0:11 This is where Dave calls out "This is our last song, it's called All Apologies", but then Kurt begins playing this instead. At the time, the bootleggers looking for unreleased material mistook the title as "Autopilot" or even "On A Mountain" (Dunno how the hell you make that out) and labeled this song as that. PLEASE upvote this or at least spread it around to cure the ignorance that surrounds all these people who keep saying Autopilot was the working title for You Know You're Right.

  • @followfornothing

Kurt was always really good at winging lyrics to a riff he had and when Nirvana couldn't think of a song to play that is when the band would fuck around and Kurt would play something the band had previously rehearsed of course, much like the live version of "Sappy" that began as "Verse Chorus Verse." Krist and Dave were usually pretty good about just going along with new material in a live setting from what I have seen, Kurt would play the riff a couple of times and then Dave would come in and I imagine Krist would just watch and listen to what Kurt was playing and he just came up with a bass line on the spot if that is what was needed.

Hell, whenever I go to a show there is nothing that can get me to leave except being forcibly ejected by security, and even then, I'll find a way back in if I can lol. If someone with me wants to leave, they are on their own, and all responsibilities outside the show are put on hold. Concerts equal church.

I don't need to love again

I just don't need to love again
    I just don't think it's worth it
    I don't really love her

It's the way your love hurts
It's the way you're mad again
    I don't think I'll love again
    I won't ever promise her
    I don't think I want her
    This time no one else
I don't bear to follow you
    I don't ever promise you
    Sometimes I don't love you
Think I'm tired of loving her
    I don't really want love
    Pain (x5)
    You know you're right
You told me to follow him
Teach him that I loved him
    I won't ever promise you
    I won't even bother to
You gave me my first kiss
    I don't think I want it now
    I don't ever want again
It's all that I had to have
    It's all that I wanted
It's all that I had to

TYVM for posting NC. And thx to Layne Cobain for lyrics. YNYR is one of my very favorite #Nirvana tunes. This live version is quite different from the studio version. First time I encountered this Aragon Ballroom version, I listened to it about a dozen times -- and wept at the pain I was hearing from him. The lyrics are devastating. "You gave me my first kiss, I don't think I want it now" and somewhere I was hearing "Wish I'd never kissed you, wish I'd never met you, I won't dare to love again" OMG. So I'm hearing him screaming both "Heeeyeey" AND "Paaaaiiiiiiin". I read where Butch Vig and Jack Endino got together to listen to the master tape of this performance and they both hear it as "Heeeeyyy" NOT "Paaaiiin" -- but I hear what I hear. And amazing no one thought Chicago was important enough to videotape. #nirvana

People read too much into Kurt's lyrics, even he said so in interviews. Often times he just came up with nonsense to go along with the melody of the song. Also, even if it was about Courtney, he could have meant the lyrics in a joking way (though I'm sure you nut jobs still would think Courtney had him killed regardless or think I am a Courtney shill lol)

Mad to think that Kurt went from asking the crowd at Reading 1992 to chant “Courtney we love you” to writing this little ditty about her in the space of a year. She went through him like a ton of bricks.

This is awesome. When I saw them in Springfield MA 1993 Kurt played this songs main riff while lying on the stage at the end of the set. Krist was fooling around and threw some water at Kurt by shaking a water bottle. Kurt then stood up and threw his guitar at the disco ball above the stage. Show over. Didn't know at the time that riff was this song. You can hear all this here: th-cam.com/video/Dgwvm29UFKw/w-d-xo.html

This is cool. I've been to Aragon Ballroom once in April, 2008 to see The Mars Volta. It looked like the whole place had been decorated to match the vibe of The Bedlam in Goliath, which they had just released, but it was just the original decoration of the place. I never knew Nirvana played there. They were already huge in 1993 and Aragon is not that big

Still hoping for a soundcheck of this to turn up...🤞🤞🤞
I remember buying the Small Clone Bootleg, "The Sermon on the Mount" for a ridiculous amount at a record fair. Definitely one of best purchases.

The fact that it topped the charts in 2002 literally 8 years after Cobains death just says how much Nirvana meant. Bet the same thing if not, then might happen if a new Nirvana song/unreleased was released today. Unfortunately, You Know You're Right is the only Nirvana song to be released in the 21st century:(
