    As it has been pointed out by multiple people here, the video is fake. In genuine Lenovo batteries (like the one in the video) the BMS gets locked as soon as you disconnect the cells from it, and I yet to see a way of reviving a locked BMS somehow. I wish the video creator had the balls to come back, acknowledge his mistake, and admit that he is faking his results in this clip.

      Try the THINKPAD external charger.

      so how do you rebuild it then if it gets locked out ?

    • @weeardguy
      @weeardguy 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@techgeek2994 Resetting the BMS, or, if you're less fortunate: resetting the BMS ánd replacing the logic fuse on the board. If the BMS locks out, it can blow the so-called logic fuse, basically a normal fuse with a heater attached to it, that is heated by the BMS IC in a fault condition.
      Resetting the BMS IC either costs you the pretty penny for software and a relatively cheap adapter, or free software and quite a lot of money for an adapter. The BMS-IC needs to be reset per computer.
      Most BMS-IC's are quite well protected and especially with BQxxZxx devices you're in for a treat. Password-protected data-flash memory, you have to unseal the chip first, than put it into full access mode and then reset everything (AND perform calibration cycles... this step is important!)

      @@nathansmith8187 I know, I remember I was so annoyed too. I really hope there will some solution emerge in the future for rebuilding these batteries, as these older laptops are simply not mobile anymore due to abysmal battery life.

      Not true. Depends on what bms was installed. I replaced the cells in my battery and it works without a problem. Lenovo t420 is what I have.

      @kidosa1609 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@silidagreat pls tell me more how to do it bro, we just remove the BMS board from old cell then reconnect it to the new cell without doing anything, right? i also want to rebuild my battery but so scare about it will lock everything. my laptop is t430 and using 9 cell battery

    • @silidagreat
      @silidagreat ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@kidosa1609 I think you are out of luck with the T430. Lenovo has upgraded their bms from exactly the T430. You can try but it might not work for that model so that one will lock once you remove power from it.Only chance you have is to keep the board powered from external power supply. If you already disconnected the cells from bms board then it locks itself out. This is another dirty trick from Lenovo to force you to buy new battery. But you still have a chance to unlock it with an arduino. Just search here on TH-cam for more info. There’s a guy who’s got that working.

    Thank you so much for the video! I have a Thinkpad T520. I bought these batteries and replaced them. It had to be fully discharged and recharged 10 times before the laptop properly displayed the battery charge. I installed a "Battery Care" program which indicates that: Designed Capcity: 56160mWh, Total Capacity: 61890mWh, Wear Level: 0.00%, Current Battery Capacity: 100%, Battery Remaining Time: 5h33. It was very good, much cheaper than buying the original battery! Thanks again! :-)

    Philips made world's highest capacity 18650 cells of 5400Mah.
    Is it okay to replace original cells with these philips has made?
    And do 4 cell thinkpad batteries have 18650 cells or different cells?
    Because i found out that 6cell batteries do have round bumps on them, 4cell batteries doesnt have those bumps, does it mean that 4 cell batteries use completely different cells?

    rookie mistake putting larger cap cells , the larger the cap the less instant power they can deliver, usually the larger cap cells are used for things that consume small amounts of power for a long time, but laptops are the opposite, they consume alot of power in a short period, just hours, especially if the cpu is an old model and especially if the laptop also has a dedicated gpu. thats why when shopping for the cells you must check not only cap but also discharge current, sometimes it is named CDR, the larger the cap usually the smaller the CDR, and viceversa, the smaller 2600mAh cells have iarger CDR, which for laptops is best.

      yes but capacity in old cells was minimal , I didn't know what to buy, it was my experiment of these cells,I just had to put the cover on the second battery because I plugged in one cell badly and I got a power failure that controls the charging of cells
      thank you for watch on this video

      Try, disconnecting the battery and AC wall adapter, then press the power button 10 times very carefully , on the 10th time hold it down for 30 seconds and you should see a quick flash from the power light indicating the system has been discharged. Plug in AC Adapter and the machine may turn on, depending on what the original reason was for the sensors to lock up. Then reinsert the battery. Et voila!
