  • We're so close! The freshly rebuild 4.6L stroker engine goes back into our 1993 Jeep Cherokee Sport (XJ) along with a freshly rebuild 5-speed transmission courtesy of our friends at RockAuto.com. Davin buttons up the drivetrain, exhaust system and talks a bit about how things were a bit different for us this time around with this Jeep having fuel injection, AC, and various emissions-related items. BONUS: Davin gives a quick update on our vintage Ford dirt track race car!

    I really appreciate your “Get out in the shop and get your work done” catch phrase. It’s motivated me twice now and I made great progress both days. Since then, my 1JZ-GTE SC300 Twin-Turbo project is done well enough to drive to work on Fridays and I can see daylight at the end of that tunnel as I “finish” her.

      A set of paint markers cannot be undervalued when it comes to work like that. Stripes of different colors and combos across components and connections make it basically impossible to screw up. Leave the marks when you're done or spend a few minutes with some acetone and clean them off.

    • @skylinefever
      @skylinefever 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TheBrokenLife It is also great for telling you when you torque bolts. This is extra important when bolts need more than one torque step. It is a good reason for multiple colors.

    I've done many engine outs and ins, for the mines in WA, I stick an A4 sheet of paper to my tool box lid with a magnet - take something off - write it down - put bolts in where they came from. When you put the motor back in - follow list in reverse, saves time and money and you wont forget anything. Keep list in the car in case someone else is going to assemble it!.

    She looks and sounds great! I like the wheel and tire you chose too. Clean clean clean like my 98 it's nice to see them like that. Driveline is a little bit crusty but meh, that stuff can easily be cleaned up, mines like that too lol.
    On some factory vehicles the wiring trains itself to be in certain places and for the most part, on these things they have their own routes and places to go. You can almost NOT put a wire in the wrong spot on these since the plugs wouldn't match or the routing won't reach or there would be way too much slack. These ones are pretty much fool proof.
    A lot of newer cars are like this but I do find if I had to mark wiring it's on older cars like early 80's and older, since they like to have 'bushels' of wires coming from the same spot with similar plugs. I'd get the tape and markers out for those.

Can't remember the last time when I was able to want to "sit down " and watch one of these.. they are all too short to do that with. They've become "smoke break" videos...instead of the previous "lunch break" videos. I understand the emmense amount of work that goes into a 10 minutes video.. but you guys are basically giving us a video ONCE A WEEK. Just think there are 100s of channels on you tube with juss as good or even better content/quality that are putting out atleast 3 videos a week! Love the other additions to the channel especially with Kyza. But now we are getting jipped from anymore of those since the 10 episode is his last (smh) and what happened to Chip Foose!?!..just think the redline rebuilds are a far cry from when they originally used to be.
