

What he means is that Ramstein does not have any traditional Heavy Metal elements, they are more Hard Rock with Industrial elements as you alredy pointed out (some of their songs are literally Pop Rock like "Ohne Dich").
In comparison *SlipKnot, Bullet for my Valentine* and *Nightwish* have at least some Heavy Metal elements because they are *NOT* only 1 genre alone, but instead they fusion multiple different genres together, including alternative metal (Nu-Metal), Rap Metal, Hip Hop, Thrash Metal and Heavy Metal elements all combined together.
Having only 1 genre is so 1960.
But we don't have 1960 anymore, this is a thing of the past.
Most of the modern bands blend multiple genres together, this makes their music and style more dynamic and more vibrant and more interesting.
This is what makes bands like SlipKnot so unique in the first place.
Odd that Five Finger Death Punch never made it in terms of Google Search popularity, considering their 7 million monthly listners and multiple +100 million plays on their hits.
Even if they are a VERY America-centric band.

Internet searches are a metric of notoriety, not popularity. Consider the surge in searchs for critical race theory...it's not because people LIKE it!
Popularity does not mean actually liking something.
It literally just means knowing something or at the very least having heard of something before, that is the definition of polularity.
So if you search for soemthing it means you have heard of it

Did someone noticed the decline of the absolute scale of the graph over the years? The horizontal scale reached far beyond 4´000´000 and now the scale only reaches around 1´000´000. We alternative Music lovers get old I guess. And I am in my early 30's. Only 1/4 of internet searches per month in an exponentially growing world wide web is just sad. So because the internet is allways growing: even a steady number of searches means a decline in public relevance.

I know that it's not precisely Metal But what About BMTH? You can like or not what they do but you must admit that they are one the biggest Metal/Rock/Alternative band in the scene right now, and they have works that for me are far heavier than most of these bands

Love sabaton too, highly suggest checking out some other bands as well tho cuz they got some really good stuff. I highly recommend powerwolf, they're also a really good power metal band

Because they have become a very popular legacy in the 2000s by blending POP elements with metal elements and rock elements which make them very radiofriendly

Not really, it's just the person making this clearly didn't include most metal bands that would pop up like Linkin Park, BMTH, Ghost - if you call it metal. Since he had Disturbed, SOAD, Korn which are Nu Metal, Metallica which is Thrash Metal and BFMV/A7X which are technically metalcore, it's just a lot, A LOT of bands missing from this list I feel like the dude just didn't add to the list so we can't see them here

As much as I love seeing some of my most favorite bands in that list, I don't think that internet searches are a good indicator for that. I mean Metallica is the only metal band that really broke into mainstream and is even known by people that don't care about rock music at all, and there's not been a moment in time where they haven't been the most popular metal band since they released the Black album. And to see that Linkin'Park was obviously purposefully excluded from that list, when bands like Korn and Disturbed aren't just shows that this list is rigged anyways. LP is basically the only band from the wider metal genre to ever pose a challenge to Metallica's no.#1 spot.

@@stenorn84 same, I think I was first introduced to metal and hard rock by bands like Thousand Foot Krutch, Skillet, and Linkin Park, but Disturbed and Sabaton are what fully got me into metal, so they have a special place in my heart. I was watching disturbed the whole time, until I spotted sabaton near the end and tried to split my attention between the 2

Linkin Park literally started their career with 2 Metal albums in 2000 and 2003 so they definitely are a Metal band, even if they changed their style to more Pop music later, but that still didn't erase their first 2 albums.
Meteora and Hybrith Theory are in fact the most successful modern metal albums in history

Maybe it's just hard for newer bands to become popular.
Well maybe not from the 2010 or 2020 era, but at least we can still consider Disturbed, SlipKnot, Bullet for my Valentine, Linkin Park and Nightwish as relatively modern metal music, because their style and sound is still very modern and up to date even today.
Compared to the most other older bands which already sound very outdated in comparison with modern metal bands (except for KoRn they also still have a very powerful metallic sound since they were the first band to use a 7-string guitar so they can still keep up with modern Metal too)

Slipknot, Metallica and Maiden are pretty much consistent.
But Slipknot only the last 18 years, Metallica and Iron for 40 years that was really incredible
