That error 07 is the HDD timing out. Could be a bad hard drive, bad/loose IDE cable, or something else. Replacing the HDD on these isn't as simple as replacing it. There is an encrypted key that ties the drive to the motherboard. You'd have to install a modchip, or extract the key and format a new drive with that key. You can extract the key with a Raspberry Pi among other methods. That drive is on its last life, which explains the noise you're hearing.
Modchip is not necessary, he can softmod the console, clone the harddrive, replace the harddrive and then uninstall the softmod, I have done this in my console with a falling harddrive
Tip for clearing out vias: Try 3d printer nozzle cleaning needles. They come as small as 0.2mm diameter so should be able to clear out most vias if needed. You can also try acuupuncture needles as they come in extremely fine diameters.

@@manny3273if you dump the key there's no point in cloning the disk. Just make a new one that's pre soft modded, bridge the tsop and flash the console. Or just leave the box flashed
The beeping noise definitely sounds like the hard drive platters were stuck or the drive was otherwise not spinning up correctly, and that 100% tallies up with the error you got after the console first turned on. It might be that nudging the cable was enough to make it seat properly and run the drive correctly, or it might be that the drive managed to free itself - hard to say, but I wouldn't entirely trust it.
I had one of those Seagate hard drives die so badly in an OG Xbox it actually burnt out one of the chips on the drives main board! I believe as others have said that the platter wasn’t spinning hence the beeping noise, you need to either soft mod this ASAP and dump the EEPROM and maybe even zero out the drive key (as drives are tied to the main board) or fit a mod chip and change out the hard drive. Lots of resources on the OG Xbox Facebook group as to what your next step in saving this console should be :)

Congrats on the fix! Your channel has inspired me a lot to continue to repair stuff and do electronic maintenance in general. I got an iFixit toolkit and screw sorter for Christmas and I am going to get a hot air station soon. I have a solder station already so I plan to repair a Pokémon pinball gameboy cartridge once I have a hot air station. Hi steve would you please do a repair video about changing a dying original xbox hard drive without soft modding it,big fan of yours from trinidad and tobago.
Be careful when moving electronic devices while there are spinning parts like the optical drive or the hard disk because they act as a gyroscope. I once shattered a CD because I suddenly changed the orientation of the vertical axis of the player.

Now lets see some more "Part 2's" of things you gave up on in previous videos, maybe your wife can read comments from those previous videos too and you'll find what's wrong.
A quick Google search reveals that code 07 on startup means the console is aware of the presence of a storage drive, but the drive is taking too long to enter a ready state. Basically, that hard drive is dead. Replacement time!
@@Tronicsfix Well that's lucky considering that the thing is married to the mobo like the optical drives in the newer consoles. Unless you're able to sniff the encryption key, that is
The OG Xbox had so many issues. I got 3 replacements before I got one that worked and can personally say that Sonic Riders was my most played game on the console.
I usually saw the yell blinking light when there isn’t an AV cord connection. Nice little tell if you didn’t plug em in or they’re loose at one end. Same thing happened with me on 360 with a red light (cue panic attack cause I thought it was the RRD).
Thanks for the awesome content once more TronicsFix! What wire do you use to make these repairs? Looks like the sheath melts off when you solder it to something??
Great way to get in those small holes to clean, is to purchase a set of welding torch tip cleaners/carb jet cleaner. Mini files and brushes. They're reasonablely cheap for a set that goes < 2mm.
I would say those two vias at the edge of the board close to the ones you fixed are clearly rotten too, and the beeping sound probably comes from the hard drive that is likely one foot in the grave. sad part about these leaking capacitors is that the electrolyte just gonna keep corroding and eating traces away because it absorbs into the PCB itself, you would need quite a bit of work to get rid of it completely
Simpson H&R definitely a classic, funny enough my OG Xbox quit working on me back in middle school. If I sent it in to you now I know for a fact I have Def jam Fight for NY stuck in side of it 😂

That beeping noise is from the Seagate hard drive. That's the cry of death.
I'd swap out that hard disk. Or give it the proper power.
